After watching your example laps I've been trying to figure how to drive trough those chicanes on 2nd gear but just can't pull it off, well at least not so consistently as I can if I drop to first gear after first apex...

Same, If I get the first one bang on with braking point and turn in I can carry 2nd (makes me up to .3 faster to the split just after), but the second chicane I end up having to use 1st in order to not be too tight entering the right hander of the chicane.
This is what I remember doing before for staying in 2nd:

1. Brake and slam that gearbox down to 2nd
2. Hold brake until reaching first cone
3. Release brake and aim right for the second cone.
4. Ready brake tap or dab of throttle, depending on mph.

I have quite a few laps saved so I can throw them into the analyzer and see which method I want to stick to from now on.

Yo @Growling didn't you say you were going to Le Mans to watch the race? Do me a favor, every time you see one of those Nissan visions go by, point and laugh at them, might get bit boring after awhile but I think they deserve it :D
On the one hand, those drivers still get to compete in Le Mans. Even if it's a lemon, I'd jump at the chance to drive the real GTR-LM.

On the other hand, I'd probably end up parking it (or binning it) at Arnage and try to hitchhike onto something better.

What was interesting was that today I was able to hold it on second gear much better than yesterday :boggled: heh, that didn't help much for to be honest it felt like I ran out of talent couple days a go already, today it seems I finally run out of luck also   yeah, maybe I'll rest for the weekend and give it my farewell but according today it's not so promising :D

To be honest me too, despite I'd crash it in the first corner, or the first time I actually release the clutch, BANG in the pit wall

Haha I'm going to invite everyone to my camp where I've got my g27 set up and invite them to feel first hand how this car feels like it has a 100-0 weight distribution

Oh yeah have a great trip mate  hope they get that KERS working, would be interesting to see how the car really does on full blow.

Note that they disabled the KERS system due to issues, so they are basically running a FF 500-600bhp race car. It should be putting ~1000bhp to the rear wheels out of corners via KERS but isn't this year.

The one in GT6 has KERS functioning, and it's not impossible that a 3:25 time would be about right with it active.

The actual car is using KERS, but only 2MJ and only driving the front wheels.

They confirmed on Eurosport coverage last night that even the 2MJ KERS has been disabled. For the full weekend. So they are dragging around the heavy flywheel without any benefit.

I was listening to http://www.radiolemans.com/ podcast of yesterdays Qualifying this morining and they mentioned 2MJ. I also heard mention of what you have stated. All we can say for sure is they are way down on Horsepower.

So with essentially half of their power, being 21 seconds away on an 8.4 mile circuit really isn't bad!
The car will be competitive once bugs are worked out. Only problem with the hybrid technology is if it fails your screwed. Vibration and electronics don't mix well.

Eurosport live commentary included lots of direct Nissan discussions earlier this evening. And onboard shots showing the hybrid energy meter totally inert. The KERS system is disabled completely.

Somebody said earlier that Nissan had turned all of KERS/Hybrid systems off for the weekend, which is a shame because we won't see it's full race pace this year because of this. :(

Yeah, if they had it working I'd be worried if I was working/driving for Porsche because like I said, being 20 seconds off of the pace around 8 miles with no where near as much power is quite a feat in itself and we haven't seen it's current non-KERS pace so we're looking at it beating the P2's once they get some good times in, and the Rebellion's will have another team to play with this year (for once ).

It's funny watching the qualifying for Le Mans and lots of people are getting their laps canceled because they overused the track limits at Tetre Rouge, which is probably where most people get red laps/hit cones in this round. I know that's where I mess up the most at least... Anyway, I'm currently at 2:27.1! I've been ahead of that by at least .2 a few times but kept messing up. I even once got a red lap right before the end once and ended with a 2:26.9, which was quite annoying I admit... but I know I can do that if I kept it up so it's alright. I'll probably give it a shot later today.

I'm curious to see the tire wear on the Nissan in actual race conditions. If the fronts get chewed up, I can't see how it can even be close to competitive at full power.

Did want to share something about Tertre Rouge. Yesterday, what I did was upshift early to 4th, wait for the dip on the road, brake straight and hard for a moment before turning. The difference is I delayed downshifting to 3rd until I got close to the apex. Smooth out the wheel for the exit. Had my misses but I was starting to not lose time down the straight.

If I recall we had our own listing on the leaderboard but I don't think A Canadian went to the GT Academy for the real cars. I know my memory is not what it was being 57.5 now but to my recollection we have never been able to move on. I was first one year and the bragging rights were cool and I was blown away how many knew about it. As you get older the hand and eye coordination goes as do the reflexes. I think there are more than enough players to justify including us but the laws governing that stuff here are just a a pain in the you know what to work around from what I heard. Congrats on Canadian #1. I hope it sticks till the end but there always used to be a guy that came in last day and blew everyone away. Don't know if he still does it as I don't follow it like I used too.
There was a Canadian went to NYC last year for the NA finals.

Yes I've been informed. I must have been in a coma last year. Actually I spent the last two years in Quebec city and spent all my time learning to play guitar and somehow the Academy slipped by me. Thanks though for the info.

And made it to final three in Silverstone. His name is Mark. He is running under a US account as let Canada in. Can't beat him in virtual worlds yet but can beat him in real life at the go kart track her in Edmonton. Very good competition though.

Anyone have tips on how to keep this thing from jumping all over the place?

Hard to nail the racing line when the FFB is jerking the wheel every which way!

I've got my settings at 3/1/1.

I saw that the best quali lap of NISMO GTR yesterday in LeMan is 1 sec lower than gold in GTAcademy round 4. Without hybrid power and with only 500HP max power. So, it would do at least 3.28 imo if it was in full specs as we got it in GT6.

Hold the wheel tight. That's all you can do, really.

I finally decided to stay at 7 until the end. It's torture on my hands but I got my pace back. Finally beat my prior PB three times, including a 26.2 that had no business being red.

I've noticed a couple folks mention using multiple gt6 accounts. Can someone explain the benefits of more than one gt6 account? Thanks!
Ooh, for me there's no advantage, I was just picking the car on that account for testing and balancing purposes, and I set that time at the first valid lap.

I've set my DS3 sensitivity to 0. Should I increase or decrease it if I want to improve my time?

BTW, I use the right stick to accelerate and brake.

Man alive, this thing is atrocious............couldn't do a clean lap whatsoever before finally shutting everything down and went and got something to eat and went and picked something up for my car and then coming back home and setting a time just .6 off the gold standard and then just kept watching this thing sail on the high seas or clip a stupid cone and just stopped. Was listed as 2056th (which I presume is within the NA region).....and that was with the DS3 controller.

it finally got down to 3:36.995

I got my time down to 3:31.667, and in the first sector I can keep up with the top 20 ranks, but I lose time everywhere after starting at tetre rouge. I'm slowly starting to get the hang of that, and the chicanes, but the majority of my time is lost braking for the turn before indy, and then again at arnage. I've been watching and reading all these guides and some other peoples laps, but I just can't get it. I imagine it's because I mash the throttle trying to come out of those two corners. Any tips to get the most traction?

Anyone know how GT Academy tells which accounts are duplicate? One of the people i race with had 2 accounts last year in the top 10 and only got 1 email from them.
