2015 Formula 1 Russian Grand Prix

Say what you will about the Russian Grand Prix, but how many races feature the head of state handing out the trophies?

Abd speaking of the trophies, they're actual trophies and not rubber Santander logos.

Double points for McLaren-Honda!
Now, if only the stewards are feeling punitive (Putin-ive?), they could double their points haul - after all, not only did Räikkönen cause a collision, but he drove a critically-damaged car.

I think that was quite brave from Perez, to hug Putin there out of nowhere. You know, because of all the bodyguards and snipers.

If Vettel is ahead of Rosberg by the end of the year he deserves a knighthood. (Or whatever the equivalent in Germany is.)

Mercedes look to have won the Constructor's Championship after Kimi is penalised for the collision with Bottas.

At the very least he should get the Order of the Broken Throttle.

Good race, one of the better ones this season, Kimi definitely to blame there, his engineer went on the radio beforehand to say it was all or nothing on that lap, well he went for all...and got eighth!

Gutted for Bottas as he had such a good battling drive up to that point which just proves that this sport is very cruel sometimes, a bit gutted for Rosberg too....

Glad Grosjean is ok, and that marshall had quite a lucky escape!

So I managed to miss the race like an idiot after failing to DVR the race :indiff:

What are these hats you guys were reffering to?

See that was my worry with this track after last year. You know it was lively last year because of the Winter Olympics but now what...other than what little regional events buy time to use the area it's just a desolate expensive show piece. One that they will forever race around until one of many factors happens to where they stop doing so.

Yes, will be interesting to see how they build around it, like prisonermonkeys said. For the race it was a bit better, some more people dotted around but still seems like 80% off what it should be and not sure how they can keep the area going. Quite common for these olympic places to die. Lot of enthusiastic fans around the start line so I'm hopeful it can be a fixture. As a track at least its better than Valencia, condusive to racing with tricky elements and located somewhere that's expanding F1.

Real shame for Nico. Would've loved to see a battle up front but F1 has certainly been good at robbing us of those type of battles over the years.

So apparently this was the drivers view during the post-race conference:

...which led to a rather livley briefing.

Gutted for Rosberg, Bottas & Sainz(two brake failures in as many days? Jeez). Glad to see Checo on the podium again.

Also, Kimi's incident got him a 30 sec penalty and dropped him to 8th, netting Mercedes the Constructors Title.
