I don't flat out say that it's rigged, because I don't wanna be that guy, but lets face it.

It was going to be either the #24 or the #88 today.

I can see your logic behind that, but Bowman won a pole when he subbed for Dale Jr and led many laps that race. So I believe he has credibility as a driver. Byron in the #24 also has credentials in a car, but seeing that the #24 has been reduced to a field filler the past two seasons I can understand NASCAR wanting the car on pole

So I’m guessing we won’t get to hear Brad make an idiot of himself this week by complaining about Toyota?

Blame NASCAR for plates. Or was there not enough accidents for a non points exhibition?

Personally I don’t think there is much incentive for them to really push it at these exhibition races. I can’t recall the last time the Clash(or whatever it’s been called in the past) or the All Star race have actually been interesting.

The main purpose of the Clash nowadays is to knock the rust off drivers who haven’t been in a Cup car for a few months. About Brad, Ford has the least amount of downforce built into the nose so it’s no surprise a Ford won another plate race. They’ll be sitting ducks the rest of the season since Chevy has a new nose so the only one to blame is Ford.

And that's what I'vd been saying for the last two years, at least. Everyone ripon Toyota because "they're in NASCAR's back pocket." No, they've dominated these last few years because they keep updating the car every two years so they can keep finding an advantage with it. Chevy's haven't looked all that good since 2014; they show up with the new Camaro, and suprise! They're running pretty well at Daytona.

Meanwhile, Ford is still running a 2013 Fusion six years later. Only now have I just see a post on Twitter about Rodger Penske claiming that a new body for the Fords will be coming in 2019.

...which will most likely be a lightly refreshed Fusion whose changes are barely noticable in NASCAR-spec, aside from the shape of the headlight decals. Given that Ford's presence has dwindled to Penske, SHR, Roush and a couple of total non-entities, and their interest only seems to extend to the front half of that list anymore, I don't really see any kind of a world-beater coming next year.

I can't see the new Ford completly sucking with Penske. After all, Penske will Penske and will always Penske when they get the chance to. But if Penske sucks in 2019, it'll be pretty obvious that Ford dropped the ball with the new car.

Ford has cancelled the Fusion’s refresh and the model is possibly going away. So if there is a new car next year it will likely be a new model (so Mustang).

Whether you love or loathe today's NASCAR, I will try to follow NASCAR as much as I can. No matter who your favorite drivers are, your favorite teams are, or whatever races you are looking forward to; I wish everyone across all levels of NASCAR the best of luck for the 2018 season. Make 2018 a great season of action.

Now go burn rubber already!

Sooo...I went to look at Jayski, and saw something. Apparently, higher ups in NASCAR, ISC, and SMI are talking about the possibility of selling NASCAR? Possibly to Comcast?

Unless NASCAR changed the rules regarding it (probably, who knows with them anymore), a discontinued model is still eligible for use for one year after it's officially given the axe. Though the last time I remember this being put into play was when Dodge switched over to the Charger and there were backmarker teams still running Intrepid bodies - year old leftovers bought from bigger teams who could afford to switch to the new sheetmetal immediately, of course.

If that is still a thing though, Ford may use it to put off introducing a new car until 2020. Wouldn't surprise me if it happened.

Well, that grind from mid-February to mid-November begins tonight with the Trucks. Time to determine the champions of NASCAR this season starting with these first races of the season.

Again- good luck to all drivers and teams this 2018 season. Put on a great show, race hard, and have fun.

I’m usually not huge on all the extra NASCAR shows Fox does. But the Betond the Wheel one that’s on now is actually rather good.

First was a piece on NASCAR’s trip to Japan in the 90’s. Now it’s Aric Almirola returning to Cuba. And the last piece seems to be about Petty leaving to do Drag Racing.

Hopefully this becomes a regular thing if it’s not already.

Edit: Apparently it is and this is a rerun from last August. Still a good watch.

Nemechek trying to blame Rhodes for the accident was pure comedy. He tried blocking with 30 laps to go, got a tire rub and was too stupid to come to pit road. And unfortunately for some others, when he finally wrecked took others out with him. Apple doesn't fall far from the tree. You can't fix stupid.

May have just found s new favorite commercial.

Edit: I can't seem to embed the tweet without the tweet to which it was a reply to. Just ignore the first part.

I almost forgot the Trucks race was last night! So I ended up checking in when there were about 41 laps left of the Trucks race at Daytona. Cool event.

Today begins the championship for the XFINITY Series. Or as some call it, the "B" cars of NASCAR's top three Touring Series. So we'll see some young lions and seasoned veterans take on the high banks and great speeds of Daytona. The fun begins at around 2:30 PM Eastern time.
