I can see it working on a lower-slung late model, but the NASCAR cars are too slab sided. They did a great job with the C pillar making the roof look less upright than it actually is though.

I didn't think this was serious. The front works a little better than I thought it might, but there's not getting around the fact it's a Camry mid - section and rear end.

They have to. Xfinity bodies are spec composite. They are literally all the same with different noses and hoods.

So basically in NASCAR now, you can build a tube chassis with a V8 and a 4 speed transmission, throw some some stickers on it, and call it whatever you want  Supra...lmao

I really fail to see what's the issue with this.

The Camry wasn't very Camry, and both the Ford and Chevrolet haven't been very Ford and Chevrolet looking since forever.

Not a fan of the new Supra. The biggest thing that bugs me is that ugly nose bump. It's not attractive to me, at all. It looks really dumb and even more so on the nascar version.

Wasn’t it great to see a Supra win Le Mans?

Are you excited to see Max drive his DB9 at Silverstone this weekend?

My favourite Indycar right now is the Honda Civic, but the Chevy Cruze is ok too.

I hope the NSXs in BTCC do well this year.

What’s the point of names and labels if they don’t mean anything?

I agree to a certain point with you, but as I said, they haven't been resembling them in forever.

I would love to see them using actual road going parts again. And not just in Nascar.

I don’t disagree, but would argue that just because NASCAR has been doing funky things for a while now, it doesn’t justify the this elevated level of funk.

Copied from the launch/news thread: "That's not a Supra! That's 5/8ths of a Camry with part of the hood and part of the front fenders from a videogame rendering of a Supra. I'm not sure whom to be more mad at, NASCAR for having dreadfully outdated aerodynamic/appearance standards, or Toyota for A; Picking the LEAST appropriate car for the job or B: Trying so hard to appeal to the "Buy American/'ewwww furrrin' cars!" crowd that they lost sight of what sells to whom."

Hasn't that been the case since at least the late 80's?

The Supra really isn't any more out there than some of the other selections manufacturers have made, it's just on the other end of the spectrum.

Those are all cars that have been used in NASCAR, yet none really scream "fire breathing V8 monster" either.

Toyota used the Celica in a lower tier series as well. Went against Cavaliers and Sunfires, but I can't remember which series it was.

Is it wrong that half of what I got from there was "Wait, there were Cavaliers and Sunfires doing something besides drag racing or falling the 🤬 apart? What sorcery is this?"
Yes, the Celica did run, but the proportions were better, and less visually offensive.

That was the Goody's Dash series. Supposedly a 200ZX ran at one point but I can't find any good photos of it.

Not sure who all saw the Busc...err...Nationwi....I mean Xfinity race tonight. I happened to catch the end. All I've got to say is Haley got screwed.
I agree.

Someone last night was driving a ten year old Ray Evernham built car.

Hey there’s a lot more Cavaliers and Sunfires on the roads still than Celicas. The Goody’s Dash series cars were also 4 cylinder, so it made a bit more sense. When the series started compact cars were still RWD so they could still use the stock bodies like Pintos and Monzas. the last two are the Sunfire and Celica from near the end of the series.

Remember the Xfinity series was 6 cylinder powered until the late 80’s/early 90’s, in that case the Supra would be more appropriate.

Hey, to be fair there were fire breathing (at the time) V8 versions of the Taurus and Impala, they were just torque-steering disasters. In my opinion the Avenger was the worst NASCAR car of all time, in terms of how the street and race cars compared visually and attitude-wise.
