I don't really know much about whats best in the downshifting techniques because I mostly use AT, as you well know.
If you're using your right foot only to brake, you'll need to move up your braking point to compensate for the lag time. If you're using both feet, be mindful to avoid having even a slimmer of throttle when you touch the brake pedal. Otherwise, your braking distance shoots up.@outlaw4rc Great video and informative text, thanks for posting. I have a question though. I try using the same braking points in these videos but also seem to overshoot corner entry. I was just wondering why this is? I mean, is it the way in which you guys downshift that gets you slowed down quicker? I have heard a few explanations and just wondering how true they were. They are:
Because of the way the videos are rendered, the actual braking point is sooner than it appears in the video.
When downshifting, staying in the higher gears a tad longer gets you slowed down quicker. Example: 6......5.....4...3..2
Is any of this true? or just why is it that when I try to use the same braking markers, I end up overshooting the corners.

As for the downshifts, I have noticed the car is more stable with a more methodical downshifting pattern. I can already say I'm doing that for the Les Combes entry to stay more consistent.
I liked it better when you were well behind me at the left/hander going down the hill.Because of my stroke, only one side of my brain that controls my left side is fully operational. I've explained before, but I'll do so again. I'm basically driving with only my left side, one arm and one leg. I had to rearrange by pedals and left orient them. Gas is extreme left with by brake to the right. My right arm operates just enough to rest on the wheel and aid with steering a bit, shifting is 80/20 hit or miss. So yea, used to operate pedals with both feet, but now only one so your bolded advice is what I'll adhere to.
EDIT: Down to 2'09.713 Still a pretty crappy lap, well off the pace.
EDIT: Now at 2'09.374 Still not happy (will I ever be ) but a 💡 just went off and clicked and finally figured out the go fast secret......miss the cones.

The fact that you can still run those lap times under those restrictions is an accomplishment in itself. I actually tried running laps like that and gave up after ten minutes. Ha ha, good one Cargo. But hopefully you will see me, at least my blue line, in front of you again before this finishes.
EDIT: 2'08.960 Any better @Dalone (Told you all I had things figured out now. ) Just a matter of putting it all together now.
Tired, going to stop here for now.

After a few short sessions yesterday, I just didn't have the runs for a sub 2:07.5 lap. Turn 11 (the one after Rivage) continually ends my flyers before the bus stop gets a sniff. I'm pretty content with my time, though, so I started to practice time trialing at Le Mans with the Esperante just to get a feel for what may be coming.
Took me ten laps just to get a valid run in.
The Panoz Esperante GTR-1:What's the Esperante? @outlaw4rc
My luck with bets is incredibly bad, so I'll pass.Just fyi and for a bit of fun, I have a bet going on in another thread ( Nissan GTR LM Nismo Confirmed for GT Academy Final!!! )on whether the track will be Le Mans or not. I say it WILL NOT be Le Mans. Losers will have to display my avatar that will say "I heart (love) CargoRatt. You would not be doing yourself any favors by betting against me.
The Panoz Esperante GTR-1:
Always had a fondness for this funky car, just not in stock form. Wheelspin was surprisingly not as big a problem but boy, the nose is such a pig.
My luck with bets is incredibly bad, so I'll pass.
I'm happy with my 2:09.838 right now, which means I'm number 1 in my friends list
Which makes me wonder, I'm using a Logitech Momo , which is a 200° steering wheel, is there a massive difference between a 200° wheel and a 900° one?
Also, if anyone ( preferably faster than me ) would like to add me , go ahead. I love having people to curse for being faster than me ( and , if I happen to beat their time it makes my day/week )
I'm using a 200deg wheel, a Logitech DF, but I've yet to use a 900deg wheel so I couldn't say how different they are.
Good luck on improving.
P.S. I've added a vid in the 2nd post showing a 2.07 flat with steering angle inputs etc.
You simply cannot rely on braking points as you see them in video replays because they always look to be 5-10 meters beyond that of live game play.
Do a lap on any track in free run then save and watch the replay, you will notice all of your brake points look to be 5-10 meters later in them.
It has always been like that.

Well, that explains a lot right there >> Thought I was going mad!! Thanks for asking the question @GTP_CargoRatt and thanks for the answer @nowcontrol!!
Outstanding!!
I told my daughter about your story of perseverance, determination and a NEVER GIVE UP attitude! ..to give her inspiration for her new "Cross Country" track team adventure. Very inspiring!! 👍👍
...............
I have made decent improvements, kinda loose a bit through the bus stop. Taking it easy, just not wanting to loose it all. So, the over all clock doesn't quite show my full potential as of yet...happy with progress so far though: 2:09.933
Thanks again for ALL the input and advice here at !!
Thanks Dan for the kind words, they are much appreciated. You know, I may not be the fastest driver here, mediocre at best in my opinion......or the most knowledgeable but if I can help to inspire people in the game or even in every day life through my own personal life's dealings, than I am more than happy to operate in that capacity. It really puts a smile on my face to hear that I have motivated and helped someone else to also not give up and to try and overcome whatever life throws at them. If I can help just one person overcome, then I am very happy. I figure God must have a plan for me, and this must be it, to help motivate people who want to be the best they can be. Tell your daughter I said good luck with her track team adventure, with dedication comes success.
"Success takes hard work and dedication and doesn't come easy, but when success does come, it is worth every effort you put into it" - Mitch "CargoRatt" Anderson
Well put and great quote!! I'll let her know, Thanks!! 👍
I personally think you are a bit too hard on yourself though! Your more than mediocre, no doubt about that! I can understand your perspective though always wanting to improve and all. With each step up the ladder there's always another goal to achieve...it can get frustrating, I know! When I get to the point of wanting to punch a hole in the wall, it's time to walk away for a bit! All the best to you!
Yes, we know, you're the best. You should go very far this time around in the real world. 👍
Yeah that's the plan 3rd times the charm
