Doodle, I sincerely hope you've already taken steps towards the real-life portion of GT Academy for next year. If there was ever to be a guaranteed shoe-in to make boot camp for this competition, it's you. I really hope you're permitted to test your skill in a real car well before Nissan calls upon you to step to the plate. Best of luck 👍

Meanwhile... <is practicing in a car similar to the one that might actually count> (412 hp, everything else stock 2008 350z)

1.1 seconds faster than mine, that's tough. :P I only did 10-15 laps though. :) just have to complete it :) dont have to win is.... <vigorously time trialing in 350z>

You might want to actually jump in the 370Z. Unless that's what you meant. But yeah, same here for the time thing. I can't do this FF stuff.

After only about an hour of play time I was able to manage an okay 1:03.504 for 290th in the world. We'll see if I have some more time to post some better times in the next week or so.

Wait what. Why are you here? :P

I hope you mean a real one because that would be MUCH more beneficial in the long run. Just saying. :sly:

Just posted a .469 after another 30 minute session. Only time I may get to say this but I'm currently faster than a real race car driver. Gotta take the small victories wherever I can.

It's great that you're staying focused on the main task here, but take this from someone who's done this twice already; no matter how much you time trial every track in the game in a car nearly identical to the one that may be used, you'll still be astonishingly behind what's possible, which will only make this whole experience much worse.

This is in no way a shot at you, or anyone here, nor am I telling you to not bother with getting ahead early, but once you have a benchmark for what needs to be or can be achieved you'll be able to see much better what is possible in terms of racing line, throttle control, and many other aspects. Also, the more comfortable you get at what you practice now, the more easily frustrated you'll get if you're off pace a little later, because you'll be forced to break the habits of what you've been doing for the past several weeks.

My serious advice is to not do anything to the point where you even think of getting frustrated until the final round begins. Practice, for sure, but focus on your consistency above anything else at this point. That final car, if it remains the same as previous years, is a brutal one, and I'm sure the track it'll be paired with will make it even worse, so just try to keep calm until the real pressure begins.

That's the biggest advice I can give, honestly. Frustration due to lack of speed, or lack of improvement, for whatever reason, is your biggest enemy in this stage of the competition.

I know what you mean. But I think this is still very good practice as last night, first lap out. 2:22.8. second: 2:21.0. Sixth: 2:19.8. 19th and final lap: 2:17.982. :) I know its still in the early stages, but I think this will help me out more than the leaf. In 2012, I tried and I was able to get in the top 1000... without practicing. I hope this could get me up some 950 positions. :) I just hope that the track we do is one that I know well like Laguna Seca... This will help me out on the ones I do not know quite so well like Silverstone.

Q: Will 2014 be harder to win than in 2012?

So right now the 4th place person in U.S has a 1'03.333

4th place in Canada has 1'03.335 (not counting ineligible people on both sides).

Yet U.S gets 24 more spots. I'm sure most people here will be happy about it, but I wish they were going to choose the top 32 for the region overall.

I've been preparing ever since last year, at least on the physical side. I've never been an athletic person and don't see myself being as fit as Jett Chandler anytime soon. I've been going to the gym to improve my stamina since that's my weakest point at the moment and will probably focus on building up my muscles soon.

As for driving, I can drive a manual efficiently, but all I need to learn is heel-toe shifting. I may be doing a track day at Summit Point and going to Skip Barber sometime this summer.

Thanks for the kind words.

I get that automatically fortunately, because I go a college in the mountains. :)

Wait what. Why are you here? :P

I'm just here to have some fun and put in a top time come the final run. Got to prove I'm not some washed up gamer. Gives me something to do in my free time which I rarely have lol.

...3rd corner....🤬

Seriously, I didn't realize I'd hate that corner as much in the game as I do in real life. Such a struggle.

The second corner is my "nemesis." Ran the first day, set a .866 on my 5th lap and can't stop focusing on the time I'm losing rather than the time to be gained.. Will be giving it another go tomorrow, but am more along the lines of what another stated - not trying to work myself up too much until the final "money" round.

Good to see you lapping electronically Nick - when's the next race in the beast?

Cheers,

Don

I'm managing Druids and Graham Hill relatively well.

As for the last sector, though, I just love dipping that left rear into the grass. Oh, and of course, I "hit" the cones at the Paddock Hill apex all the time.

Where is it ? PSN store? Forgive my ignorance :dunce:

Found it :dunce: So used to just logging in to get my 200% and then quitting so I never looked right in main menu :dunce::lol:

1'04.090 is my best now. Just about mid-3k worldwide.

Sucks that it's impossible to check country rankings unless I'm missing something.

You can't. It's pretty frustrating.

I got to admit. It's an honour and a privilege to see a Canadian flag in the top ten! I'm so happy to be carrying the banner for my country right now :)

You're doing a great job up there! Pretty sweet time.

Hit the groove tonight. Managed a 1'03.410. 155th worldwide, 7th in Canada (5th eligible).

Haven't looked at the top guys' replays yet. Might download Doodle's lap to see where I am losing time.

Speculation here. Off topic a bit... Maybe GT academy will come with Dubai DLC. I mean it's the first track the winner does. And it's not in the game yet, it is logical that they would add it.

Dubai isn't anywhere near the first track the winner does. Just the first in International competition. There's 3-4 months of racing on the national circuit in England and I'm sure the majority of those tracks aren't in GT6. Going by your logic, maybe they'll add in a GT Academy Training DLC.

Anyone know if that Ghillepepper guy from last year is old enough this year? If he was old enough last year he would have been 2nd fastest eligible in the US.
