Yeah, it's unsavoury how Leicester have acted in recent weeks, but I can't be objective about Spurs, it's not possible.

Yeah, it's unsavoury how Leicester have acted in recent weeks, but I can't be objective about Spurs, it's not possible.

I can. Look at it across the whole season; it must be devastating that this year, of all the years, was the one where Spurs usurpured Man United, Chelsea, Man City and Arsenal only for Leicester to come from nowhere and go one better.

Although 2nd place isn't mathematically certain at this point, it should still be on record that it is fantastic for football to see Leicester and Tottenham in the top two spots. It's great for them both. And, it'll make the 'traditional' PL clubs below them work harder because competition spurs competition; the same teams winning all the time is boring. This has been a brilliant shake up and it's long overdue.

And it's great to see two different approaches; Leicester with the more classic bread-and-butter game and Tottenham with the silky smooth high-scoring football. Both have been fantastic to watch.

It's so annoying looking back at what Spurs were poor at this season. Conceding set-pieces was one but more importantly not closing out wins. 4 points from WBA and Arsenal when it could have been 12. Losing leads to Stoke, Leicester and Newcastle. Not being able to get a win against Liverpool or Chelsea. Next season they have got to be better, but I believe.

If Spurs fail to win the title next season, one of the following will have happened:
Something has gone wrong (player sale, loss of form, Poch leaves etc)
Man City buy half the world and become really really good.

Before the season I thought they'd finish 5th.(also had Chelsea as champions lol) Looking at it from that perspective, I can't be too disappointed. I thought Lamela would be playing for Inter Milan, that Dier will be on the subs bench, that Dembele wouldn't be used, that Alli would be on loan to some bottom of the table team and that having just one striker would be fatal to our chances of top 4.

Expectations have been exceeded this season and Poch has the fans believing again. I have never seen Spurs in such a strong position, even when we had superstars like Bale and Modric. This is without doubt the strongest Spurs team I've ever seen and probably the best manager too.

Having 9 players booked shouldn't happen again, I think it came down from the manager not really having control of his emotions influencing a young group of players. I would like an internal review of tonight's game regarding discipline so it doesn't happen again. It's not a good image to project to all the casual fans watching tonight that haven't watch Spurs play all season, as that wasn't Spurs tonight. Spurs play with intensity, but they don't run around the field knocking lumps out of their opponents, even if it is Chelsea. There's a reason why we haven't given away a red card this season,(should have been about 4 tonight though) and that's because they usually keep their discipline in check, even if they concede a lot of fouls naturally through their style of play. I don't want to dwell on this further as the last two games are not what Spurs are about and hopefully won't be about in the future.

The dream is over for this season, but we will be back. Ever since I started following Spurs at age 9 I've seen a certain quote from Bill Nicholson, a man who dedicated his whole life to Spurs, first as a player and then as our most successful manager. As I've only ever seen them either toil in mediocrity or finish 4th-7th I've never felt that it has been applicable to 21st century Tottenham, until last Monday night after the WBA game...

This season has an echo of glory about it and honestly, I've never been prouder to be a Spurs fan.

Even in their best year, they still couldn't beat Arsenal. God knows how, because we were dreadful in both games, especially the first encounter.

The Spurs curse, I suppose.

@Akmuq Good post. I'd have to be honest and say I was always gunning for Leicester to win it rather than Spurs but it's good to see a Spurs fan taking pride in their achievments this season rather than cursing what could have been. It could be a highest finish in how many years?

If Spurs fail to win the title next season, one of the following will have happened:
Something has gone wrong (player sale, loss of form, Poch leaves etc)
Man City buy half the world and become really really good.

Man City and Chelsea will be back on fire next season. Next season will be even tougher with those two firing on all cylinders. The hard work starts now but Spurs have a great manager in Pochettino and a seemingly limitless talent pool of great youngsters.

The OP does get updated regularly but the chance to add this to it is quite special:

Premier League

2015/16 Winners: Leicester City

The debate this morning is on whether this is the greatest achievement in team sports. Thoughts? Some people were suggesting Brawn winning the Formula One championships. I'd have to disagree with that.

Huge congratulations to Leicester  - very well deserved title and everyone associated with the club deserves massive respect. The team cost £23 million to assemble - less than many individual players that have failed to deliver on a spectacular level for the mega-rich clubs. Vardy and Mahrez have been simply sensational, and Ranieri deserves a medal for pulling off one of the greatest sporting shocks of all time.

I was watching the snooker world final at the same time as the Chelsea v Spurs game. Now, it's maybe a bit ridiculous to compare snooker to football, but watching Chelsea v Spurs at the same time as the snooker world final was a very interesting juxtaposition of how sport itself ought to be conducted and how it should not. Frankly, the Chelsea v Spurs match was an utter disgrace - from the vile behaviour of the players, the vile attitude of the fans, and even the unnecessarily lenient officials who failed to act in the face of such disgraceful behaviour. The only positive side was the Chelsea supporters deference to Claudio Ranieri. Contrast that with Mark Selby raising a hand in apology to his opponent for fluking a safety shot and leaving his opponent with a difficult shot - manners, courtesy, sportsmanship and respect were on display throughout the entire snooker tournament, and this is typical from players and the audience alike. How sad that the 'national sport' is almost the polar opposite.

And let's not forget that the Jester from Leicester won the snooker on the same night as Leicester City winning the league. How oh so very apt!

For me, this is the best sporting achievement in club team sports since the Lisbon Lions won the European Cup. Only outdone by that as the squad all lived within 10-miles of each other and managed to win club football's biggest honor against huge odds.

Unbelievable Leicester, congratulations. Your bandwagon will be overflowing more than ever!

After last night I was slightly embarrassed to call myself a Spurs fan, it was an absolute disgrace. Mathematically it was possible for Spurs to win the title yes, but realistically it wouldn't have happened.
So all I wanted was for them to end the season with their heads held high, with grace and dignity and to be proud that they pushed Leicester this far and to be proud that they finished where they did.
But the game encompassed everything that is bad with modern day football, and then some.
Players who's temperament is usually very good were gouging players eyes out, launching into two footed challenges, kicking and stomping. They crumbled.

But forgetting that game I am proud to be a Spurs fan and soooo happy where they finished. Let's hope next season they can challenge again.

... the season isn't over yet :scared:

It would be a travesty if Arsenal finished 2nd, and somehow I doubt it. Spurs need to regain their composure and focus on getting 6 pts from their last two games... their last game is a potential banana skin, away to a Newcastle team who are locked in a relegation dog-fight - so they really need to win against Southampton to take the pressure off before the final game... 3rd place would still be a great result for Spurs, but finishing behind Arsenal would really take the shine of an otherwise excellent season.

Kosovo has been accepted as a full member of UEFA. Voting was 28-24.

Next step will be becoming a full FIFA Member.

Edit.

Because this is yet another political heavy weight issue, Kosovo and Serbia will most likely never play each other.

Great news but yeah, this is another Spain/Gibraltar Armenia/Turkey situation. They say football can bring nations together. We will wait and see if, for example, the Battle of Belgrade can be settled on a football pitch without 'fans' rioting.

Ranieri has played it perfectly. By avoiding mind games, he played the greatest mind game of them all and kept the pressure of his players. He knew what he was doing.

Means all eligible Kosovan players can switch national sides. So Xhaka, Cana, Behrami, Shaqiri, Mehmedi are a few to name....

Man City and Chelsea will be back on fire next season
City yeah, I dunno about Chelsea though, seeing their time-wasting and celebrations about moving up to 9th, I think they're quite happy at that level.

Chelsea's record has been impressive since Hiddink took over, I can see them bouncing back with no problems if they manage to keep the players they got now.

FA charge Fellaini and Huth with violent conduct following the incident in the United-Leicester game, no news on whether Dembele will get a charge after last night

Cant really add anything to what has already been said here since last night about Leicester, just amazing!

I think they were celebrating ruining Spurs' title chance; the fans anyway, the players just wanted to fight anyone they could.
Chelsea will definitely be back stronger next season since they will actually be trying and not getting the manager sacked early on. If Hazard plays like he did last night they will be back up there.

As for greatest sporting achievement I think Boris Becker winning Wimbledon at 17 as a qualifier is another contender.

I still can't believe how Leicester won the Premier League. They weren't as financed as the Big Four, and didn't have an all-star team on their side. But the Tinkerman, Claudio Ranieri, has done an absolutely herculean effort to make the team stronger than ever. Leicester have shown us that an elite cast isn't enough; what you really need is determination. The odds were positively ridiculous, even smaller than those of finding the Loch Ness Monster and finding Elvis alive! (source) And yet, they did it. Leicester FC, I can't wait to see you guys in Champions League on the next season.

Meanwhile, have a Kasabian.

Sky Bet say over 800 bets have been placed on Burnley winning the league next season, I wonder why?!...

But seriously congratulations to Burnley for winning promotion back the Premier League next season, I liked them when they were here last season, thought they did well.

Also, at Man United end of season awards last night Van Gaal said he was one of the best managers in the World, No I'm not kidding!:lol::lol::lol:

Burnley haven't been beaten in the league for a long time, winning the Prem is a bit of a stretch but I think they will stay up with Andre Gray possibly getting into double figures.

In his two spells I think he's lost twice, maybe three times. Either he doesn't want the job long-term, or the Chelsea board are absolute rotters.

Hazard got the final laugh with that brilliant goal.

Leicester have been estimated to be worth £436 million according to a American research firm. Current owner only got the club for £39 million back in 2010. Incredible.
