2017 F1 Constructor technical info/developmentFormula 1

Definitely the looker of the field so far. Lot's of little trick aero pieces scattered around. Makes you wonder what Red Bull will have been able to cook up, considering they are the masters of aero, and Newey being an expert at finding loopholes.
Ferrari and Red Bull always tend to have the best looking cars, looking forward to their creations.

Red Bull - yes. Ferrari, well...

They certainly don't fear using the ugly stick if need be.

As much as i hate Mercedes in F1....

That's one nice ride 👍
I just wish they were likeable, because they've always made the better looking car in the field, for the most part (2014 everything except the Red Bull was ugly).

Is it just me, or is Mercedes AMG F1 W08 EQ Power+ the most awkward name for a Formula One car ever?
How about the 2010 "BMW Sauber F1 Team" that was using Ferrari engines?

I know what you meant. That really is one of the more awkward names to say there has been in a while.

The W08 is very elegant, very Mercedes. Cars certainly look miles better than last year, but imo the Merc would look better with a shark fin, but that's just me. It's certainly been packaged well, that's for sure .

As someone said earlier, it's just a bit 'meh'. Sure it's been designed well with some neat aero touches but otherwise it isn't that 'spectacular' and definitely not 'stunning' to me, just good looking.

Sauber and Reanult in particular, are winning it for me.

Mercedes must be very confident in their aero given how conservative this design is compared to the other teams showed so far.

Tomorrow will be the big day. The "new" McLaren could be the headline grabber and we'll see what direction Ferrari will take with their car.

That's not conservative, they have more aero going on then any team shown thus far.

Yes, I know. I know in my heart of hearts they did say that, but it still seems like an odd thing to admit, even if it's bleeding obvious. It's as if even if it does do well, they'll be left with an immense sense of regret, somehow. 'Yes, the nose makes our car faster... But at what cost?'

But you asked if it was unfortunate then why did they let it happen, and I'm simply saying that in the same article they explain why. Cause to their best abilities that's how they're design plan said it show look, great thing about F1 and Prototypes is that engineers all have the same regs and yet come to different solutions for them. It's why many wondered how Mercedes could have a nose like they did in 2015, when everyone else had an iteration of Pinocchio.

They know at what cost, looks. And if looks won Championships, there are a ton of back markers and mid fields that should have taken the crown. That's all it says to me. We sacrificed a useless thing for a useful thing.

People calling the Mercedes ugly are ridiculous, it's the only car without the stupid thumb nose and instantly wins aesthetically because of that. If it wasn't a Merc' I'd love it more. :sly:
