Do you have a source for that info ? I can't find any thing

If you are talking about the pic with woman next to yellow Mustang, that about that stupid E-birthday card.

I'll have to search for it but I remember reading something on it not that long ago.

Also, over 600 Mustangs:

For sure. But it's still pretty cool to have a factory line lock. That way you don't eat your brakes.

what is line lock ? don't know much about it

It allows you to lock the front brakes (and the front brakes alone) so you can do smoky burnouts. You can do smoky burnouts on the brakes by holding down the gas pedal and brake pedal at the same time, as the smaller rear brakes usually can't contain the torque of bigger engines (usually). But this causes accelerated brake wear. Line lock allows you to have your fun without wearing your rear brake pads down. Should help keep the brake fluid cooler, too.

I wonder how long it will take for people to notice the disclaimer "racing will void your warranty" and how many knuckle heads will cause trouble because they see these features and figure track days will not void warranties.

It will be interesting to see for sure. As far as I know, Chevy keeps their warranty if something breaks on a track day but the car must be all stock.

Well, someone just got fired.

On an unrelated note, it shall be interesting to see just how fast this car gets in a few years time. The 2013/14 GT500 already matches the Ford GT in straight line performance (both have 0-60s rated at 3.5 seconds, 1/4 mile at 11.5).

Wow, Ford are REALLY trying to win back the casual drag racing crowd they alienated with the independent rear suspension aren't they? "We took your live axle away......... BUT, here's a factory line lock!!"

I've heard rumors that the live axle will be an option for drag racers, but who knows.

I bet it will be only on the Cobra Jet cars. I would like to see an option for street cars too but I highly doubt it would clear the beancounters.

Never can tell.

I mean no one saw a factory line lock coming. What else could they be hiding? Hell, they haven't even announced power figures yet.

It's generally pretty difficult to design a chassis that fits both IRS and LRA. It would be an extremely compromised design to make the chassis of the new Mustang capable of mounting a LRA, I highly doubt they've considered it.

Before anybody comes in with the Cobra argument, consider that it is considerably more difficult to adapt an IRS chassis to work with LRA than it is to do the reverse. Also the Cobra's target demographic was much larger than the Cobra Jet's is. There simply isn't much incentive for Ford to spend the R&D to develop a Cobra Jet.

Rumors are rumors. A simple evaluation of the platform makes it seem unlikely that Ford plans to release a Cobra Jet version of this car.

I'm about 90% sure that they were already planning on bringing the Mustang to Australia. You know, to make up for killing off the Falcon.
