I've cleansed my twitter feed of this nonsense since August, don't start it here.

Be interesting to see what happens when you play someone in the top 10. :mischievous:
Yes it will be the real test when we play Totenham in two weeks, we have 9 points from 3 games we should have got 9 points from, but the manner in which we have won has been fantastic. We've had a few years of turgid slow, boring football under managers who were aiming to grind out 1-0 and 2-1 wins every game (and not winning often enough), so to see Ole come in, who is a club legend, alongside Phelan coming back and see them get us playing fast attacking football again is a joy to watch.

Under Jose had we still won those last 3 games the matches wouldn't have been entertaining and we would have won them by 1 goal. And that's if we won them, we would have been expected to, but if Jose was winning all the games he was expected to win he'd still be in charge.

Watching this Man United team play now, I can't help but thinking of the Ozzy song "Flying High Again". I still don't know a lot about the tactics of football but they certainly don't look like the slow plodding team under the previous manager. I think Nathan Ake` will be having nightmares about Rashford turning him inside out for long time to come.

Here's the games over the New Year period guys.

Tuesday
Everton v Leicester (12.30 Sky)
Arsenal v Fulham (3pm)
Cardiff v Spurs (5.30 Sky)

Wednesday Night
Bournemouth v Watford
Chelsea v Southampton
Huddersfield v Burnley
Newcastle v Man United (8pm Sky)
West Ham v Brighton
Wolves v Crystal Palace

Thursday Night
Man City v Liverpool (8pm Sky)

The games on Wednesday night are 7.45pm kick-offs apart from the TV game.

Unai Emery have been fined 8k after admitting the misconduct charge for the bottle kick during the Brighton game.

@Dave A Couldn't have put it any better if I tried!

West Ham have signed Samir Nasri on a contract till the end of the season, Nasri's 18 month doping ban ends tomorrow.

Leicester beat Everton 0-1 with Vardy getting the first PL game of 2019, Arsenal beat Fulham 4-1 and Spurs are already 0-2 up v Cardiff after 15 minutes!

Chelsea have signed Christian Pulisic from Dortmund for €64m. He will remain at Dortmund on loan until the end of the season.

Full times.

Bournemouth 3-3 Watford
Huddersfield 1-2 Burnley
Wolves 0-2 Crystal Palace
Chelsea 0-0 Southampton
West Ham 2-2 Brighton
Newcastle 0-2 Man United

Bournemouth v Watford was a bit mad, first off the game was delayed because of a fire alarm, then the first half had six goals with Watford throwing away a 0-2 lead, and then there was no goals in the second half!

Disappointing night for Chelsea, Lukaku came off the bench to score with his first touch for United and Rashford got the second with an assist from Sanchez, who also came off the bench.

Both teams had a player sent off in that one, Huddersfield just don't have the quality, their two strikers have only scored five goals between them in twenty matches, nowhere near good enough.

Chelsea have signed Christian Pulisic from Dortmund for €64m. He will remain at Dortmund on loan until the end of the season.

I would've never expected him to be worth that much. The €30-40m range was what I was expecting, especially since his contract is expiring this summer.

And they aren't paying 64m for a Bundesliga player at the top of his game...they're paying 64m purely based on potential. He's even struggling to crack Dortmund's starting XI at the moment...ever since his injury, Sancho has taken his role on the right wing and has excelled, Dortmund have way too much quality to try him centrally, and he's not as strong on the left as he is on the right, but he hasn't been able to beat out a much lesser skilled Jacob Bruun Larsen and a Rapha Guerreiro that has seen very little play time in the past two years there.

German teams always seem to know how to get the most money for their players whilst paying pennies for them.

I think they paid a lot now to gazump Liverpool who were also interested in him. Once Chelsea offered silly money Liverpool backed off.

Good results for United last night, Lindelof was superb and man of the match IMO. Only 6 points off 4th place now, can we dare to dream yet?

Man City 2-1 Liverpool, Aguero and Sane for Man City with Firmino get Liverpool's goal, Liverpool's lead at the top now cut to four points, great game of Football, really end-to-end, attacking, high intensity play from both teams.

I caught most of the 2nd half yesterday and it was a really good match. The intensity was through the roof.

Bournemouth have signed Dominic Solanke from Liverpool for ÂŁ19 million raising to ÂŁ25 million, the striker had only made 27 appearances for Liverpool mostly as a sub and only scored one goal. Bournemouth also signing Liverpool right back Nathaniel Clyne on loan for rest of season.

FA Cup third round is this weekend, Famine has another thread for it.

Real Madrid is such a joke. The difference between RM + Ronaldo and RM - Ronaldo is so obvious, it gets to be funny. They just lost against Real Sociedad 0-2, in Madrid. The last time R.Sociedad won in Madrid was 15 years ago. This was also the first victory away for them.

Ronaldo would have somewhere around 20 goals by now in R. Madrid. They have 26 in total...

On the other hand, Man. City and Liverpool are a joy to watch!

Gary Rowett joins the @Liquid list: https://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/football/46794337

Given that Stoke are still two places and three points ahead of us after we sacked our manager and went on a four (league) game unbeaten run, it further calls into question why Luhukay was allowed to carry on for so long.

Weirder news... 75-year old Michael Carson has died this morning in a "single vehicle accident" (the car he was in crashed into stuff other than cars). He was awaiting trial for sexual abuse of minors from his time as a coach and scout at Norwich, Cambridge and Peterborough dating back to 1978.

Lists will finally be updated later on today.

Well, old duffers are known for their predilection for vehicular misdemeanours but that is awfully, uh... coincidental.

Incidentally ex-Celtic youth coach Gerald King, who was convicted of sexually abusing five minors in his capacity as a school teacher as well as taking indecent photographs of minors, has been spared gaol. Instead he's been given a three-year probation order as well as 240 hours of community service. It seems like quite a slap on the wrist given that his contemporaries at Celtic Boys, Jim Torbett and Frank Cairney, were also found guilty of sexually abusing minors. Torbett was given 6 years and Cairney is still awaiting his sentencing.

Bayern have made a fourth bid for Chelsea's Hudson-Odoi believed to be in the region of ÂŁ35 million, he wants the move now as well, Bayern seem desperate to sign him.

Tammy Abraham turns down loan move to Wolves and will stay at Villa.

Fabregas has agreed a three-year deal at Monaco, he will join in the Summer but if Chelsea can sign a replacement in this window then he will join them this month. Chelsea have made bids for Cagliari's Nicolo Barella and Zenit's Leandro Paredes.

Tottenham have accepted a ÂŁ9 million bid for Dembele from Beijing Guoan.

Not even a new record for Pep, just equals an exisiting one. I feel sorry for those Burton fans who got stuck on M6 afer the poilice closed it and then arrived late only to see thier team get thrashed that badly. At least they still out numbered the home support :D.

To be fair thier are 50 teams between City and Burton in the tables and City did put out a very strong team all things considered. I'd have thought they would have started Foden at least.
