Until that BMW article came out the other day there had been no mention of a DPi program from BMW and Ford being focused on the GT is no surprise to me.

As for team announcements I guess they will save the DPi announcements and show off the new chassis at COTA since everybody will be together on that weekend. I would not be surprised to see all 4 2017 P2 chassis on site in Austin so the Imsa and WEC teams can do a little car shopping.

If anybody doesn't know about the Caddy, Mazda, Panoz and Starworks DPi plans at this point they either have never been in this thread or live under a rock.

Here, because the newcomers are lazy apparently, I went back through the thread page by page and gathered the links. 💡

Panoz will most likely be competing in 2017 with their own DPi bodywork/engine combination, as will Cadillac and Mazda. Starworks will be entering an FIA spec P2 whilst the SoD guys have said on broadcasts they're waying their options and will most likely be in an FIA P2 as well.

Teams as of now:
Cadillac - WTR (1 car), AXR (2 cars)
Mazda - Factory (2 cars)
Panoz - Factory (1 car)
SoD - Independent (1 car)
SW - Independent (1 car)
Honda/Independent - MSR (1 car)

Total - 9 cars

This all for 2018.

But what about the GT4 cars being allowed into GS now? That's gotta bring some cars like the Ginetta right?

Reading up on the 2018 stuff, there is a part in there about the GS class saying that GT4 spec'd cars are allowed "...with the requirement that they are from a mainstream automotive manufacturer." I took that from dailysportscar, but that phrase pops up everywhere that talks about the new regs.

The way I interpret that, it seems like they are not going to allow the prototype - esque cars into GS; no KTMs, no Sins, no Ginettas (unless Ginetta makes street cars I'm not aware of). Although that may put KTM in a fuzzy area because they do make road legal cars. Depends how they define mainstream. Could be wrong, but that how I read that to be.
On the upside, though: Maserati and Lotus :)

And also... 4 hour Continental series enduros????

GTLM FP3 all 9 cars within 1 sec and GTD the top 11 within 1.1 sec, Mazda leads in P but I think this weekend will play out like most do when the DP's are faster on the straights. The Mazda's will lead early in the race then lose out in the pit stop and will get stuck behind the DP's who will do like the always do and block and park their car at the apex then squirt away when they hit the straights. Shank will be strong too but their chances are always based on how they catch the yellows and when they can get Pew out of the car.

GTLM and GTD will be a toss up and as usual GTD will be won by the team with the best fake silver driver. PC will be won by a Chevy V8.;)

Edit isn't loading. For some reason the sound is only coming out the TV that I am chrome-casting to. Got it working and now there's a car on it's sidde with a guy getting out Dukes of Hazard style. What happened?

Check out the Production CAr racing thread, but Hindman, as awesome as he is, made a move around the outside and the Ford tried squeezing him out leading to the ford getting flipped.

I'm just gonna get the popcorn ready for more BOP bitching. If only I could make money off this.

Both RLL Panzers sent to the back of the grid they were already at the back of for boost violations and the 67 GT will join them after running to low to the ground. 7 PC also sent to the back for being underweight and the 22 GTD car gets a penalty for adjustments made on pit lane during qualifying.

Joined in late. What happened to the #66 GT?
Same boat. I only had it recording on FS1 so I'm fast forwarding through golf now. I'm thinking I'm gonna miss the start... yea great.

So how did it start? Couldn't even get it to work on the Fox Sports Go app...

I was enjoying IMSA TV coverage on their app all weekend. No commercials, Radio Le Mans broadcasters, great stuff. Then Fox ruins everything. It should be obvious that they can't do this right. America needs something better for non-stock car/indy car racing.
