I really wish you hadn't pointed this out.I didn't realize that the trim around the window was chrome. What a horrible, tacky choice if it's the case on every model.

Even if it is, easily fixable with some plastidip. It might not be standard.
I like it. But I am a 'vert person. The convertible is ugly as hell, I'm sure Grandma will be begging for one more than the convertible T-Bird from the early 2000s.
It's so tacky that even Aston Martin (and Audi, and MB, and BMW, and VW and Rolls Royce, and Bentley) uses the same trick!![]()
It isn't. It's matte black. Under the bright light matte black can appear to have a bright sheen like chrome. None of the other photos have any highlights, including the other photos of the black car in question.I didn't realize that the trim around the window was chrome. Even so, a chrome strip could help certain Mustang trims look a little more upscale. Match it with some small highlights elsewhere and silver wheels and it would look really nice.
EDIT: Like that DB9.
Flat paints won't shimmer because they've got a smooth surface with no gloss. Matte paints will shimmer because the surface is purposefully rough so it catches light and glows. It won't reflect like gloss but it will glow which makes for a really cool ambience.Good catch. I wasn't aware that matte paint would do that.
I agree that, if it's matched correctly, a chrome strip wouldn't look bad. But when nothing matches, good lord, no.
I actually kinda hope Ford does offer a luxury-oriented Mustang. Or at least gives Lincoln the platform and has them make something pretty radical. With a bit of work the platform could make a competitive coupe offering, at least in terms of performance. It would take a lot of work on Lincoln's part to make it competitive on appearance and quality.
A return of the Grande trim level on the Mustang doesn't make sense to me BUT I think Lincoln should have a Mustang platform model.I actually kinda hope Ford does offer a luxury-oriented Mustang. A real Grand Tourer in the vein of the old Lexus SC400 would be cool.Something all-new would be interesting.
Same here the SC300 is cool because of the engine but the styling is very plain '90s.Yep and that is one of the problems with Lincoln. I cannot name another luxury brand without a flagship performance model or Grand Tourer.Never was a fan of the SC400. Lincoln has never been one for performance cars though.

It was more a personal luxury car which is like a very soft and push grand tourer. It was the 1st application of the 4.6 32v V8 3 years before the SVT cobra. They did quite well on the salt IIRC.Wasn't the Mark VIII kind of one? Coupe body with an all-Al V8 which made good power for its time. I recall reading that a team of Lincoln engineers took one to Bonneville for a speed run on the salt flats, albeit with management not being happy with the idea as they didn't want to associate Lincoln with racing.
It needs the axe.I mean they aren't horrendous but even still. Lincoln needs something.
I used to think about a new Continental a lot, until I realized it would probably never happen. Some combinations I thought of were:
Strengthened and lengthened Ford Fusion platform, 6.2L V8 from F-series optional (base 3.5L TT V6 from the SHO, maybe a mid range 5.0L model, but as I've thought about it, that wouldn't really make sense considering it has about the same output as the 6.2L), 4 door Town Car base model (with suicide doors) and 2 door option (unsure of what it should be called yet), air suspension designed specifically for this car (could be too costly), and prices similar to those of the Cadillac XTS, perhaps. LWB and SWB options would be cool to see, too, as would a convertible for the 2 door.
Yeah sadly. I wish Ford would go RWD for its flagship sedan platform. If they made a continental I'd expect it to use a chassis similar to the new Taurus.
