Make it a percentage of club value then or make the fine the amount of money spent in the windows over the span of non-conformance.

Linfield FC a Semi Professional Team from North Ireland has made it to the Europa League Play off round, pretty remarkable.

Quite a few Championship sides went out in the first round tonight.

Completely unacceptable by Celtic, Lennon's job isn't looking secure.
Should he lose at Ibrox on September 1 (which is a huge possibility), I think he will have totally lost the fans.

I’m absolutely fuming about last night because Cluj were incredibly average all things considered - we were appalling and watching back the highlights is worth it for the comedy alone. A Champions League frontline let down by complete ineptitude everywhere else on the pitch. No way we’ll hold on to our talent if this keeps up.

Celtic knee deep in Cluj and not in the way you'd have hoped.

Rehiring Lennon was a big mistake, and his card is now well and truly marked.

Saying that, I reckon it would be a bit unfair to dismiss him until such a time as Celtic are struggling in the league, or at least until they are trailing Rangers. But, fair or not, Celtic would almost certainly be better off ditching him quickly before the rot sets in.

FYI, for those unfamiliar with the local dialect here in Glasgow, 'cludgie' means toilet... seems quite fitting.

I'd be happier for the club if their fans weren't so horrible.

Given what’s at stake domestically, I don’t think the rot would get the chance to set in. There would be massive revolt if we waited until we were trailing in the league to a respectable degree.

The draw for the Tunnock's Caramel Wafer Challenge Cup has been made. Of note:

Connah's Quay vs Cove Rangers
Wrexham vs Ayr United

Two interesting ties. First time in my tenure as a football fan that there's a real chance Nomads could play Wrexham at some point...

Liverpool 1-1 Chelsea in the Super Cup, Giroud in the first half but Mane just got the equaliser at the start of the second half, Firmino making an instant impact from the bench, female ref in this game as well.

Liverpool have won the Super Cup beating Chelsea 5-4 on penalties after 1-1 in normal time and then another 1-1 in extra time, All penalties were scored apart from Abrahams which was saved by Adrian, Mane with two goals and Giroud and a Jorginho penalty with the goals.

Great game of football. 👍

Just seen the highlights. Chelsea's penalty was one of the weakest penalty fouls I have ever seen. Adrian's gloves brushed the knee of Abraham as he was kicking the ball out of play. I thought VAR was supposed to look at something like that and rule it out.

Another fixture abandoned by Bury. This cannot be allowed to continue; it is disruptive not just to them but the teams they are supposed to play who spend money preparing for a game that won't happen.

Yes and quite why you are even allowed to be promoted, when you've gambled with the club the way they have, is another issue that needs looking at in the future.

First dismissal and it's only mid-August. Strang one in a way because Macclesfield have W1 L1 so far this season but they are under considerable financial pressure; I think the earliest rumour is that he has not been paid.

15th August - Sol Campbell (Macclesfield Town, resigned) League Two

Resigned - 1

Total - 1

Tammy Abraham was subject of racial abuse following his penalty miss against Liverpool last night, Kick It out has called the abuse 'disgusting' and 'increasingly predictable', Twitter have since said they will talk to Kick It Out about racist abuse for the first time.

Wolves have just beaten Armenian outfit FC Pyunik 4-0 on the night and 8-0 on aggregate in their Europa League qualifier, Rangers beat Midtjylland 3-1 and 7-3 on aggregate (yes I did have to look that name up!) Aberdeen and unfortunately TNS are both out, it was the third round of qualifiers so I think there is only one more round left until the group stage

Games this weekend.

Saturday
Arsenal v Burnley (12.30 BT)
Aston Villa v Bournemouth
Brighton v West Ham
Everton v Watford
Man City v Tottenham (5.30 Sky)
Norwich v Newcastle
Southampton v Liverpool

Sunday
Chelsea v Leicester (4.30 Sky)
Sheffield United v Crystal Palace (2pm Sky)

Monday night

Some very interesting games there.

@andrea That advert for me is the worst football-related advert ever...

But how does that 'confirm' that he is a rapist?!

Give the basques their independence so I don’t have to watch 84 year old Aduriz rinse my team. #ValverdeOut

Todays results.

Arsenal 2-1 Burnley
Brighton 1-1 West Ham
Everton 1-0 Watford
Norwich 3-1 Newcastle
Southampton 1-2 Liverpool
Aston Villa 1-2 Bournemouth
Man City 2-2 Spurs

I've been in work pretty much all day so I haven't seen any of the action, but there was a controversial VAR decision at the very end of the City-Spurs game in which Gabriel Jesus winner was ruled out after it was deemed that the ball hit a City players arm in the build up, heard it was a cracking game in which City dominated.

A Pukki hat-trick got Norwich a big win and I think he top scorer now with 4, and he was a free for Norwich too!
