There was discussion over night about them using tire warmers in special circumstances. When the DPi cars were on cold rain tires in the wet they were downright dangerous and almost impossible to drive.

Has it been dangerous, or just soemthing a lot of the European drivers aren't really used to?

I think it's awesome seeing the guys struggle to keep the car on the road...like so many have said beofre, there are two pedals, and the throttle goes both ways.

The only reason for tire warmers at Daytona I can understand is that, because of the banking, and the speed needed to run on the banking, there is a safety issue. We saw Hartley crash on the banking, but I think there was a lot of driver error there, no so much "undrivable" conditions. Otherwise, most of the issues have been with guys overshooting braking zones in the infield, which to me just indicates that guys are going in too hot...to me the slow speed stuff isn't as much of a safety issue.

It would be really interesting to have a GT500 driver in a DPi car in this race to give some relative comparisons.

They would tip toe though the horse shoe and the front end would still plow so much that they went off. Then going so slow around the track it causes a hazard for cars at full speed. Then you end up with what happened to the #22. I'm surprised that more of those type of incidents didn't happen. All I'm saying is that in certain conditions, such as when it's cold and wet like last night, they should allow their use.

What woudl be the "extreme" end in terms of cold temps that they would see in Japan ...lets say at Motegi in Octobre or Novembre?

How about 10 deg above freezing and 14hrs straight of rain to start with. And as you might not have noticed this series doesnt have a tire war going on like SuperGT does. ON top of that they are running the old spec DP tires because they were concerned the new P tire couldnt handle the load of the new cars. When cars going 20 mph cant turn on a paved road exiting the pits then there is a BIG F'ing issue.
