They can't make it on fuel anyway.
By the time they get one to go, someone might be close. The maximum window was what, 35 laps? Someone would surely try it if it was even remotely possible. Let off a little early in every corner, and 36 to 37 might be possible.

30-35 laps. Even with the caution laps, they're still just on the edge of making it to the end, even pitting on 1 to go here...

The advertised window was 30-35 laps in the pre-race, but Joey's CC just said that 30 was pretty much their limit.

And the 5 and 15 pit again after pitting during that caution.

Add the 88 to that. That pitstop under caution was some real neat strategy....

And the 4 and 11 are in front. If they don't pit they will probably win this.

They wanted to minimize their time sitting still during the green flag.

16 needs to pit. If it goes green the rest of the way, Jr is going to be in front by 4 seconds. If a caution comes out, that hurts the 88.

Caution came out. 24 just got a huge break.

The cars out there on fuel strategy are toast on older tires. They needed the track position to save fuel and keep distance between the cars with newer tires.

The shorter green flag stop did get the 88 out in front of the 24. I think the first stop under the last caution definitely worked in the favor of the 88 car.
