Keep pushing you gotta go way faster then that :P I think I rember
You from racer x in San Diego ?
Yeah the year Steve won I believe and sonvonstig being disqualified! There's a group picture in the forum somewhere.

Thanks for the encouragement it's insane when I couldn't hit 1.38 then finally get to mid 36's and to compete you have to go another 2 seconds faster :scared:!!! But then watching some ghosts shows just how smooth you need to be! I hope to get there:cheers:

Sorry for the big a$$ pictures lol

Oh yeah you took some pictures lol I'm down to a 1:35.198

Hey guys I have a doubt let's say I'm not in the top 250s but I'm still the fastest from my country will I be selected? Sorry for it being off topic.

To the DS3 users, what controller steering sensitivity are you running? I just always put it up to 7 every time, anyone experiment with this?
I leave mine on zero & I have never really experimented with any other numbers. My current best time is 1:35.286

Always 0 👍

Have tried with highest & lowest values, doesn't make that big of a difference to me, tho it feels better at 0.

My fastest if anyones interested. I'd just look at the last sector and perhaps the long left as they are the only good bits, the rest is pretty rubbish if I'm honest! There's a little live reaction at the end which I thought I'd put in so you get an idea of what I'm doing as I play and what a good time still means to me :)! The guide is based on the last sector in this and first 2 from a different lap! That will be out later on tonight!

Loving the cameo appearance again! 👍
I really need to get back on this after my last exam on Monday! I'm so slow in the last sector! :scared:

EDIT: On the reaction note... You should've seen my reaction when I went P1 on the last round haha!

Benefits of my friends list and being fast haha :D! To be honest the last sector can be a pain, unless you go tight on the first bit you're always going to lose out on the second I've found, tried all sorts but this way is best I've found, it's extremely quick, if I hadn't had lost time on the last corner would have been a gain in that last sector purely from that chicane! You'll be fine though, you'll get time, hairpin ruins me quite alot on laps but I'm only going to play until Sunday/Monday then I'll wait for the next one like round 1 :). Really gutted about my sector 1 here though was so horrible!

Thanks mate! i got a new DS3 now and it feels so much better after breaking it in a bit. Stick isn't as loose as my old one and the X button is more responsive.
And yeah, good little battle going between me and Adam :) It'll be difficult to pip him that's for sure.
That is good to hear, samurai_405 is also one to watch too. If you can beat him in final event then that will be an amazing achievement.

@Tidgney, your lap gives me hope I can do a reasonable time too and I guess sort of explains why it is so close at the top given how much difference can be made doing a few corners really good, must be annoying not doing it with a good start to the lap though.

O for sure, I'd expect a .2xx to be a very near perfect lap, but I can't really say if you can go quicker not being the best at the hairpin. But you can constantly see improvements throughout, and that lap pretty much shows what is potentially there (The guide will show that more), but nailing it with perfect corners for the entire lap is hard and shows why constant improvements are happening at the top 👍

wow, im .200 away from gold 🤬

problems with starting work at 04.30am and family at night im only getting 40 minutes really to give this one a crack. Nows its weekend, once my little ones in bed will get 3-4 hours on it tonight.:D

Was finding the esses up the hill slightly annoying, but will get there.

:gtpflag:

Right I'm down to a 1'35.248 now, racing your ghost Tidgney. On your current lap all of your weaker areas seem to be my strengths...first section I have got down can get .3's most laps, that long left hander is a pain, and I'm actually struggling with the last corner... :sly:

I'm definitely more confident about getting in to the 34's now.. I just need to keep consistency up and get on the damn game!:yuck:

Great work, I must admit it's rare that I'm in the .4xxs in sector 1 which is why I was so surprised to get the lap! I'm usually like yourself in .3xxs and .2xxs! Nice to see your going for it this year Spud :)!

Yeah figured I'd give it another shot this year, I'm far too lazy to set up my wheel and I have a pretty mediocre rig (5 quid table that goes on two legs everytime I counter steer too hard!) So I'm still going for it on the pad. If i qualify though, I may be forced to whip out the wheel, don't want a repeat of 2011 Nationals :sly:

I will definitely be celebrating if i get ahead of him in final round :D Though to be honest i doubt it will happen. I don't even think he's trying in this round and he's already ahead of me. Now i have to find over a tenth to catch Adam who's stormed up to 12th.

Always 7 for me, i never change it.

Great time Tidgney! I hope you or Bandit can make the top 10 and make us Brits proud :D Loving the stig gloves btw

Decided to have another crack at this thing, only with a couple of changes. First, I've set the force feedback strength to 5, since many of the quick guys think it helps to go faster. Second, I'm running with the friend lines turned on, whereas before I always considered them too big a distraction and kept them off. I might not have as many alien friends as Tidgney, but at least I can use Bandit's line to compare.

I'm early into the session, and already I've seen a lot more potential than before. I've had one run where I was only about a tenth behind Bandit's line up to the final chicane and looking good for a 1:34.9xx, and then I hit the right hand cone... :banghead:

I'm determined to get a 1:34 before the week is out.

EDIT: Just managed an eye-watering improvement of 5 thousandths; 1:35.137 :)

EDIT 2: Down to a 1:35.069, halfway there...

The support on this thread is great. Thanks everyone! I am new to grand tursimo and GT academy, but not new to driving cars on the track. Got gold on the first 2 rounds, but my strategy has been to actually continue the career mode once that happens. Would it be bad to wait till 4th round to strive for top times? I am also wondering what wheel/pedal combo will be used for Nationals. I want to play with that setup for sure. I am currently using DFGT.

I'm gonna have to settle for my 34.974, thats it i give up, that god dam chicane wins, I simply cannot do it right. If I can nail that chicane then I can get awfully close to a top 10, my theoretical best is around low 34.7's.

I don't get how the top people maintain a speed of 66mph through the chicane! Any faster than 62mph and I just run off from too much speed.

Is it easier with a better wheel? I have the DFGT.

Had to seriously lol when I crossed the line at 1:38.001  last night. Very pleased w/ my transition to the new wheel from DS3. Have been just taking it easy and focusing on easing through a proper line and bumping up the pace as or when ready. Gaining just .7 last night but, feel the edge is starting to come in to shoot higher.

This is a really good combo all around for breaking in the wheel and for anyone wanting to hone their skills for future GT6 (and beyond) and or real life race competition. It has all the making of what it's like to be in the real world and being use to a softer compound tire and go to a club race (or series) w/ a club (hard compound tire) and have to deal w/ the serious lack of grip. I use to hate that, but in reality it made/makes you focus on a more proper line and not just rely on grip and power.

I think a better challenge, rather than a one lap make or break crash no prob press restart, would be a 3 to 5 consecutive lap compilation for over all time and average time. In other words the Super Laps are great and all...but what can we do for 5 consecutive laps?

Keep digging ALL, very impressive times throughout. Hats off to all focusing on bettering yourself over all. Remember the future does not rest on one competition, dreams are meant to be built through progression.

I think my FFB is all the way at 10. I like a heavy steering wheel. I honestly would go higher if would allow me to.

Yeah same here. Honestly I think that thing people are saying how higher FFB is slower is just a myth.

As long as it's not so high that you don't turn into corners enough, and can't correct oversteer fast enough.
