I want McLaughlin to win it, couldn't happen to a better guy, but I just can't go past Whincup. I know after Whincup's last title I made the bold claim he wouldn't win another one, but this is Whincup's to lose. He's a lot better under pressure than McLaughlin, he's also been in this situation before and more often than not, succeeds. Let's also not forget that Van Gisbergen will without a doubt play a role in this championship being decided. He's taken out a title challenger on purpose before (Phillip Island, David Reynolds), so it wouldn't surprise me if he and McLaughlin come to blows sometime over the weekend.

On a more positive note though, I'm loving this track and scenery. From the looks of it, just one small mistake will end your weekend or race. Simply running wide can snowball into something much worse, as seen by Barbera's crash in the first practice session. Passing looks like it will be quite hard, and require some balls of steel to be able to do it cleanly.

Which is why I am hoping Scotty can qualify up front and stay there.

Another plus is that Sunday's race has a top 10 shootout. 👍

Edit: Caruso appears to have some speed this weekend. Hopefully that translates in qualifying.

Came home after VASC P1. I'm looking at Foxtel to see how the track looks. Just doesn't do it justice. Best places to watch are anywhere on Watt St. As the cars pull gears, the pop off the walls is deafening. Next spot is under the walk bridge at Nobby's roundabout. I watched cars just wiggling over the bumps and dip in the road. Supremely awesome. I'll be at the track all day both days. Watching from my friend's place in the brown building, on the corner of King/Watt St.

If any of you can get here next year, do it. There's not a bad spot to watch from.

I want the #17 to win. So, I'm keeping hope alive.

Edit: The coolest thing was, waiting on line and seeing Slade and Percat pull up to the entry gate, on BMX bikes. Then, Caruso showing up late and weaving through the crowd on his BMX.

I’m finally getting the chance to see the cars in action on the Newy circuit. It looks fantastic, I have to say. Really, really good looking. Great job with the pit entry/exit and the facilities look top notch too.

I also think they should offer extra points to any driver who manages to crash perfectly within the lines of one of the many parallel parking spots.

It's funny with Giz saying "Zero passing spots". Yet, he'll "fire it up the inside" on anyone.

Even though drivers were exploring the limits, I still think there will be slip ups. With the soft rubber, weather and 95 laps, last two races of the season, drivers are going to go for it. Can't wait for the first race.

It’s interesting that no one was able to get close to McLaughlin’s best few laps from P2 yesterday. Granted, there wasn’t any practice this morning, oddly enough.

Scotty doing what he needs to do. And Caruso carrying good speed from practice into qualifying. Hopefully he doesn't fluff up the start like usual.

Feels warmer at the track, than yesterday. Plus, isn't much of a breeze like yesterday.

The crowd was loud when Scott went by. Just awesome. i was amazed when the announces said Caruso goes 4th. Holy snaps! Just looked like he was struggling. Going to be nuts in a couple hours.
