2017 Formula 1 Heineken Chinese Grand PrixFormula 1

God dammit again. Double retirement for McLaren, both due to fuel pressure it seems.

Alonso said a drive shaft issue. Which is something that I've been thinking about with these new cars, in conditions like this. With such massive rear tires and the amount of torque made, when they finally do get grip how well can the drive shaft hold up.

Grand Chelem potentially on for Lewis if he gets the fastest lap and wins, I think he has led every lap so far?

Lewis put in the fastest and yes has led every single lap.

EDIT: Bottas is now being called Nico by his race engineer, poor guy

You can tell Lewis and Seb waited for a season to battle each other. That bromance ain't lasting long though.

Actually I think Lewis and Seb both realize that a close fight for the championship is good for them too. Prost vs Senna, Lauda vs Hunt, Schumacher vs Hakkinen are legendary and if they really want to make history a close championship is the best for their respective legacies.

@RX-7_FD3S Both have had battles before, but I agree with your point. Hope Kimi somehow joins that fight. He has been terrible so far.

Also re-RBR, Max is becoming the number one driver if the first 2 races are any indication.

The other Finn is more likely to join than Kimi

Both really need to step it up, I thought Kimi would be up there with the new regulations but he has been terrible.

Bottas isn't too bad during Quali, and he did well at Australia but he needs to step it up.

The problem with Kimi is that he need a car that behave how he likes, which doesn't seems to be the case atm, that being said, Kimi could have been 3rd today if Ferrari had pitted him 5 or so laps earlier.

Kimi seems to struggle the initial year of new regs, look at the 2014 vs 2015 season with him at Ferrari. I think change is something Kimi isn't a fan of, but so far it isn't as terrible as he's seemed to be prior. Bottas I think is trying to feel out his new team really.

Also can we talk about how ugly that trophy is, another promotional trophy rather than a unique design...we get it a crappy beer company paid a lot of money to Sponsor the race and other things F1.

So happy when Lewis got the fastest lap by less than half a tenth and it held to end of the race. His 3rd F1 Grand Chelem :), not often you see it done.

The good news is that we had an enjoyable race after the snoozefest that was Australia.

However, it's hard to make any judgments when a damp track had a major impact the first half of the race. Now, if Mother Nature could just intervene the rest of the way, we'll be set.

@sems4arsenal Agreed, hope Bottas can deliver too, that spin while warming tires was a bit embarrassing I thought.

On another note I love how those 3 guys (Lewis, Seb and Max) respect and interact with each others. Good podium stuffs.

Looked like Lewis was trying to pull Seb in to his psychological game against Max, "this dude", "this guy", "we need to watch the replay to see what he did".
