2014 William FW36 my eyes no longer hurt Thanks Martini

Hopefully the livery will be the image I have in my eyes. I don't know if recreating the classic Martini livery would be the best idea, white doesn't really look that good on the modern cars. Or maybe that's just me. I really hope this year's the start of a upward trend for Williams, I really want to see them back at the front/almost front of the grid.

Don't say I don't do anything for you guys

But is it real?

I don't think it's real. The shine is too strong for the colors it's going over and looks washed out in those areas.

If it's real why is Brabham written in top right corner?
It looks like an insert. The picture is a little murky, so it is difficult to tell, but it has clearly been scanned from a magazine. If you look at the space surrounding the Brabham name, it is a slightly different colour to the rest of the image. I am guessing it is an insert, showing a top-down view of a Martini Brabham. I cannot tell which one, but I am guessing it is the livery the FW36 design is based on.

But I have my doubts about its authenticity. The front end looks exactly the same as the E22 livery, but with different colours, there is no Petrobras logo, and the "Martini Racing" on the engine cowling looks awkward.

I hope that's the real thing, a livery in F1 hasn't looked this good since the HRT F112.

So ... for a year, then.

I would not get your hopes up. It's a Photoshop onto a picture from Jerez. Williams have not confirmed the deal yet, so quite how a magazine is in any position to superimpose a livery onto a photograph and call it accurate is beyond me.

Felipe Nasr has been confirmed as Williams' test and reserve driver. He's currently running in Bahrain, and apparently Felipe Massa is jumping every time he hears "Felipe" over the radio, thinking he is supposed to be doing something. And from the sounds of things, some of the team are finding it quite entertaining.

I got used to the step-nose pretty quick, but it just looks like the designers are just putting on an extension on a high nose just so they can have one.

I felt like you at 1st, but next years edition will look like a version of the best one this year so as long as there isn't a major over haul to the reg's again we will see these noses looking good again even tho they are scrapping the ground like a Hoover vacuum. Honestly I think they are on to something?!,.

as long as there isn't a major over haul to the reg's again
I doubt we will - the sport just underwent a major overhaul of the regulations. The FIA won't do that again so soon. No doubt they will revise the rules to change the noses, but they won't push through another major rewrite so soon.

The lettering would also appear the-right-way up to a forward-facing camera, doesn't that make it illegal? Another rule I remember from somewhere but haven't checked properly.... :D

EDIT: I should add, a properly-done Martini livery could look very good indeed, can't wait to see it if it ever happens :)

I have heard that Williams will unveil their racing livery on the 6th. I have no idea how true this is.

Not that I am aware of. There aren't really any rules governing liveries, except that they must be identical between two cars in the same team, must feature a number prominently, and cannot be offensive. Any other restrictions are the result of local laws.

I also believe they cannot be asymmetrical, that got BAR in trouble in 1999 I think (Correct me if i'm wrong).

BAR got in trouble as both cars had different liveries, the 50/50 livery was their response to being told the separate liveries were illegal.

Further to @Clark 's response, the Sporting Regs say that the liveries of both cars must be "substantially the same". That allows for personal sponsor differences. The FIA may also ask for changes when they feel there is a significant identification issue, in the event of something grossly asymmetric that might be the case but it isn't regulated against.

BAR/Honda have run a number of asymmetric liveries after that time (including the Earth livery), that isn't a problem as long as you can still clearly tell who they are. Obviously they pushed it somewhat with the dual-livery, I think after that they just ran as 555 in certain markets with the agreement of the FIA (now also required in the rules)?.

I have a sneaking suspicion there will be pictures in this weeks Autosport which is available online at midnight tonight, watch this space...

Small update on the Williams livery launch, it begins at 11:45am (about 3 and a half hours away). The Autosport digital edition appears to be under an embargo. I still expect pictures to be leaked earlier through the paper copy of the magazine.

Looks absolutely awesome. I was quite against the idea at first because I thought Martini liveries belonged in the past and I'm not one for getting all gushy about fake vicarious nostalgia, but they pulled it off.

It's not overblown like the fan renders, it's subtle enough so that the car looks unique, and good, from every angle. Well done, my favorite looking car for sure, nose and all - the white really does wonders for their little nob there.

I gotta change the thread title, this has gone from eye pain to eye candy.
