WHAT THE ****
People already trying to quit!?

Not happening! You don't stop, ever. Don't even try to excuse yourself, you're better than that. You get back on that horse and you ride it out until you can't feel anymore, then get back on it and give the final push. Do not settle for anything less than leaving your all out there be a good example to yourself. Kick-ass. You don't have to win, but kick-ass.
Okay... But I'm not a fan of the downshift/engine braking thing. As far as my personal enjoyment goes, I enjoyed setting the 2:16.760 without drifting. But, now I'm reading that it's what the fast guys do, and I'm thinking "oh, I have to go do that, despite not enjoying it".

But, you didn't read me saying I would give up. You read my post saying I'm struggling.
And, really, who isn't struggling?

I drive without abs, that was pretty much my problem. It stopped the car from rotating into corners. Maybe I'll see what happens today. Happy now?

True story. I pushed up until the last few hours when I made it, finally locking in a position with maybe 2 hours to go. All the cramped hands, broken things-mainly headsets (if your anything like me) is well worth it in the long run and I didn't even make it to Silverstone (only SD). Keep pushing your asses off and that magic lap will happen.

I am terribly inconsistent when trying to manually induce oversteer. Hence, my lap times suffer immensely during the first right corner (before ea rouge), and the final sectors.

any tips?

Let's be real here. The only way to compete with the fastest times is to oversteer into the apex as to straighten up and get on the gas faster. If you do it the 'normal' way, you are trailing the ghost shortly after. This is evidenced by the replays of the top guys.

Indeed. Screw it  if I want to be a rally driver, I should be the best at the rally driving mentality.

👍

Eau Rouge and Blanchimont are definitely a struggle with the DS3. It's like the stick doesn't have a wide enough range of steering input, so the car just understeers off of the track (Blanchimont being the worst for this). Managed a 2:16.3, and I know there's more time out there. Haven't quite gotten Pouhon and Campus down either.

Is this car really this throttle oversteering?

You have to use the throttle to get the car to slide through corners and get a better angle on exit. I kept trying to slide the car the other day and couldn't seem to get it to do anything. Then someone pointed out my TC was on 5 so I went back and turned it off. Immediately I was half a second quicker.

can anyone give any pointers on T11. I cant get my car to rotate right even with break/handbrake or any other shenanigans.

This is for all the non aliens.....
For what it's worth since I only just cracked a 17, I'm using AT w/ TC @1 & ABS @5. My rhythm for this is to turn my fastest lap on the last day of the contest. I look at the time we have right now as what they do with a race horse before the big race. Practice isn't the race and anything before the race should be looked @ as such. I try to stay calm and get comfortable developing a seamless flow that isn't ever my fastest lap but is something I can do every lap without red lighting. I live in what is called "the slip angle" as all my efforts are to lean on the tires so they are at there optimum design. I'm hoping that Kaz designed the game to respond to that part of the traction matrix.

I look @ the course the same way a skier runs a Giant Slalom course. Momentum is my focus so I adjust my entry/exit to the turns so the "exit out" doesn't have any tail wag in it. My DFGT wheel is on it's last legs in that it's like it has a ratchet that won't let me dig to deep to save the car if I get in trouble, so my driving has to have very little steering angle in it so my arcs have to be very timing correct so I get the biggest arc through the turns as possible. Fortunately that plays to my game plan. I read once that we are not "Drivers" we are "Weight Distributors" so be gentle as you transfer weight around the car.

If you think you want to give up "Don't" your fastest lap is still ahead of you if you relax and let it find you as your looking for it.......... Good Luk 👍

Do we have a running list of those drivers that aren't eligible? Either because they've been to race camp before or are underage? I thought I saw one somewhere, but I'm being a bit lazy at the moment.

Now the question is, who is willing (or has the Excel know-how) to throw all the North American top times into a sheet and remove all the disqualified people for a more accurate top 28 list?

Obviously we won't be able to see a few that will get cut for other reasons like age(doodle)/racing license/criminal record, but it could give hope to some of us struggling to turn a triple-digit ranking into a double-digit one.

I'll see what I can do.

Edit: Cobbled this together. I'll try to update this once a day around 9PM PST.

Maybe in the 4th column, next to time, add a comment for those that are either ineligible or not going.

We know doodle is too young and gumballcgt and martin20az went to race camp last year. I also know that ptslopoke won't be attending if he makes it.
I have those names removed but I might be able to put them on a separate list or even present them as you said. I'll have to tinker with it tonight.

I think you still need to remove doodlemonoply and Hugh Jayness (apparently he finished 6th in Silverstone last year, which would make him...Barrett Rolph?)
