Nope they've had them for a couple of years, but they hadn't been very good (like in the WEC) until the last year or so.

A hybrid and some sandbagging disguised-GT1 cars.

I'm sorry, is Turbo a bad word? Allow me to abuse the hell out of it then :mischievous:

A turbocharged V4 and a turbo Ferrari or Ford. And Porsche going with a P1 turbo gives them a perfect platform to work a GTE engine.

Turbo Ford, Turbo Ferrari, Turbo BMW....

Now wut. U gon punish me? :P

What won the 24 Hours of Daytona and 12 Hours of Sebring?

Kinda can't miss it, what with that HPD Turbo V6 and all :mischievous:

I was talking about GT, I really don't care about Prototype (unless its Mazda because we have one). Note the usage of "5.5L V8", the Sherman tanks...err...DP's use 6.2L V8's.

Not my fault you weren't specific :P

Also, what do you think powers that Mazda? Spoiler alert: Its not NA ;)

I was specific, the DP's don't use the 5.5L V8. ;)

Mazda is an exception only because I am biased because that's what we have and what I want to have as my own car. ('06 Mazda6 with sport package  , bruh the chassis is bae) Plus they're a nice manufacturer.

They are 5.5l V8s.

There's nothing that says Porsche couldn't have been testing their LMP1 engine in a GTE chassis, just as a test for any potential changes they could be making for next year. There's no reason for the car to have had the NACA duct on the roof and the extra ventilation at the top of the rear window if it was running a N/A Flat-6.

My point exactly with the evidence given...but there was no follow up to the debate from the user who suggested it wasn't possible.

Is it too early for Nissan to issue a press release claiming overall victory in the next ELMS round? 30 of the 38 entries have Nissan cam covers. http://www.europeanlemansseries.com/assets/1/course/116/ELMS2016-RedBullRing-Entry-List_a8f0f3.pdf
HOLY 🤬 ! Might as well call it the "European Le Mans Series presented by Nissan". I didn't know that the team running the #13 was Polish, that's a neat little outfit I'll root for along with the Americans now. :gtpflag: Crazy how few GT's there are, but the Nissan V8 in those LMP3's is music so that makes up for it. :D

Looking at that Article, turns out BMW had built the M6 GTLM (and possibly the Z4 GTLM I'm guessing) in anticipation for a different set of rules:

Marquardt explained the GT3-based IMSA version of the car was built as a result of GT convergence talks unexpectedly breaking down in mid-2014, at a time when the M6 was already in development around a planned single platform.

“The GTLM car was a result [rather] than a desire,” Marquardt told Sportscar365. “We had to do this solution that we see now. It wasn’t intended from the get-go. So we’ll have to clearly think about how we attack it in the future

And to think so many people were thinking BMW was just breaking rules just to do it.

I remember something along the lines of GT+ in 2014 but never anything more about it since then,

Well the Ferrari 488 GT3 can be turned into a GTE with a kit from Ferrari that's purchasable by 488 GT3 owners, meaning you could run the 24 Hours of Le Mans then the 24 Hours of Spa with the same car basically.

The Porsche is the same deal this year apparently, but its extremely uncompetitive in both categories most of the time,
