Mate, treat it as a maturing process. You're quick, and you've proven that. Take pride in what you've achieved and don't worry about what others say. If you do ultimately make it you'll get heaps more attacks than this.

All the GT guys have been under a lot of pressure, partly because they dont fit the normal mold of a racing driver (IE started karting at 6-7 and racing ever since) and they are beating people with tons more experience. There is a lot of tradition with motorsport and there's often some friction to a non traditional approach.

well i really dont care that im under age i got 8th so i know im better than a lot of people n surely everyone knows im under age its been all over page 10 or 11 that im under age think everyone gets it

Considering your age, you are the best of a new generation and I am more envious of your position than anyone else. Being 34 years old, I don't have a whole lot of time left to land a racing contract. While it is quite possible that the next generation of professional drivers be selected from criteria that includes simulators based on the success of the drivers from gt academy. Your future has a lot of potential!

Anyway congratulations!

Yer mate you should be real proud, I couldn't get my 1 account as high as you got both of yours.

Might be an idea for people to post here when they receive their National Final invitations so that:

1 - We can list who is off to the national final and are GTP members
and
2 - So people can know when to check their email and spam folders etc so nothing gets missed.
should i reply to them saying i can't do it because i don't have a full drivers license?

I'm not sure how that works mate. If they will check your age on your PSN account or if they will have the option in the email. Last time I got called and only got the email after I confirmed so unsure exactly how it will work.

You will know by what the email says though.

Yeah mate they'll still let you in next time. Just let them know you don't have your full licence yet.

Yeah I know, that's why I'm unsure how they'll do it this time. They may email and give you a number to ring to confirm with.

Its best to be up front (they may let you still do it, I mean being off you L's might be considered a full licence), particularly if you want to do it in the future (which with Aus strong finish I think is quite a possibility). You'd hate to be banned from doing it next time round.

i am sure that's one of the questions they will ask???

any ways, if i get anything i will let you lads know, you do the same if you hear anything... I would say maybe not for another week maybe two? And I would say live event guys will be notified first

you need to be over 18, beau is 17?? Not sure but i would dare say a full license as in driving on your own. They may consider P's enough... Guys in the US get their full license when they are 17

okay because i got my L's and only done 30 hours driving so im no where near getting off them yet ill have to let use know what they say to me being under age

This is what it says in the regs:

(d)hold a fully unrestricted (not provisional) and valid driving licence, with the appropriate category of vehicle (car) clearly indicated, issued by the relevant national driving licensing authority in the Entrant’s current country of permanent residency (e.g. the DVLA in the UK), and that country must be listed as part of the Territory;

It also said, no cheating / cutting corners in the live qualifiers...

The T & C s are pretty clear, but who knows what'll happen.

16 years old i've only got my L's in feburary ill hope to do this in a few years time

Gents - i shouldnt harpon about the last finals but i do recall they rang first to confirm email address was correct along with postal address. they then sent through a confirmation email and alot of stuff to sign (pack) in the mail, ie agreeing to the T & Cs etc and they did do some validation checks. i guess they wanted you to agree to T & Cs along with doing one last check.... then flights etc where all organised once they knew who were the final people. then again things may have changed and i am sure they will.

@beau231, i would be just straight forward and say i dont hold a fully unrestricted license. your quick and young mate, your time will come.

i hope they email us soon because it's hard for someone from a different state to travel over there in short time knowing about it
They organise your flights and transfers in melbourne for you.

All you have to do is get to the airport
