Generally speaking, durability and output are inversely related. A "lazy" engine tends to be a longer-lasting one.

Very true but the higher HP PI SOHC modulars last just as long as the lower HP NPI cars.
Its only a difference from 215HP to 260HP between the PI and NPI cars, the PI cars are not on the "ragged edge" that would cause durability issues.

Yeah it was chamber shape, intake runner length/shape and cam profiles that were the BIG 2v issues.Swapping the PI cams on a NPI would net a almost 20hp gain on its own.


The 4.6L made less Ford back in '93 downrated the 302. I have lined up quite a few 94-95 5.0 GTs VS 96-98 4.6GTs and barring driver error the 94-95 wins everytime. 94-95s usually dyno 5-10HP more than a 96-98.

Yup I agree. The 302 cars walk all over the 4.6 cars at our local strip.

I find the pushrods to be a lot easier to work on as well.

That too. Granted stock vs stock the 94-95 5.0s vs the 99+ 4.6s is a whole other story. I have always wondered how would a stock 96-98 Cobra VS a 95 Cobra R turn out since they are with in 5hp. Damn it you guys brought out my inner bench racer.

95 would win. 302 is ton lighter even with iron heads and intake. Change that and it has no chance.

99+ 4.6s tend to keep up with the 302 cars stock. Termi cobras rape everything stock wise.

95 R has the 351. The 95 Cobra isn't that much lighter only 20lbs or so plus the 96-98 has slightly better gearing . Trust me my '95 Cobra would lose to 96-98s Cobras on top end when it was stock.

Oh right duh I forgot. Yes top end I agree the 98-96 would win but the 351 has a boat load of torque coming right off idle so it would smoke it up until about 70. I know that from experience lol. The 96-99 would fly by either it would slowly walk away.

I doubt it, becaue theres a big "angle change" (I hope you know what it means) below it, I think ninja is correct.
Also it's that a scrape below the logo?

Shelby to debut new Mustang tomorrow morning. Doesn't look to be the new model though. Guess the GT500 is supposed to get better handling and more power.
