Plate racing has been a joke the last few years, really needs an overhaul. It’s always been silly and more luck than skill but the adding blocking into the mix just makes it even more stupid. It’s just survival now. Blocking isn’t racing, in any form of motorsports, or in video games.

Notable finishers:

AJ Allmemdinger finished 3rd.
Chris Buescher finished 5th.
Ty Dillon finished 6th.
Matt DiBenedetto finished 7th.
Jefferey Earnhardt finished 11th.
D.J. Kennington finished 13th.
Ray Black Jr. finished 16th.

I guess I am in the minority, but I loved this race and seeing all of the different names on the leaderboard. Like Matt D said in his interview, these races even out the playing field. Hats off to Erik Jones on the win. He has earned it. Loved the tweet Kyle Busch sent after the race

That’s how plate racing has always been. It’s the fact 90% of the field gets wrecked now and the blocking I have a problem with, since those are more recent problems. Until recently there was usually only one “big one” per race

I enjoy the plate races. As stated above it gives a chance to see the smaller teams run up front. Big wrecks are just a product of this type of racing.
^This. That's why I've been saying for years that the plate racing has been one of the best features of the new seasons, not a drawback. Stage racing not included though, that still sucks

I usually like plate racing, it’s usally quite intense watching how on edge the cars are. Saturday nights race though was crap. The early big one took out half the field, and it just felt they couldn’t go more than 10 laps without an accident.

The more I watched testing, the more I'm liking the layout. It's not perfect, but it's a decent track that's probably fun to drive. The big question will be what happens with a full field, because I'm not sure how well the track will race. I hope it works out come October.

It won't work out in October.

Two incidents that I know of during testing. Ryan Blaney lost the back end in he infield section and hit the wall, and William Byron locked up into one and hit the tire barriers.

Edit: found a Bowman wreck.

Just in case anyone forgot, the NASCAR Camping World Truck Series Dirt Derby is on right now on FS1. Qualifying races just needed and up next is the LCQ and the Main.

Beast of a finish at the Eldora Dirt Derby. Congrats to Chase Briscoe (hope he goes far in IMSA) and what on earth was going on with those 4 trucks crashing after the line?

Best finish of the year for sure. Definitely the best Eldora race so far as well. Not a huge fan of dirt track racing overall but it worked tonight, other than the usual long stretch of yellows at the end.

I’m just going to come out and say it. Pavement cars on a dirt track isn’t a great show. I don’t think a Cup or Xfinity race is needed on dirt. I keep watching this race as literally the only truck race I even entertain but it’s just whatever.

Ugh...
