2018 Grand Prix de MonacoFormula 1

Red Bull have so much more grip than everyone else. If the Renault upgrade at Canada that is promised gets them closer then Danny could win the championship, or Max if he keeps it clean.

You blinded Charlene Vettel!

General misbehaving on the podium, love it :P In the old days a Monaco podium was a pretty serious affair.

That race recap was so annoying. We didn't even get to see the podium questions or the shoey live, they just had the shoey as part of the recap and moved on WTF

What do you mean? All season the podium questions come before the actual podium, and we did see everything unfold after the national anthems...

ESPN does it different from Sky, I think they cut straight to the recap before the shoey.

So stupid. Everyone knows what's coming when Danny wins a race!

Sky played the whole thing.

Princess Charlene's face when people started yelling shoey and Danny took a seat... priceless.

Vettel being a bit premature there...:P

Overall a good Monaco GP, which is admittedly a bit of a low bar, but fun to watch none-the-less.

Biggest winner was by far Danny. After a disastrous 2016 the win today must feel extra special. Doubly so because the man drove ~50 laps down on power. Definitely my driver of the day.

Biggest losers were Leclerc, Alonso, and by far Williams. Williams were absolutely nowhere with a combination of penalties, punctures, and just an absolutely ridiculous lack of place. Never thought I'd see the day where the Saubers were significantly faster, especially since just a few years prior they were on the up-and-up consistently challenging the Top 3 teams. Alonso with more Hond- err, Renault PU woes, and Leclercs unfortunate brake explosion. Not the way I would want my debut race in my hometown to go.

Also, props to Max for coming from last to finish 9th, and to Gasly & Ocon for their respectable finishes.

I saw DC talk to them on the ground and thought that was odd but also not the official podium interviews.

Disappointed Ferrari did not win but as an Australian still happy to see Riccardo winning a race and doing well.

As far as I've seen and know from others, they run what Sky does, because they're using the Sky feed.

Again they haven't been giving podium interviews this season, the podium interview comes before they get on the podium.

Perez lost 4 or 5 positions without any explanation soon after Ocon pit stop. Not much happens during that race, but they (official Feed) still miss stuff...

Correct me if I'm wrong but I don't recall any on-track passes not involving Verstappen, and for most of the race the fastest cars on track were in the midfield.

Monaco has not aged well.

Take this very same circuit. Dump it in a field, and I struggle to see it making the cut. No run offs, not great for racing either etc. This is a pov shared by many in and around F1 too.
It's actually the quite opposite. Confirmed by the Drivers and the Paddock. We also know that the F1 management want more City Circuit Grand Prix's, like Miami, Copenhagen, and few others as well. So I assume it's more from a personal point of view, which is alright, but not legit.

They didn't miss it, he had a bad pit stop and lost tons of time. It was a rear tire change issue.

Lewis passed Esteban, Hartley passed Fernando, Bottas made a pass as well can't remember who. I mean even if there were more, you could still make the argument either way. However, I would say those mid field cars being faster and not passing didn't mean anything compared to the front. The front 4 drivers, had one person managing an engine issue on six gear out of eight. The three behind him were managing tire wear issues all race and would lose and then gain grip during the life cycle. The top five even if not the fastest still has a sizable gap to that of the rest of the field.

If anything Monaco shows some of the worst parts of F1, a slower parade like track, and how different in performance the cars are to one another over a stint.

Welcome to years and years ago.

A great drive by both Red Bulls today.

That's pretty much all there is to say about today. Oh, except when Schumacher's drive in Spain with only 5th gear was mentioned... that wasn't in 1995 that was in 1996. That's how low into the barrel we're scraping.

Didn't Perez get problems during his pit stop? The right rear tire wouldn't come off?

I saw the pitstop but since my cable was down (until the end of the race :banghead:), i watched the race with 3 not-synchronized feeds from my phone connexion and i probably mixed time informations with unrelated video feed. Or my brain is dysfunctional. My bad.

A pretty exciting race and a fantastic drive from Riccy!

I think that was the most exciting dry non-SC Monaco GP I’ve ever seen! Some great driving all-round. Gutted for Charles, he was due a decent finish... and Williams... Williams...

Damon Hill won that. 1996 was the wet race and Schumacher's first win for Ferrari.
Schumacher in 1994 did the whole race in 5th gear and finished 2nd, and that's Christian's point. Daniel managed to win with a hobbled car, therefore surpassing Schumi's achievement.
