Those renderings look pretty good, fairly modern looking and they ditched that stupid retro look. Turbo 4 is pretty cool though.

The EcoBoost I4 is the thing they're missing to really dig down in the bargain pricing area. If they're going to take the GT-86/FR-S/BRZ head-on, especially internationally, this is the best way to do it. If that's the case, and we see an even lower price on the Mustang, that'd be awesome.

I'm not at all impressed with the styling; it's as if the corporate design-language was just grafted onto the old Mustang. It looks like the return of the Probe, to be honest.

The green one is just tweaking fantasy by someone who gets OCD over a fender-to-tire gap or headlight opening of anything greater than an inch, which has no basis in reality for a production car in its targeted price range.

Why can't the Mustang just get smaller and lighter for a change? Surely with the same amounts of power on tap, that can't be a bad thing.

That's not an original design. It's another morphing of the basic Mustang shape that they refuse to ditch. I'm not saying there's anything wrong with that, the Green render is actually not bad looking, but it's pretty conservative marketing.

Also, why no IRS? They better give it IRS, it really would make it better to drive.

Both of them are pretty awful. These mustangs would have to be the most powerful, best handling, most beautifully designed on-the-inside cars for me to even consider getting one.

Straight from the title of the next issue of car and driver the next mustang this is the cover pic apparently the 4 cylinder is also confirmed for asia and out market while the v6 and 5.0 solider on fro now boss 302 will possibly have 450 hp

and you know this how are you a ford exec or something? Ill just quote what it says in car and driver "the delayed intro of the boss 302 will see an extra 6 ponies coaxed out of its engine raising that figure to 450'' Look maybe you are right maybe your not, right now your not really giving me anything to go on to even at the least make you credible not saying car and driver always is. im just saying it maybe a little more credible than you just pulling that out of thin air.

FYI this is all coming from the November issue of Car and driver
Im not trying to be a smart butt it just was odd you just shut the notion down of another boss (I do relize ford said it was gonna be a limited run but no one said when it would end it might be likly that the shelby gt500 may end or be changed to twin turbo engine dont know speculating)

I'm pulling it out of thin air???? Ford THEMSELVES have said it will only have a 2 year run like 1969-70. Limited run means its over, not rocket science.

That doesn't mean a Boss 429 or 351 is out of the question though.

Just because it wasn't on the spec sheet doesn't mean it's not there. Don't know about you but I'd want visual proof.

That looks pretty good imo and its going to be smaller and light than the current mustang because it going to b sold world wide. And all of the engines will stay the same.

EDIT:I forget the ecoboost engine

Well it would be a bit foolish to continue production (at least for now) if they follow the retro pattern. 2 years then, 2 now. I just can't see this new model wearing Boss livery if it doesn't look anything the original.

How would it be foolish? If Ford builds it, people will buy it in spades.

I'm always amazed each time I'm stood next to a 60s Mustang. They're not tiny exactly, but certainly smaller than many modern sedans. If they could make a modern Mustang that sort of size and keep the V8, it'd be excellent.

I can't argue with that, but to me and many other Ford fans, it just wouldn't be a Boss if it didn't look like a old Mustang, or the Boss it's being modeled after, following the new Boss's own heritage if you follow me (round headlights, '60s styled front end like the current Mustang etc). From a business stand point, it makes sense to continue production, but from a heritage view, it doesn't. They won't be making a new Boss anyways so it won't matter.

I thought they were planning on doing the Falcon on the same chassis. I may be mistaken. Just like the Camaro, it's going to have to deal with some sort of bloat in that regard. Still, the current car is what, 3600lbs? That isn't too bad. Could be better, but compared to the Camaro and Challenger, it's a lightweight.

I would be worried, however, if the 6th generation Camaro is going on the Alpha chassis with the ATS. That's already a relatively lightweight chassis given it's size, and that would likely mean that the Camaro is going to shrink a bit.

thats just the thing Ford is no longer going with old anything there is even speculation at at some point and time the V8 would be out or at least in only the top of the line stang. I dont know I dont think ford is going to be reto in its modles or its thinking so going only by what ford has done in the past may not be the best way to speculate things anymore

IRS? No retro styling... Yup, Ford has ruined the only good new car they make.

we will see Ford has been on a role with there new cars latley and trucks as well
though I am waiting for Dodge and chevy to step up.

I saw the rear end in C&D. The tail lights look a bit weird, nothing at all like previous cars. I'd say that the only flaw I've found so far with the design, but really the rest is so much of an improvement, I think the brake lights can slide.

Given the looks and recent Mustang trends in performance, I'm pretty much convinced that this will be the best iteration of the car.

Exactly, that's why they aren't continuing with the Boss. It wouldn't look right with the model.

I take it they still have the 3 red slots like a Mustang though, right? No need for another Fox Body rear end...

I don't see how a Boss version of a non retro Mustang wouldn't look right, especially the recent 302 which was performance orietend. You certainly don't need to be retro to have a big splitter, spoiler, and decals. Also the C&D sketch looks very Mustang to me for the most part.

That was the strange part, the lights looked nothing like what you would expect on a Mustang. For some reason, no image appears to exist on the internet so I can't post them, but they looked like something from an Acura TSX. The tail wasn't really recognizable.

I was at Starbucks today and I saw a picture of this in the cover of Car & Driver. I was so shocked about its styling I had to read about it.

I get why they chose the front lights, but the body shape is too much of a change. Slimline looks nice, but that shape looks way too much like an Aston. I personally believe if they had added more sharper elements to it (almost to the point of making it look kind of silly), we'd have something more outstanding that can still be identified as a Mustang.
