I believe you can go sub-1'03 Doodle.

My best time at the moment is 1'03.840, which at the time was 3133rd overall. Guess it's not too bad with a less than 100% wheel.

I have a feeling it will go: 370Z, GT-R Black Edition, 370Z Tuned Car

That tuned 370Z is so old now

It would be cool if PD threw us a curve ball with an update and put the ZEOD RC in the game. Doubt it will happen but you never know!

I think there is a good possibility the GT-R GT3 might be the final car this time though, the Tuned car is supposed to resemble the one driven in the Dubai 24hours if im not mistaken which is why its always been used because its the race that you will first do as a professional.

I'm at 1'03.57x with a DS3 :) 1102nd when I set it 17 hours ago.

New day, new link for the top North Americans. A lot of international movement means we're down to just 22 in the world's top 250. Hopefully some more can burst onto the scene here in the final few days for round 1.

I finally sat down and put an hour or so in and improved to a .260, but threw away a bunch of low to mid .1's in turns 2 and 3. Might give myself one more go later this week since I know I could easily drop that another .1-.18.

1.03.8xx & I can't for the life of me even catch my own ghost again! :banghead: I feel like I'm gonna kill it, then screw something up & it all goes downhill from there...

Hey it's addicting!
Addicting but frustrating.

I do have a little side story to share. Last week, my family brought a puppy German Shepard into the fold. They asked me for names while I was doing some laps. Couldn't think of one until I clipped one of the curbs the wrong way. I began griping about it when it dawned on me.

We named him Rumble. :D

Gran Turismo, driving simulator and dog namer...

I will be skipping posting on Saturday and instead post one final round 1 update Sunday evening. Partly because I'm going to finish updating round 1 on Sunday regardless, and since there won't be much movement Friday-Sunday I don't see the point of updating twice more, but mostly due to the fact that between finals studies, and a heavy work schedule over the weekend, free time will be very scarce for me over the next few days.

Until Sunday, cheers, and best of luck to everyone who hopes to crack that top 250 before round 2 begins. 👍

Finally decided to give this a bit of effort, after realizing it was open to Canada this year. My wheel is both not working 100%, and in a box in a different city, so I'm just running on a DS3. My best is a 1:03.874 after about 90min seat time, which I suppose isn't too bad, since I haven't done anything resembling competitive GT racing since GT4

Whoever Thanks Eh is, your ghost has proven helpful!

Thought I'd give it one last go today. After only twenty minutes, a .344 which is over a tenth better than before. Not an elite time but I surprised myself how quickly I got back up to speed.

Hey All. How Representative is this first round of the 4th and final round. It will obviously be a faster car and longer track, but if I do well in this round will I likely do well the final round? My first year doing this and I just picked up a ps3 and g27 about 3 weeks ago. Current time is 1:03.259. but I must have put in 1,000 laps to get down to that.

I'd wait until the next round to make a better assessment. However, many of the names you see on the top right now will be in the mix for the money round. The upside is that because of contest rules and the number of years GTA has run, more people than ever are ineligible, making the actual cut line lower. I believe people ranked in the 50s reached Finals last year.

On the flip side, Americans lose out because of spots now reserved for Canadians. Also, they reduced the number of people going to Silverstone starting last year and I'm confident there's about 4-8 people from last year's Finals that will do everything to give it another go.

It should be considerably more competitive in round 4, there will be more people fighting for top 250 :)

The final update from me on round 1! Great job to everyone within the top 250 globally, but it's definitely going to get much more competitive with each coming round, with many I'm sure holding out entirely until the final round. Personally, I'm happy with 172nd globally. I could've done much better, but considering I only put about three hours or so into the first round, I'm pleased I never frustrated myself with my performance.

From the looks of round 2 I'll be putting much more time in simply because I love Apricot Hill :D. Good luck to everyone, we're only four weeks away from the money round!

Now's the time when I realize how slow I am. :dunce:

After a half an hour, 35.8 which is around the 250th-300th area. Then again, I don't touch the handbrake and I'm not taking a good line through S1.

Ran 1:37:5xx to start this one, gonna watch some doodle replays, and hopefully be competitive!! SH tires would be a more enjoyable experience, but hey , still pretty damn fun! Good luck everybody!!

Really enjoying this round :D. After about an hour and a half I got down to a 1:35:558. Struggling a lot for rotation in the second sector though, and can easily see a 1:34.xxx being possible with another hour or two of running.

If I only have one complaint (and it's not every the fault of GT Academy), is that I wish you could remove all the lines of friends, but still have 1 car ghost showing so you can follow their line.

I used a different PSN ID that doesn't have any friends so I could load just a single ghost. Knocked off .5 to get down to 1:37.263. Haven't had more than 30 minutes total yet, so I can't wait until Friday when I have the day off.

I agree with you about the friends lines.
It can get distracting if you're on a 'hot lap' and you're busy wondering wether you're gaining or losing in relation to the lines, especially 5 or 6 of them!!

I hope they are deletable in time for the final round.

I am not a big fan of loose on the gas with comfort softs, but this feels very smooth and a bit "grippy". Love it!
