I agree with most of your post, but the Group C cars fit the pattern completely - they are 4 Le Mans winning cars (albeit the wrong year for the Porsche) and the R92CP, which won the Japanese sports car championship and is a strong nostalgia car for GT.
Well again, we have the gt40 and the p4, but technically the wrong gt40. I agree with you, I always thought why aren’t a lot of these cars classed together? They must be choosing the cars based on some significance rather than trying to make a well rounded class.
 
I noticed car steering itself at some points on track mainly hitting horizons or holes at nurburgring.
I noticed this too last night. Built a super touring replica and it went straight into the barrier at Brands Hatch...
PD are saving time and money by just having us do the work with adding parts and creating liveries.
But then the car still have a stock interior. Not a big deal if you use exterior views, but for cockpit users it's not ideal.

Speaking of which, maybe they'll update the Gr.4 GR Supra with a proper racing cockpit, not unlike how they recently added a formal cockpit to the AMG VGT. Otherwise, I do wonder if it'd be necessary for PD to add the formal racing versions of various road cars we've seen dressed up as their racing versions, like the Ferrari F40 for the JGTC events. Personally, I'd at least like to see the racing version of the Mercedes-Benz 190 E Evo II, if only because it could end up being the sole Gr.4 car for Mercedes-Benz rather than being an alternative to the SLS-AMG Gr.4.

I'd be down for a "Gr.1V" and a "Gr.3V" for classic prototypes and classic GT racers, respectively. Similarly, we definitely need a Ford GT Mk. II racecar.

I have a suspicion that we haven't seen any FIA GT1 special events yet because PD are waiting until they add something to "complete the set."

That's what happened when they added the NSX JGTC. Almost immediately after that, the first JGTC special event showed up.

I think the most likely GT1 category addition is indeed the racing version of the Porsche 911 GT1 we already have in the game.
The other car that comes to mind is the Nissan R390 GT1. Even though the racing version has been in the franchise before, I think it's less likely than the Porsche.
The Panoz Esperante GTR-1 would be a long-shot. Even an Audi R8C probably has a higher chance than a Panoz return.

The "complete the set" special events theory could also mean we're not going to get any new Group C, JGTC or classic DTM cars, at least for the foreseeable future. Some notable cars that would include are:
Audi V8 Quattro (DTM)
Toyota 88C-V or TS010 (Group C)
Peugeot 905 (Group C)

All of this is hypothetical of course.
With R390 GT1 Race Car and 1998 911 GT1 Race Car I could die a happy man 🙏
 
I gave MFGT a little spin but did not receive any cars in my garage in GT7. Haven’t completed the demo yet, just won a few cars from a few license tests. Are there any special criteria that needs to be fulfilled or am I missing something?

This is what I thought too when the game first released and we'd sometimes get a car with no relevant events and I'd wonder if they were waiting to complete a set before adding content. And it sort of makes sense as now we see cool events for Group C, DTM and JGTC and yet still no GT1 (I hope for R390) or 50s Le Mans events despite having a good selection of them (I'd suspect the Cunningham C4R). I disagree with an Audi R8C being more likely than a Panoz though seeing as the Panoz is on par with the F1 Longtail or CLK LM as a historic Gran Turismo inclusion.

If they want to continue down this route of mixing road and race cars like in DTM and JGTC they'd be best to bring back a sort of race modification function to give these cars that magic extra something that race cars have that you can't tune into a road car. I don't see that feature coming to GT7 though, more likely a GT8 thing.

I agree with the bolded statement about the Audi R8C, as cool of a car as I personally find it to be it isn't really noteworthy enough to take precedent over the Panoz, R390 or GT1-98. I personally believe the GT1-98 will be the next GT1 car to show up followed by the R390 at some point. The Panoz is similar to the GT-ONE as far as being a GT staple but isn't as accessible as the R390 and GT1-98 are and PD don't really have a relationship with Panoz like they do Porsche and Nissan. The Audi R8C has a 10-0% chance of showing up I think due to it not having any history with the series nor doing anything noteworthy besides just looking cool, in which case i'd argue even the Elise GT1 would show up before the R8C would despite having disappointing performance as a racing car.

I don't think the Audi R8C has much of a chance either. I was more highlighting how unlikely the Panoz would be, due to obtaining a license from a dormant manufacturer.

This is the part I personally disagree with (well, the R8 LMP900, I agree the R8C won't be coming, that's my fault for not being specific).

My personal conclusion is that "historical GT series inclusion" for race cars doesn't seem to mean much to modern PD without "real life success or notoriety" also being there. So I'm really not expecting things like the Panoz, the Toyota 88C-V, the Option Stream Z, or the Gillet Vertigo, where the car's GT nostalgia credentials are the biggest thing on its resume and it didn't really do much in real life, to show up again. Whereas things like the Audi R8 LMP900, the Peugeot 905 and the Bentley Speed 8 won Le Mans, and them having series nostalgia is a nice bonus but not the only point, so they seem more likely to me.

But hey, this is PD, they could do whatever they want, it's half the fun!
