Does football need video referees?

  • Yes - VAR is a success

  • Yes - The principle is needed but VAR has been badly handled

  • No - VAR was horrible and should not be continued

  • No - Mistakes are part of football

  • Undecided

From what I have read, the plane went missing over Alderney at 20:30 GMT, having requested an emergecy descent or emergency landing (unclear) when making contact with Guernsey ATC. The plane's last known position was at 2,000ft.

It really doesn't look good.

What I want to know is why is a Footballer taking a small plane like this anyway, it just seems incredibly odd.

I know what you mean but in the case of some private charter flights it might be too uneconomical to use a jet, even a small one, for a flight that short and for so few people.

Another master stroke by the Spanish justice system.

Minimum sentence required in order to have to serve it: 24 months

Mascherano's sentence: 12 months
Falcao's sentence: 16 months
Messi's sentence: 21 months
Ronaldo's sentence: 23 months

You're either after tax evaders or you're not. Much like with Bernie Ecclestone, these settlements really do come off as bribes rather than fines.

Guernsey Police have said that they've suspended the search for today and will resume at Sunrise tomorrow, they did see some objects in the sea but couldn't tell for sure if it was the plane, desperately sad story and myself and I'm sure everyone will be praying for good news.

Spurs problems continue with Dele Alli out for six weeks with Hamstring injury, they really are down to the bare bones now..

They are coming to a financial agreement with the players at the same time, if the players refused to pay they would more than likely get the 24 month minium or longer.

It's a strange system to have sentences given that you don't have to serve, I suppose it's a bit like getting a suspended sentence here, but it automatically applies to anything under 24 months, still strange to me but hey ho.

Why does this Tax Fruad stuff only happen in Spain, you never really hear it outside of Spain at least when it comes to Footballers.

Welcome De Jong

If true, Ajax just sold their best player, and probably threw away a chance for a proper result in any tournament.

And with that,

The winter transfer window needs to go. It ruins competitions.

Spain particularly is trying to close a certain loophole it created back around the turn of the millennium. I can't recall exactly what the details are but it relates to money gained from image rights not being declared as part of your income; obviously this was of great interest to a lot of athletes but footballers in particular.

They're closing the loophole because well, obviously it's a great source of revenue. And Spain's economy is, uh... Liga Segunda.

It was always going to end this way. There's a big chance Frenkie won't be the only Dutch player joining Barca as they have now directed their interest in De Ligt. Meanwhile, PSG have now moved on to Everton midfielder Gana Gueye and are so close to finalizing a deal.

The dominoes have begun to fall as Milan are set to sign Krzysztof Piatek from Genoa for €35m. This will allow Gonzalo Higuain to rejoin Sarri at Chelsea from Milan and Alvaro Morata to join Atletico Madrid from Chelsea. Higuain's loan from Juventus will be transfered to Chelsea for 6 months and €9m with the option to buy for €36m or option to extend the loan by a further 12 months.

Higuain couldn't get out of Milan fast enough. Hopefully, Piatek can deliver for the rossoneri like he did at Genoa.

Paella prick ☠️☠️☠️

Higuaín to Chelsea is finally done.

Man City just scraped through to the EFL cup final after beating Burton Albion 10-0 on aggregate.

No real news on Emiliano Sala today sadly, Channel Island Air Search earlier today said that its now a recovery mission rather than a rescue one, his agent has confirmed that he did book the flight but the plane used had nothing to do with him, Cardiff have said that they did offer to arrange Sala's travel last weekend but Sala declined.

Neymar might have something real to cry about this time.

The injury on his foot that almost cost the WC last year has returned, he left the field crying last night.

I say good. You get what you wish for, you miserable failed actor.

he left the field crying last night.

The Strasbourg players said that "He can't come off the pitch blubbering now" after his injury, clearly a reference to all the play acting he's done in the past, looking like he was dying from the most innocuous touch or even no touch at all.

I can't say I feel too much sympathy for him myself. He's one on the worst, worst, worst divers in football. The boy who cried wolf has become the Neymar who cried foul.

Seeing how the "item" wasn't delivered, I would think that they return the money back to Cardiff.
It was. He was in Cardiff and signed the contract, before returning to Nantes before the weekend. He was flying back on Monday to his first training session on Tuesday. He hasn't kicked a ball for Cardiff yet, but he's a registered Cardiff City player...

... so I'm guessing an insurance claim?

Has anything like this happened before in the post Bosman era?

Given the kind of money involved in transfer fees these days there would have to be insurance you would think, maybe there has been a case of a career ending injury in between signing and joining the team but that's what medicals are for.

Guernsey Police have ended the search for Sala and the British pilot David Ibbotson.

Don't know what happens now...

Chelsea have just beaten Spurs 4-2 on penalties to play Man City in the EFL cup final, it was 2-1 in the second leg and 2-2 on aggregate, England's World Cup penalty hero Eric Dier skied his penalty.

Tottenham aren't doing well with this whole trophies thing are they?!

No Premier League Football this weekend as its the fourth round of the FA Cup, so check out the other thread for that, Arsenal v Man United tonight.

Premier League Football returns mid week next week.

South Korea have been knocked out of the Asia games in the quarter finals by Qatar, so Son will be back early for Tottenham.

Barcelona, popular club in a great competition, with a decent history that will make you rich, or PSG. French club that will make you rich.

Difficult choice indeed.
