Gordon would retire. He wouldn't leave the organization, even if he did revive Jeff Gordon Motorsports...
I'm sure as soon as he's retired, he's taking a high position in the ownership of the team. That's what I meant by that

I don't know why everybody thinks Larson is going to Hendrick ASAP
Larson won't go to Hendrick.
1. It may not be ASAP, as in within next 2-3 years, but MAYBE 5-10. Or whenever his Ganassi contract ends. I mean, he's a top quality driver, it would be absurd/asinine to think the top teams aren't even at least thinking about what would happen if he became a free agent. Though, to throw a wrench into things, perhaps he could go to SHR IF Stewart retires.

If anyone gets a cup ride at Hendrick soon, it'll most likely be Elliott when Gordon retires. I just can't see any other situation that will bring someone to Hendrick.

Since we all know Kahne's the weakest link at Hendrick, maybe he will get the boot and Chase Elliot (with seemingly bulletproof NAPA sponsorship) would be perfect to get the 5 car since Gordon could be hanging around for a while

Well since Jr Motorsports is basically Hendrick Motorsports with a fresh and hip new name, I figured if Jeff ever got the urge to stay longer than Hendrick expected and Kahne got his act together, and with Chase performing the way he is, I could see Hendrick needing to expand to a 5th car. The only way to do that would be sending Jr to JRM and bring chase with him. I know it's a longshot and probably will never really even be considered, but it's still possible.

But as of now it will just be Kasey getting the boot and Chase filling the seat.
This exactly. Kahne's days (eventually) numbered and then Chase steps in and actually makes that team competitive.

Just for the record, to me the ultimate dream team would be Johnson, Earnhardt Jr., Larson, and Elliot btw

Roush is in need of more talent in their shops to get their cars better before they get top quality talent behind the wheel.

Within the year I forecast RPM getting ahead of Roush at the current rate.

Pretty sure Edwards made the choice to leave. There's no way Roush, in their current state, would just let a driver walk away with guaranteed sponsors. I did see that Fastenal is being moved over to Stenhouse. Guess that means Edwards is walking to whatever team with Kellogg's, Subway, and Scott's.
Agreed 100% but what's Scott? (I know Dinger runs some races with Scott Products)
Did you mean Aflac?

"Kasey, Jeff is faster. Than. You. Can you confirm the message?"

"Kasey, let Jeff past for the championchip"
someone doesn't understand the new rules or sees conspiracies when there aren't any!

Theorethically, the smart thing to do for HMS would have been to let Kahne win. He's out of the Chase as of now, trailing Austin Dillon by 4 points for the last spot. Had he won, he'd be sure to participate in the Chase.

If the Chase grid was set today, both Austin Dillon and Kyle Larson would be in. Six races to go and it's a very close points race at the bottom of the grid.
Indeed!

13. Larson 562
14.
A.Dillon 559
15.
Kahne 555
16.
Menard 551
17.
Biffle 550
18.
Vickers 532
19.
Stewart 529

Within the year I forecast RPM getting ahead of Roush at the current rate.
and Ambrose still isn't confirmed at RPM for 2015... #99 to replace #9?

If Ambrose went to Roush i'd see Dakoda Armstrong going to the #9 team.

Ambrose wouldn't go to RFR he'd go back to Australian V8's and possibly be a road ringer at Watkins Glen (in the #12 for Penske since he's rumored to join TP if he goes back to V8?).

Armstrong is a Nationwide rookie, not happening anytime soon.

I hope that Hendrick takes the 9 and gives it to Elliott if Ambrose leaves it.
car #'s are owned by NASCAR, not teams, it could happen. By the time Elliott makes it to Cup, I don't think Ambrose will be there.

Ambrose wouldn't return to V8's. #12 is being campaigned by Montoya. And NW rookie going to SC? Sure that's happened recently? Mr Childress... ya hearing me?

Austin Dillon ran two seasons in Trucks, two more in Nationwide, then moved up to Cup. In both lower series, he won rookie of the year in year one, and the championship in year two. He paid his dues.

You might want to ask GoDaddy about Nationwide rookies moving up to soon.

It's been a few years, but Scott's turf builder lawn products used to sponsor Carl's car a few times per season. I think he was driving that Scott's car at Atlanta when he flipped Brad in the final ten laps of the race.

it's probably the same "Scott Products" that now sponsors Allmendinger's #47 Chevy, then. No worries about him leaving #99 lol, GTPorsche might have meant Aflac.

If the Penske buying into DJR deal comes together, there's strong speculation that he will. Common knowledge that they want him as their lead driver.
Indeed @Furinkazen : http://www.jayski.com/cupnews.htm#20140724g

Sonoma/Indy for Montoya, Watkins Glen for Ambrose in the Penske #12 makes plenty of sense for 2015 and beyond, that is if Edwards doesn't join TP.

Someone took me 200% too seriously....
tough to discern sarcasm on a forum, the :P, :sly: or other smileys you can find easily can help with that...

Scotts had been a sponsor of Edwards, they aren't the same as Scott on Allmendinger's car. I completely forgot Aflac was still Edwards' sponsor.

I have a strong feeling that ain't happening

That would only work if Jeff Gordon retires, and at the rate he's going, it could be Kasey Kahne on the chopping block instead. Good idea though...

Well, there's still several months left in the racing season. It's possible. If that happens, we will surely miss Marcos Ambrose. Otherwise, I kinda want to see this happen for some reason.

It does, actually, and it could also in theory work with the above V8 Supercars plan if there is a slight delay in launch; though you also missed Ryan Blaney to help round out the schedule. This idea looks so rock solid that franky, Gibbs can have Edwards if it means Blaney/Montoya/Ambrose can have a go in the 12 car.

Late but who cares. Congrats to Jeff Gordon, was under the impression it was gonna be between him and Harvick the way they ran. How about that, @WallRunner returns and suddenly, Jeff gets another win. What are the odds?

Actually, that's two companies:

Scotts Miracle-Gro Company: Makers of products such as Scotts Turf Builder and Miracle-Gro (another occasional Sponsor for Carl Edwards back then, mostly in the Nationwide series).

Scott Paper Company: Makers of the Scott Paper towels, which is one of many sponsors on AJ Allmendinger's car.

Hope that helps.

It's a shame that attendance was so low. I actually enjoyed the race. It was much more interesting than I had thought it would be. That being said, I really don't know if it needs to be kept on the schedule. All in all, until NASCAR puts ticket prices back into the majority of its fan base's price range, good luck getting really good attendance numbers.

Edwards will not be in a Ford next season. If he will be, Jamie Allison (Who runs Ford's NASCAR division) has no clue.

Harvick's car for this week, and no, you're not seeing it wrong.

I find it funny that Gordon was congradulated by Hendrick, Johnson, and Earnhardt in Victory Lane, but Kahne got no love.
