Posting this again just to have it in the same post:



So this is the car that is supposedly a flat plane V8. It makes me curious. To me it doesn't sound like a flat plane. However, it is possible to make a cross-plane V8 sound like a flat-plane V8 with crossover, 180 degree headers. Like this:



I'm still skeptical about Ford doing a flat plane, but if they were to do it, I can understand it not wanting to sound like one. It wouldn't sound like a Mustang. Perhaps they put 90* crossover type headers on it, to make it sound like a 90* V8?

Although one of the charms about the old GT350's was how great their 289 Windors sounded at the high revs with their big bore and tiny stroke. It would be neat to see Ford make a high revving V8, even if it isn't the traditional small-block.

I just don't see the bean-counters at Ford saying "Yes, let's shell out to get the engineering team to develop a flat-plane crank for the Coyote and then develop exhaust so it doesn't sound like a flat-plane crank. This will increase sales enough to offset the R&D."
 
Sounds kind of like an E92 M3 with an aftermarket exhaust in the high RPMs. Doesn't sound like a Mustang at all. That's just my ears.
 
It sounds like a Can-Am car instead of a gurgle-gurgle-stang.

And black out the verticle supports in the upper grille area.

No. Can't you see the grill "fangs" are just the wraparound from the side ducts?

It has a nice, raspy soundtrack, almost like Aston Martin Vantage V8 but higher pitch. Very planted and changes direction well.. But it still looks like a heavy car forced to do cornering with good tires.
 
If I recall right, the first Mustang was the 1864 1/2.

Car seems to have a bit of a "whaaa whaaaa" which is fine by me.


Looks like it has a lot of waggle and hop in the suspension.
I suppose that's good for Americans who buy these cars for daily driving and 1/4 mile grocery runs but as a track car it seems much too soft and imprecise.
Guess we'll have to wait and see.
