2016 Formula 1 Gran Premio Heineken d'ItaliaFormula 1

Great news about Kevin!

And off topic: Curious what Massa & Williams have to say this afternoon (CET). gossip: Massa resigns for 2017?

Little bit shocked but not surprised by the news. Sad to see Massa go, but it gives Button a lifeline and basically confirms Vandoorne for McLaren next year.

What age is he, 18? Somehow I doubt he has enough points for a Super Licence yet.

Stroll had 20 points going into the 2016 season, you need 40, so he only needs to finish 3rd in F3 to get the other 20, he's currently 1st which would get him the 40 points outright.

Whether they take him is another matter but he'll probably have the points.

I don't know if this has been posted elsewhere but here is the F1-stars vs Football legends 5-a-side game.

Check this out, Redbull are running some extremely low rear wing for Monza:
Redbull monza Wing.jpg

It's soo flat that it doesn't require louvres on the side of the wing to dispense drag as there is none, the only car on the grid to not have it.

Wouldn't having the louvres make it even better though?
There is no effect as the wing is too flat to create the drag effect that the louvres help stabilise, which would increase drag if it created none.

It's like opening a front window slightly when the rear window of your car isn't down, it doesn't stop that air pressure effect as there is none and it's just creating drag rather then lessening it.

By making a rear wing with low enough angle to stop that, your essentially getting it into a zone of 2 stage drag removal.

Ferrari Wing in comparison:

Mercedes did basically the same in 2011. Under different regulations but still way lower than the competition.

Meanwhile, it seems that Verstappen replied to Villeneuve saying: "Villeneuve should moderate his words when he says I could kill someone, since he killed a person in Melbourne in 2001"

If true, it's another example of Verstappen's immaturity.

Wow that is a low blow if ever I've seen one
Even as an 18yo, Max should know that is a pretty 🤬 thing to say !
We all know Jacques likes to run his mouth...But still a response like that is just plain uncalled for !

This part would also seem distastefully ironic.
But is it necessarily untrue? Villeneuve loves to cultivate the in-your-face persona, but he does come across as pretty flippant. Especially when he is leaping into the fray like this. You would think that someone in Villeneuve's position would at least acknowledge that accident and the effect that the knowledge that someone died in it would have on a driver. But not Jacques Villeneuve, who is only in it for the media attention.

Reading Massa leaves, it's a bit sad he'll be remembered as the one who won the championship for only a minute.

I really liked his reaction last year Monza on the podium :)

Can't wait till VES Montoyas himself out of F1. Especially considering that he is practically quoting the Colombian.

Umm no http://www.theglobeandmail.com/glob...-after-fatal-villeneuve-crash/article4107108/

"
It wasn't [Mass']fault; he had nothing to do with it,” said Villeneuve, who was 11 when his father died.

“It was racing, and everybody gets into racing knowing the dangers. You can't blame someone else for someone's mistake. They were both racers, and that's it. It's not as if they had been in a race and one driver had purposely done something nasty.

“No one has ever said: ‘Here is the culprit,’ not even my mother.”
"

Villeneuve does have perspective.

Villeneuve does have perspective.
Maybe once - but now he's inflammatory for the sake of it, weighing in on subjects that he has no stake in because he assumes that we're all clamouring to know his opinion, as if he can be the decisive voice.

Max is atm on course to become the most disliked driver on the grid with comments like that. You might expect comments like that from internet trolls, not a F1 driver surrounded by a big PR team. 18 years or not, that's just bad bad form.

I was a big fan of his, but now his antics are definitely making me think he would benefit from a season or two in the lower formulas.
