That means it would just be for clearance, and a supercharger doesn't need a hood scoop/opening, so it still could be a supercharger setup of some sort.

That's just the new patent pending external speedometer.

I'm seeing Mustangs all over Newcastle. Even saw a few coming out of the stock yard. The clear taillights really change the look. Looking forward to the GT4 and hopefully a Supercar. :D

What was even the point of the V6, it was slower and it's still a Mustang without a V8.
You could make the same argument for the 4-cylinder. And it all comes down to pressure from the government for better fuel mileage and emissions. Insurance is also cheaper.

I know its an unpopular opinion, but honestly the whole point to an American muscle car without a V8. If you're going to have a none-V8 engine you might as well have something neat sounding in the front, the turbo 4 for example. Thing is, might as well go for the V8 anyway, these cars aren't exactly light (though they've been getting lighter slowly). So to go for small displacement you might as well make sure its torque-ee enough.

Just an opinion though, no problem if somebody would want a 4-cylinder or 6-cylinder Mustang. First Mustang's had only 6-cylinders anyway. Just seems wrong without a V8 though. :P

I'll take a lighter normally aspirated V6 engine that makes the same power (basically) as a heavier turbo 4 cylinder engine for anything but lots of urban driving. Shame they gimped the V6 with less power than the previous V6, essentially no options, and a performance killing rear axle ratio. The V6 was made to look worse than it really was alongside the ecoboost, for marketing purposes...that much is plainly apparent. V6 engines are actually pretty awesome. It's a huge shame they have such a bad stigma when placed in American cars, they've always been marketed as the "lesser" engine or the "rental fleet" engine. Really they are extremely compact, make a great sound, and can make some pretty impressive power.

In my ideal world, Ford should have made a last hurrah for the 6-banger by doing an "R-spec" model with stripped interior, aggressive rear axle ratio, significant weight reduction (the cheap way, basically removing sound deadening and accessories), and uprated engine. I might actually buy such a Mustang. If the mustang was 3/4 the size, 3/4 the weight, and 3/4 the power, I would buy one tomorrow. Right now its just too big, heavy and powerful.

No. Actually, the V6s in the stang and the camaro are both amazing. The only problem is that there are even more amazing V8s available too.

Why don't they make inline-6 Mustang? Don't these engines have better rep than V6?

To elaborate on Omnis's point...

The traditional advantage of an inline-6 was it's inherent balance which meant that you could easily make a very smooth engine. Modern V6 engines have long since compensated for their odd firing order by various balancing devices. Today, the packaging compromises of designing a car to swallow an inline-6 are not really worth the very slight advantage in smoothness. An inline 6 will always be worse for weight, weight distribution, packaging, and actually vehicle size itself.

People who buy V6 Mustangs and Camaros don't care what engine's up front, they just want a Mustang or a Camaro. With that being the case, they might as well put an inline turbo four under the hood/bonnet if its going to be used in many other vehicles in their range. No one's going to be shedding any tears over the lack of V6 pony cars available.

The yellow GT I saw today had a black graphics package of some ilk, not actually dissimilar to this.

The 4.8 sounds promising, dual injected to avoid ugly carbon build-up, and a little bump in cylinder wall thickness to throw tons of boost at maybe.

4.8 doesn't roll off the tongue well though, reminds me off the basic Silverado V8 from '99-2013.

Just slap a V8 badge on it. Done. Aston Martin just calls their 4.7 "V8 (ad)Vantage".

Besides, " Boss 293" or "293" over "V8" may bring back some nostalgia.
