A few more laps today but I'm hitting that wall hard. Fatigue comes too fast and I lost the handle of the chicane. I will be on vacation this weekend which means I'll unlikely be able to beat my own time. I should have internet access to update the spreadsheet, hopefully.

Speaking of which:

https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/14H3TkMwl1YGgJjX5TsUVmSu8c8FKgcLfs2zM6nNEZsw/pubhtml

2:15.727 is the current cutoff. It's going down about .03-.05 seconds a day; those in the .5s -.6s should get moving.

Ah! I'm on the bubble! Good thing I have Friday off...

It's Fizzer82 who had the weird line crashing into the barrier out of left hander before Pouhon, jpe disappeared, CoachMK21 didn't show and a few others
fizzer does that on his blue line on mine as well, just a glitch i believe. If i load his actual ghost car its then normal.

I'm still here. Not sure why mine disappeared, other than I'm a lot slower than you. My best is still only 2:19.1xx. But I'm leaving work in 10 minutes and will have 3 hours or so to focus on this. I've run several RED 2:18.1x-4x's in the past several days so I know I've got more to lose.

As for the running into the wall, @VrapPlus's ghost line did that for me at Round 3 in the first turn. It showed him going way wide and running off track. It was really odd.

Well I am almost in the 17s and could possibly see getting into the high 16s before round 4 is over. Is everyone that's in the top 28 so far atleast been playing this game for a year or longer? I picked up this game for the first time in the middle of round 1, but I am not progressing as fast as I had hoped for. Anyone have any advice or words of encouragement? It's been a great ride so far and as the Cubs fans always say, "Next year is our year."

I've played Gran Turismo from the very first one, so consider me the veteran.

Oddly enough, I don't see myself as super fast. If you see my signature, I have tons of races under my belt but not that many wins. I'm usually in a pack of aliens who can run qualifying laps every time with nary a mistake. It's a benefit for me, however. Knowing that they're faster, I try to figure out why. That's one of the great things about a game - that information is readily accessible. With enough time, you become faster and more consistent.

Anyone who's further down the time charts, don't try to match the fast guys right away. Unless you're some prodigy, doing so will result in frustration. Brake a little earlier, stay off throttle longer, power up slower. The more comfortable you get, the closer you get to the limits. In the end, what ruins the lap more than anything else is going over it.

I chased your ghost for an hour and a half last night, so first off - thank you for being quick.

I managed consistent 37.0xx first sector times, hung onto you through Le Combes, lost a bit of time to you through Bruxelles, then proceeded to consistently blow it in turn 11 - losing around .7 - 1.0 from turn 11 to Stavelot!!!!!!!!! Odd as I have never really struggled T11....? Never managed to best the 2:15.655 :banghead: Not sure if it was a good idea go start at 10:45pm but hope to find some time today..

Just do what you have been doing and clean up the final sector, I saw your ghost and your time at the second split isn't bad at all. Unless you are trying to get in the 14s lol

Just realized in watching some of my laps from last night - I was overlaying the throttle and brake inputs - a fairly big no no for this combo. Hoping that one of the larger contributing factors to my struggles..

That was a good piece of advice I got from @outlaw4rc when he analyzed my replay. I corrected the problem and lap times and consistency have improved greatly. đź‘Ť

I need a wheel. :/ I have decided that it's impossible to win this round with a controller. The highest ranked Controller User is 174th with 2:16.998 2nd controller user is in 190th, 2:17.149. I am a controller user in 395th with a 2:18.1 but late 2:16s are in sight on some laps... But I don't think it's even possible to get a 2:14 with a controller. I need a wheel <.<

That's about where I was running a week ago.

T11 is tricky with the braking because of my 3rd-4th-3rd shifts right before it. It has to be done fast with the right amount and too often, I'm not off the gas completely. Instant understeer.

Complex before Stavelot is a real test of patience. After slowing down, once you touch the throttle, it's a test of holding it at the edge of control. If the rear steps out rounding the first part, you added too much.

I completely agree. Even though you have an extremely fast time for a DS3 user, I don't think it's quite a level playing field at all since I, myself and most other DS3 users are struggling to even get gold or the prize car. Also, I wonder how many DS3 users have even achieved gold:banghead:. I wish they would just give the 🤬 car away for bronze or silver so I could move on.

My sister's HS graduation was today, so I took a day off. Had the afternoon to beat my 14.864 lap.

No dice. Damn that alien ghost!

I got a little better with T11 so I can somewhat cover losses in S1. I just couldn't string corners together to match my split exiting Stavelot. Closest I got was a tenth off and even that lap wasn't a 14 something. Tomorrow's my last chance to improve but I doubt I will. I'll get knocked off the top eventually but I'm surprised it's taking so long.

Tonight's update:

https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/14H3TkMwl1YGgJjX5TsUVmSu8c8FKgcLfs2zM6nNEZsw/pubhtml

15.723 is the cutoff which is just about where it was yesterday. More movement within the Top 28, however.

Enlighten me what I am doing wrong Mr. Alien. All I want to shave is tree tenths.

Now, hold on. Since when I'm an alien?

:irked:

Anyways, I actually looked at your .433 lap. Right away, I saw two places for time gain.

On the last right through the Les Combes complex, you'll need to ease off the throttle earlier. It will give you a good amount of rotation which should make it easier to power out with more speed. Also, be more aggressive turning in. Yes, that lousy cone is there but the time it takes to get the car lined up all the way left should be enough to give you the angle to clear it, usually.

Going into Fagnes, I was running closer to your line today on the initial entry and kept losing time. You do want to hug that inside curb all the way through exit but you don't want to actually touch it. If that's proving difficult, you'll need to delay turn in as much as possible. Not easy to do because there's not much grip out there but it's feasible.

Thanks man, I have been told I'm not aggressive enough with the wheel, I guess I really need to ramp it up now!
Going through Fangnes I know what you're talking about, should be able to carry over 80mph through the first part if done right as you said with the car set in a "weird drift" state.

:bowdown::bowdown::bowdown:Thanks a lot alien almighty!! :bowdown::bowdown::bowdown:

Well I've got a brand new G27 on the way, should be here Friday, so I'll have a few hours to finally grab a 14.xxx before the round ends. Frustrated that today had to be a total wash, but things happen (and money burns ), and I've still got time to gun for 1st :)

I want a ride. Where do you drag it at? would be nice to meet you all at nationals, looking like it could happen.
Should be going with in this next month to brake my old PB time of 11.5 @ 127mph next time out at the track should be running in the low 10s My home track is fontana speedway, and on that ride along I don't like to drive with people in my car cause to be honest I've had to many close calls with it being so fast if something was to happen with someone in my car I couldn't live with my self also the cars gutted only driver seat :P

Anyone running in the top not using left foot braking? I am not using left foot braking currently as I feel less comfortable with it. I don't know if I could make the switch well enough to have it help anyways. I'm guessing some of you too guys can run nearly as fast without it right? Or some may not be left foot braking. I am just curious. I am currently at a 2:16.27 and will be trying to drop some time. Any thoughts or input would be great.

Is anyone doing this challenge with a.........Shocking Moment.......a DS3? :sly:

Man, my fingers and controller are hurting like heck after several days. I'm still on 2:20.44 and sitting at the 1,000s rankings. I'm trying to push it to the 500th rankings, but everytime I tackle the corners my analog stick nearly pop out of place and mess me up and I lose my momentum and either get a invalid time or DQ!!

I'm still gonna try to achieve it though regardless, but I just have to find a easier solution to get under 2:20 and hit around 2:16 or something.

Well, Looks like I'm out (not that I was in). I hurt my left shin today when working out. It has gradually been getting worse during my workouts- no matter how much stretching or icing or heating it kept getting worse. I guess old age has caught up with me. Good luck to all the Snails out there!
