Wrap it up with a helmet trade! Class act, these guys!

And I'm leaving this here because Vettel messing around with the radio split my sides.

According to Jim Utter, this is what to expect:

  • Teams will know before the season begins how each race will be divided, which will be based on race and track length.

  • At the end of each segment during the races, bonus points will be awarded for those drivers running in the Top 10.

  • During the segment breaks, there will be coordination between NASCAR and the TV networks to ensure as little on-track action (including pit stops) will be missed as possible.

  • At the end of the race, the normal points will be awarded to the finishing order of the race as they have been.

  • A driver’s total for the event will include the normal race finish points plus any top-10 running bonus points collected in the segments.

  • The 10-race Chase for the championship will be conducted in most part as it has, but there is expected to be an opportunity for drivers to earn bonus points during the Chase.

That sounds even stupider than the Electoral College points system.

The racing is good enough to enjoy without stupid gimmicks.

If one can read into the article a bit further "...award points at various stages of the race...", which I interpret as 'don't stop the race, but give points out at the 25%, 50%, 75% marks' then it may not be all that bad.

Saves the guy who has been running well all day, then gets taken out in the annual Rousch Tri-wreckta...Bi-Wreckta, the day isn't a total loss.

I'll give it a chance, but Busch is right, pick something and stick to it. Enough with the changes for the last five years.

They make mentions og segment breaks though, which leads me to believe there will be a caution period at each increment.

If they aren't stopping the race and just awarding bonus points at 25%, 50% etc., I don't think it would be that bad.

Actually stopping the race and taking breaks is a stupid idea, though.

I enjoyed Jr's schedule idea.

30 races, 20 short tracks, 8 1.5mi, 2 plate races.

Re: the segmentation, I hope the Daytona 500 and Coke 600 aren't split up, nor the road courses.

The more I think of it, I wouldn't mind the split race idea for tracks that have two races. At Daytona for example, you could go to the 500 to enjoy the traditional format or go to the 400 to see the split format.

THROWIN IT OUT THERE.

With NASCAR obviously being bodies over tube frames, they should go full Turismo Carretera and just run vintage bodies. Just refer to the cars by their manufactures.

InB4 people start blasting the Hooter girls like they have the Monster girls for daring to do exactly what Miss Sprint Cup has done for years, just with less clothing.
