On TV or the Fox Sports Go app...
View attachment 621937
All times Eastern. And I think the whole thing will be streamed on IMSA.com. I'm not sure about the app.
You guys probably know that I tend to criticize Fox a lot, but that is a pretty impressive tv schedule. All but an hour of the race is being broadcasted, 3 hours on the main network, 7.5 hours on FS1, and the race is staying on FS2 for a prolonged period (11.5 hours) with no switching around every hour or so like with Le Mans.

We'll see, they may interrupt it for live something or other

As far as I know the IMSA.tv streams are geoblocked for US viewers. You can easily get around this block by using a VPN. A good VPN only costs about $4 or $5 per month and they're easy to set up. Well worth it to me. Don't waste your time with the free VPN's as they usually throttle the connection to just a few Mbps and therefore the streams stutter & lag like crazy.

Even when he's serious he makes me laugh. When talking about the A/C system "it was freezing my nipples during practice this morning"
That one and a couple other lines had me laughing. His Facebook post about his mullet a couple days ago had me laughing too.

Those in the USA that have access to FS1 can also stream the whole race through the FOX Sports GO app. I don't know if that was mentioned.
That will be my way of viewing the race, along with the FS1 coverage and the IMSA timing.
The weather looks OK for most of the weekend (Sunday AM chance of rain) and the race should be great.

It was but you need a cable service provider log-in to access it, no?

Yes, you need access through FS1, which for me is Comcast. I don't think FS1 is exclusive to cable only.

You don't have cable service IIRC. How about Playstation Vue, are you using that at all for TV/sports? They have FS1 and FS2, maybe not in all markets.
I'm assuming if you have a Playstation online. If so I would see how much that is, and it ain't the cable company. ;)
Vue is not available in my little rural area.

Haven't had cable in over 6 years. Just sold my PS3 a couple weeks ago since I wasn't using it and probably won't get a PS4 until GT Sport comes out. That's fine, looks like I'll miss the race. At least the Bathurst 12H will be live streamed for free, looking forward to that.

I would consider buying this shirt if Jeff Gordon was not in front. The Taylor boys should be up front with Max and Jeff in back.

It should be more like this shirt. ;)

2 questions:

What time does qualifying start and end for the Daytona 24hr? I understand on Thursday, but what are the times?

How is the IMSA different from the WEC? Is it just the American version of the WEC? I understand it came after Grand-Am and the ALMS merged.

Thanks! :)

No LMP1, the spec PC class, GTD is GT3 based vs GTE-AM. On track the pit stop procedures are different, The IMSA stop is much more a part of the competition than the WEC. IMSA allows fuel and tires at the same time and there is no requirement to shut the engines off. 4 tires/fuel/driver change takes 25-30 sec vs 1 min in the WEC. Also the location of the garages/trailers in IMSA means that if a car needs repair it will need to be done in the pits or pushed behind the wall or towed back to the garage vs the WEC were the garage and pit box are separated by a line on the ground. IMSA will also block off the garages at a track like COTA and install a concrete wall to create a barrier between the track and the teams.

The biggest difference you will see in competition is in the use of yellow flags. Safety cars and the wave around of lapped cars vs FCY keeps the field bunched together. Cars that will have issues early in the race this weekend will not be out of the race because if they can be repaired and only lose a few laps to their class. They will have a chance to gain those back under yellow. In the WEC if you lose 3 laps you are pretty much done for the day.

There are a lot more subtle differences but those are the biggest you will see on TV/Stream.
