controversial VAR decision
Not really controversial. It hits a Man City player's arm in the run up to a goal, and the rules for this season are that if it hits a players arm it's handball, deliberate or not, so the goal has to be ruled out for a Man City foul.

Ashley Cole is a guest on the Sky football coverage today and he announced his retirement live on air, arguably the best left-back England have ever had.

Sheffield United 1-0 Crystal Palace, goal came from John Lundstram just after half time, United were terrific and Palace were terrible, great start to the PL season for United.

Chelsea v Leicester up next.

RECENTLY WRAPPED UP...

Sheffield United FC picked up a sweet 1-0 win at home over Crystal Palace FC in Sheffield's return to the top class of Premier League football. So, that's good for the Sheffield boys.

[UPDATE] Tree'd.

Fantastic start by Chelsea, putting the pressure on early and going ahead, Mason Mount getting his first Chelsea goal.

Chelsea 1 - 1 Leicester, Mount has got off the mark for Chelsea, he looks like he could be a decent player. Ndidi scored Leicesters equaliser on the 67th minute.

16th August - Jan Siewert (Huddersfield Town, sacked) Championship

Resignations- 1
Sackings - 1

Total: 2

I'm a bit nervous about Wolves v United tonight, Wolves had a great record against the top six last season and beat United twice, once in the league and knocking us out of the FA Cup.

Wolves are probably a bit tired with their Europa League exploits so I wouldn't be surprised if United win.

Inter seem close to re-uniting Alexis Sanchez with Lukaku in Italy. Rumor is that they will split the salary with Man U for a season long loan. Inter will then have an option to buy Sanchez for €15m next summer.

Philippe Coutinho has joined Bayern Munich on loan from Barcelona with an option to buy for 109 million Euros.

Man U 1-1 Wolves. Martial first, then a sensational strike by Neves to equal the score and Patricio saved a Pogba penalty.

Wolves 1-1 Man United.

Positive United performance in the first half which lead to Martial's goal after some nice build up play and a nice pass from Rashford, a 10 minute spell of Wolves dominance after half time led to their goal which was another outside-the-box screamer from Ruben Neves. United could have retaken the lead after Pogba won a penalty which he then took but it wasn't a great one and was saved by Patricio.

Rashford scored a penalty against Chelsea last week and should definitely have taken it tonight.

I saw most of the game from the 71st minute on between Wolverhampton vs. Manchester United. There was a handball that was called, but I don't think it was a handball call against Man-U. Man-U still got booked for it with the yellow card. While I don't have a favorite Premier League team, I do tend to follow Manchester United a lot.

I caught the 2nd half yesterday afternoon. Beautiful set-piece by Wolves and a sublime strike from Neves while under pressure. United need to work on defending those corners after that and Jimenez hitting the post. Man U were also a little unlucky in the final 3rd with some poor touches from Lingard and Martial. Maguire seemed a bit shaky but Wan-Bissaka is a beast. 👍

I think all the talk over the penalty is nonsense. Rui guessed right and saved it but if the penalty had gone in we would be talking about a deserved United win instead. It's not like Pogba hit it wide or over the bar.

Paul Pogba was subject to racist abuse after the penalty miss last night, Man United have released a statement condemning it and rightly so and Pogba's teammates have posted tweets in support of him today.

It is not known at this time whether the abuse come from United fans or not but United have launched their own investigation, it was only a few days ago the Tammy Abraham was also abused after his penalty miss in the Super Cup.

It is disgusting and has no place in Football.

I read today that all Man United players have a stipulation built into their contracts that states they will be paid 25% less salary if they don't qualify for the Champions League. Is that true?

It was in an article about Inter loaning in Alexis Sanchez. His salary this season will be at a 25% discount to the Italian club because Man United did not qualify for the Champions League after last season.

Bury's league game this weekend has been cancelled and they have been expelled from the League Cup.

Circling the drain...

So what happens if they get kicks out of the league? How do they fill their spot? Does an extra team get promoted from League Two, does one less get relegated? And how far down the league's does the ripple effect happen of an extra promoted team stop? What about this season? Do all missed games just get ignored or will they find another team?

Bolton's game against Doncaster is off as well, its because of the young players they are having to play as they don't want to over-burden them, which seems fair enough but the way the game was called off was bad from Bolton, they didn't consult the EFL and didn't tell Doncaster directly, Doncaster only found out through Twitter.

It'll be a 44-game season with three relegation spots.

The EFL Cup game postponement annoyed me - we had a couple of players back from injury/suspension we could have done with giving a run-out to and instead they got chucked into an away game at Millwall... which we dutifully lost (not for want of trying - 66% possession, 20 shots, 9 on target) after one of them made a mistake. And we had absolutely no news on the fixture between the postponement and this.

Of course it's not Bury's fault, it's their owner and the EFL.
