The stupidity of fanboys is beyond astounding at times. I checked IMSA's Facebook page and the first comment on one of their posts of a few pics of the winners was a fan crying that a BoP adjustment needs to be given to the Corvette on the grounds that they made adjustments to the GT after it went on a tear. If the guy watched the race, it would have been obvious to him that the 67 Ford that got passed on the last lap (supposedly lost power due to a turbo issue) and Risi's 488 that got taken out by the Mazda were the classes of the field today. Milner and Gavin won this race on good strategy and being in the right place at the right time.

I'm convinced that there could be a 4-way photo finish in GTLM with each brand represented and people would still find something BoP related to complain about.

Disappointed that I couldn't go to the race in person, hopefully next year I'll make it out there for both the IndyCar and
IMSA weekends.

Yeah there's no way #67 was full power. They were right with or even faster than the Vette's up until that point.

Race ended up with an exciting finish, early it looked like the Mazda and GT had the cars to win. Too bad for the Ferrari, we were sitting in turn one and had a good look. I was surprised Milner got the last lap run on Westbrook, nice!

I miss the ALMS... The merged series sucks in comparison.

I miss the ALMS when it had loads of cars in classes, not so much the final years where P1 was literally a 2 car class/championship (might as well never count the Dyson car since it retired more times then Brett Farve), P2 was basically a one sided battle with the same car, GTC was more or less a useless sales exercise for Porsche and of course, the introduction of PC (good god, why did I defend that class?). GT was the only decent class with some sort of competition. The races at Road America were literally the only races when it was enjoyable (Maybe because for once, the Dyson Lolas didn't break something and just handed the win to the Muscle Milk Team). Apart from that, ALMS was hardly the series it once was so frankly I prefer the merger instead of watching it just die a slow and painful death it was inevitably going to do.

As for the comparison, its not even necessary as the series hasn't been around long enough and so much has changed (like the WEC more or less taking away P1 from any local Sportscar championship).

My opinion is that LMP1 had to be removed, 2 cars per average in ALMS and ELMS, the cost is just to high and the money interest just isn't there,
The LMPC class I'm fairly sure that I'm going to wind up in the hated corner for saying this, but PC should be BoP'd up to run with the prototype class, the gentlemen drivers will keep them out of the way for most races but it will make qualifying far more interesting, and with pro drivers make the prototype class more interesting,

2000-2009 comes to mind.

2006-2008 ALMS was probably the best endurance racing ever. Who knew having a LMP2 and LMP1 battling could be so good.
The Penske Porsche Spyder LMP2 era was indeed the best. It was amazing to watch the then almost unbeatable and mighty Audi's be taken on by the Porsche's, who weren't supposed to compete with them at all for the overall win. GT2 was at its high point as well.

Here's the race in glorious 60 FPS.

^IMSA proving their an amazing sanctioning body by doing this "day after" full race upload routine, and keeping with it. 👍 Combined with them dropping PC, all we need now is 4 separate colored number plates and ditch the spoiler end plate colors. Come on IMSA we can understand multiple colors. :P

At this point we should expect good finishes at Road America

What brand/car was Lucas Luhr driving in this race? I just glaced at the rear lights for a split second and it looked like an Aston Martin DBR1-2, but that surely can't be that, since this was an open cockpit design.

I believe I heard them say Honda?

EDIT: And after watching a short clip of a DBR1-2, I realize that the taillights look nothing alike. Must be thinking of another car from Project CARS.

:dunce:

It is indeed a Honda, the HPD ARX-03a to be exact. It's very similar to the Oreca 03 that is in Project CARS (Both can be traced back to the Courage LC70 iirc), so that might be what you're thinking of.

A few pics from the weekend. This was the first race I ever attended and I had an absolute blast. Even my wife (who has no interest in racing whatsoever) enjoyed every bit of it. Didn't get any race pics since I wanted to experience my first race with my own eyes, instead of thru a camera lens. The wife did get some decent videos that I may upload to Youtube at some point.

And to cap it off, on the Monday drive back home we caught up to the Turner guys going thru Chicago.

I'm late to the party, I taped the race but saved it to watch with someone. I can't believe the ending in GTLM with just under 5min to go after the full course caution. I was excited when the #4 picked up a position or 2 and I was settling in on just a podium 3rd place finish but when Milner caught the Ford on the last lap my heart was pounding lol. Going from 5th to 1st in 5min.

Feel bad for the #62 they had pace to take the #67 and get revenge. And wow that attempted pass by #911 on the inside to try to get past the leading Ford and Ferrari when they were bunched up I was like :scared: but then he spun. The ending was pretty crazy. Awesome race.
