Is it me or do you guys think the new 'Stang will be basically a Sport coupe of the new Fusion?

Mustang Concepts:

I don't know but, if that's the case I don't like the direction it's going. But this is all hear-say. I'll hold my final judgment when it's finally revealed.

It looks like Ford wishes they still owned Aston Martin.

I thought the same thing.
Oddly enough, the concept/art I've seen in this thread is nice from the rear view but up front the Aston rip-off is horrible. Really hope the next Mustang doesn't look like this up front. :(

I wouldn't doubt that all they would do is rework the front and bloat it up.

No, it'll be an all new car. (except for maybe the engines)

The above pictured is just a drivetrain mule hidden under current body work.

it would be interesting to see a aston mustang, but i think even more retro would be cooler(as in reproduction 65-67 bodies with modern chassis, drivetrain and interior)

People do that now in the aftermarket world.

Like me and Keef said, if they took those 2 drawings I posted and combined them, stuck a 5.0 in it with IFS and released it I would ****. And that's coming from me, who prefers the older generations.

YUCK

Off topic but I don't get why they didn't do this for the current Boss 302..

I really hope Ford ditches the retro styling, retro has been played out in the market. I want my cars to look like they are from 2013, not 1970. And all these pics floating around are just artist renderings, who knows what the actually Mustang will look like when it comes out. If they do end up keeping the Evos front end I might just have to look at trading in the Focus early, barring the engine choices are good. A 400hp V6 hooked to a double clutch trans sounds about right.

I am also glad to see they are finally doing IRS, it'll make the Mustang way more competitive in the sports car market. Solid rear axels belong on Jeeps and pickups, not sports cars.

They can get away with changing it on this car because they have done so already in the past. Some cars though would be really hard to get away from the retro thing, like the Beetle and Mini Cooper.

Keep dreaming. ;)

To be honest I wouldn't say it's that far off since the current V6 is pushing 305. 400, maybe not, but I wouldn't put it past them to crank out 350 horses with a 6 banger.

If that is just a drivetrain/suspension mule, then what car could they be developing? Comeback of some legendary badge, such as Capri?

YUCK

That front end grill arrangement has actually quite grown on me.. rest of it is pretty meh (imo), but that front grill and swage above the headlight.

^I like that one!

In all honesty, Ford really needs to get rid of the S197 styling all together, the “retro look” is really starting to get old. If Ford goes back to the SN-95 and New edge styling then I can almost guarantee that it’s going to be a hit. Unfortunately, the chances of that happening is very slim.

It looks like an offspring of a Ford GT and Mustang.

It kind of looks similar to those drawings I posted. As I said, if they made that, I would die. It would be soo nice.

RWD Lincoln sedan maybe based off the 2015 Mustang
Lincoln is eyeing the rear-wheel drive platform that will underpin the 2015 Ford Mustang.

It would reportedly be used on a four-door sedan that would have a MacPherson front / independent rear suspension.

It remains unclear how the model would be positioned, but it could be a Cadillac ATS / BMW 3-Series competitor or a larger Cadillac CTS / BMW 5-Series challenger. The company's entries in these segments - the MKZ and MKS - aren't competitive, so a proper rear-wheel drive sedan could spark reviewed interest in the beleaguered brand.

Yup. It basically all comes around full circle... The LS begat the (new) Mustang begots (bigots? bigotten? verboten?) the new LS...
