Why does N. America need ANOTHER GT3 or GT4 series when we've already got quite a few. Just gonna dilute it even more.

How is 1 GT3 series (Pirelli World Challenge) and 1 GT4 series (Contenental Tire Sports Car Challenge) "a few"? WTSCC isn't exclusively a GT3 series, its a multi-class series in the same vein as the 24 Hours Of Le Mans.

As for why I think Trans-am needs to get rid of its outdated T/A, how else is it gonna grow? The Old DPs (as much as I liked them) even got to a point where they just couldn't go any further.

Making TA go to GT3/GT4 would WRECK the series even more.

How exactly? Its a Spec-Series (something that isn't quite "Trans-Am") where the only literal difference is bodywork (Excluding TA3 since its basically the only thing that isn't spec). Honestly, I can't see how you can wreck a series using spec cars even more so then it already is, especially when man-children like Tomy Drissi are still around.

IMSA and PWC each have classes for GT3 and GT4 machinery.

You've got Howe chassis TA2 cars that are absurdly cheap to buy and run, with HUGE fields(TA2 is currently the only good thing about TA), why would you make everyone dump their cars to buy new equipment that costs more on initial purchase and to repair?

Unlike IMSA and PWC, Trans-Am is still VERY much club racing, you can't be having the teams be spending hundreds of thousands of dollars every few years to do something new, when you've already got a good formula in the TA2 class.

Trans-Am isn't supposed to be a club series. It was once the home of the best racing in the world, it was a factory driver/factory team paradise. It's a shell of its former self.

Again, things I all know.

We're discussing at the mo Trans-Am in its current state, not in its past life. In its current state it is very much club racing, and its ship has sailed for it to ever come back to relevancy in the American public eye, imo.

  • "JIMMIE JOHNSONS PIT CREW STILL SUCKS BUT THEY HAVE IMPROVED A LITTLE BIT."

  • "KASEY KAHNE FINALLY LEADS A LAP. JUST ONE."

  • "JEFF GORDON COMES OUT OF RETIREMENT ONCE AGAIN TO RACE A COUPLE OF TIMES AND EVERYONE JUST FORGETS HES RETIRED."

  • "CHASE ELLIOT FINISHES RUNNER UP FOR THE NASCAR MONSTER CUP SERIES BEHIND DALE JR BECAUSE HE PUT A 24 ON IT"

  • "JOSH WISE SIGNED BY HENDRICK MOTORSPORTS TO RUN THE #88 FOR THE 2018 SEASON"

Well, it took over 5 months to get but I got my 1:24 Matt Kenseth Tide Ride Darlington Throwback in the mail today. It's been so long that I actually forgot I ordered it until I got an email from NASCAR saying it had shipped.

I don't think delusional counts as bold. :P

People already call Hendrick cheaters and they weren't even close to dominating in '16.

Realistic bold prediction: At least two chase spots will be earned from points.

Nonrealistic bold prediction: The France family gets so pissed at Brian that they oust him from his position and replace him with someone that has common sense.

It's kind of a throwback to what the first Target Chip Ganassi Racing Indycar looked like though...

Add to that when Mears drove a Target car for Chip, I think it was Casey, I just remember there being a predominantly white Target car when Chip had the 40, 41, and 42.

More like 4-5 spots, I think. Three people got in on points last year (McMurray, Elliott, Dillon).
You can subtract Smoke, Carl, and Buescher from last year's winners. That leaves six spots.
You can most likely add Chase Elliott to the win column. That leaves 5 spots for points.

In order to get back down to 2 spots on points, you would need all of last year's winners + Chase Elliott, then three more new winners.
So... Austin Dillon, Jamie McMurray, Ryan Newman, Ryan Blaney, Clint Bowyer, Erik Jones, Daniel Suarez?

I hate to be the buzzkill... but that is a fan made scheme
Oh really? I saw it on Jayski so I just assumed it must've been the real deal. Ah well, I guess that leaves something to look forward to.

On the Carl Edwards topic, I'm actually super sad. As an Australian who doesn't get much NASCAR over here, Jeff Gordon was favourite as I grew up purely because of his paint scheme. Once he retired, I moved on to Carl Edwards and Kyle Larson. Partly because I think Carl is great sportsman and has personality to back it up, and Kyle because he is a great talent that the sport can grow around in the future. When Carl announced his retirement, I was sad because he was always so close yet so far, and partly because it means I've lost a favourite driver. Right now, with the up and coming generation, there really isn't any of the larger than life personalities that I watched from a distance when I grew up,
And I feel as though it's hurting the sports popularity. I don't by any means think we need fiesty rivalries or stuff like that, because imo that sort of stuff is trash, but we need multiple Jeff Gordon's or Dale Sr's that the sport can use to grow with. Because right now, there really isn't much up and coming star power.

I have a feeling a lot of people in this thread aren't going to be happy with the new, radical changes to the format of Cup this season...

Have you seen what the changes are and can you reveal them? Or at least confirm if I'm abandoning this?

Not reassuring so far, which is sad because I was really keen on seeing how well Danial Suarez could do.
