Teams would probably second-guess cheating if the points (to chase qualifiers) were deducted in the Chase rather than now. The same also goes to crew chief suspensions. Why would teams care about penalties if they don't mean a thing before the Chase begins?

I understand that this is very unlikely to happen, and also this rule would be meaningless to non- Chase teams. But maybe we wouldn't see such huge violations from top-tier teams. The teams who cheat might reconsider if they are forced to win to have a chance to advance.

Oh man, the NASCAR subreddit is great, there's a thread on the front page that asks what you would have your sponsor be if you were a NASCAR driver, and the top comment is by Jeremy Mayfield saying "LabCorp"

Haven't posted one of these wrap videos in a while so given the Nationwide Iowa race is this weekend, here it is:

Here's a wrap video of the peppermint-colored Interstate Batteries car from Daytona.

@meek called it last week, internet kudos to you.
I just used common sense...
A few hours/days after Bayne was announced at RFR full-time in the #6, Wood Brothers started following R.Blaney on twitter, it's the only driver they are following

From jayski:

Ryan Blaney to drive for Wood Brothers in 2015: Ryan Blaney will drive the #21 Wood Brothers Racing Ford in 2015, sources have told Motorsport.com. Blaney, 20, will run a limited Sprint Cup schedule in the venerable #21 Ford along with Nationwide Series races for Team Penske as part of a technical alliance between Penske and the Wood Brothers. An announcement is expected around the race at Michigan International Speedway on Aug. 17. Blaney currently leads the Camping World Truck Series points driving the #29 Ford for Brad Keselowski Racing. In just his second full season on the tour, Blaney has two wins - the first coming in just his third career start. Blaney has a stellar average finish of 7.6. The third-generation racer has also shown tremendous progress on the Nationwide Series tour with Penske Racing. At 19, he won his first NNS race in his 13th career start last September at Kentucky Speedway. Blaney led 96 of 200 laps. In just seven starts in 2015, Blaney has posted six top 10s and three top-five finishes. His average qualifying position is 5.9. Blaney made his Cup debut at Kansas Speedway on May 10. He qualified 21st and finished 27th.(Motorsport)

If you don't have a legitimate source for that info, then don't bother posting it like it's a fact.
Twitter is not a legitimate source.

How are your straws doing?

It makes sense for the Wood Brother as well to start a technical alliance with Penske considering how they're now the top Ford team.

See.. you've got an actual source now. Good for you.

I wouldn't call it common sense though.... it was grasping at straws.... it's also still unconfirmed.

Who else were the Woods going to get? The only logical person outside of Blaney was Hornish. Every other young Ford driver just doesn't have the experience yet to drive a third of the Cup season.

NASCAR just instantly penalized Tyler Reddick for rough driving with good reason. The spin after the crash was clearly intentional.

EDIT: Austin Dillon snaps Toyota's win streak in the truck series and scores Chevrolet's first win of the year in the truck series.

Bayne didn't have the experience when he was named the driver of the 21. Ryan Blaney will likely be the next driver of that car, but it's still not confirmed until the team announces it, and they have yet to do so. Them following the driver on twitter doesn't mean much.. because it's twitter, and unnamed sources reporting things means even less.

Except I don't think Sam Hornish Jr. is a Ford Driver at the moment.

No, they stopped that last year.

Edit: For clarification, last year was the final year for Wrangler branding on the truck series tires.

I think Eldora was the exception due to it being a dirt race.
Weren't some of the teams running older bodies due to the expected wear and tear? That could explain some older branding being present.
