Carabao Cup quarter final draw.

Oxford v Man City
Man United v Colchester
Aston Villa v Liverpool
Everton v Leicester

Liverpool came through a spectacular 5-5 draw in normal time and a penalty shoot-out to beat Arsenal. A stunning 35-yard free kick from Marcus Rashford put United through.

Liverpool now have fixture problems in December, they take part in the World Club Cup around the same time as they quarter final, EFL are in discussions with Liverpool about alternative dates, including postponing till January, Liverpool are open to forfeiting the fixture!

Games this weekend.

Saturday
Arsenal v Wolves
Aston Villa v Liverpool
Bournemouth v Man United (12.30 BT)
Brighton v Norwich
Man City v Southampton
Sheffield United v Burnley
Watford v Chelsea (5.30 Sky)
West Ham v Newcastle

Sunday
Crystal Palace v Leicester (2pm Sky)
Everton v Tottenham (4.30 Sky)

Lots of lumps in throats from Liverpool and Manchester City supporters today. MC goes down 0-1 at home after 13'. They only equalized at 70' then scored the go ahead goal at the 86'. Liverpool go down 0-1 at Aston Villa at 21' and finally equalize at the 87' mark on an Andy Robertson header then steal the other two points with a Sadio Mane header at 90'+4' of stoppage time.

Here in the US our main game was the Manchester City vs. Southampton game and you could tell it was only a matter of time before City were going to come back and at least get one. But we get score updates in the upper right part of the screen so I was keeping one eye on the Liverpool game. Manchester City got their second goal before Liverpool got their first so I was plenty angry thinking we were going to drop all three. Then Liverpool equalized right before the City game ended. City game ends and they switch us to the Liverpool game right in time to see the Mane winner. That was a very anxious 15 minutes or so.

Todays Results.

Bournemouth 1-0 Man United :banghead:
Arsenal 1-1 Wolves
West Ham 2-3 Newcastle
Man City 2-1 Southampton
Aston Villa 1-2 Liverpool
Brighton 2-0 Norwich
Sheffield United 3-0 Burnley
Watford 1-2 Chelsea

Another disappointing day for Man United after the very recent good spell of form, there was zero creativity once again and it feels like two steps forward and one step back right now.

As Jezza was mentioning both Liverpool and Man City were behind in their games and both needed very late winners, nice wins for Newcastle and Sheffield United, goals aplenty today.

Horrible broken leg for Gomes. Son sent off but it wasn't a red card just a really unfortunate set of circumstances.

Crystal Palace 0-2 Leicester
Everton 1-1 Tottenham

Everton game was overshadowed by a challenge on Everton's Andre Gomes which resulted in him breaking his leg, the challenge was by Son who was sent off, perhaps unfairly, Sky have yet to show any replays of the challenge which says a lot about how severe it was, Dele Alli got Spurs goal and Cenk Tosun equalised in the 98th minute after 12 minutes were added on. Wishing Gomes the best.

Comfortable win for Leicester who go from strength to strength.

Yeah Gomes landed awkwardly on his ankle a few feet after Son's tackle. Almost like he leaped a little after contact then came down in a bad position. Son was visibly shaken before being sent off as were several players that were nearby.

13 players had a chance going into this game to win the $50,000 NBC Sports Predictor jackpot. There were only two players that had predicted a Everton win, the rest had Tottenham winning in some sort of score. But no one predicted a draw of any kind

Balotelli gets angry and walks off the pitch because once again a bunch of special people feel the need to be racist asswipes.

The result?

Balotelli gets a yellow card.

This is where UEFA needs to step in with their fake anti racism vision. Suspend the referee for being a dumb ****. Penalise Hellas Verona with a deduction of points and several games without a crowd.

The way this is going is getting that fake anti racism vision nowhere at all.

Bayern Munich have sacked Niko Kovac following their 5-1 defeat by Frankfurt on Saturday.

Bayern Munich loses games? Bayern Munich usually wins or dominates. Somebody must be REAL good to spank them 5-1. WOW!

Andre Gomes has had successful surgery on his injury which is a fracture dislocation of his right ankle, he has to stay in hospital for a little while but no one really knows how long for.

Spurs have submitted an appeal for the Son red card. A lot of debate as to whether it was a red or not which I'm on the fence about, it was definitely at least a yellow but a red? I'm not sure I think Atkinson gave a red because of the severity of the injury, Son looked devastated afterwards.

I don't really think it was a red but you're right in that once Atkinson saw it I think he felt he needed to give a red. But it definitely was a yellow card.

The leader of the Ultras of Hellas Verona has been banned from the stadium till 2030, because his actions severely conflict with the club's ethical values.

Which in itself is hypocrisy from the highest order, as both the manager and the chairman denied that there was anything racist coming from the stands, which can be clearly heard on the footage of the game.

So that fixture congestion that Liverpool have got in December? its now been comfirmed they will field two different XI's in two days, they will play the young players against Aston Villa in the league cup on December 17th whilst the first team will fly out to Qatar to take part in the World Club Cup, of which they play the semi final match on the 18th.

This sounds mad and here was talk of postponing the league cup game but Liverpool seem pretty confident.

There was a discussion on NBCSN here in America this past weekend about this congestion problem. The two options that were brought up were to eliminate a cup competition, I'm assuming the league cup. Or the second one was to reduce the number of teams in the Premier League to 18 similar to what the Bundesliga has. The elimination of those 4 games would help to give players on the remaining teams some extra rest between all of these competitions.

I don't think reducing the number of teams would be a viable option because of all the money that it means to especially the smaller teams that get promoted. Plus how would that effect relegation both in the Premier League and the ripple effect it would have in the lower leagues?

In 2012 Wrexham fielded two teams on the same day at the same time to play in both the FA Cup and Welsh Cup.

A team of Liverpool's stature and squad depth will be able to handle this no problem.

Granit Xhaka has been stripped of the Arsenal Captaincy for his reaction to being booed by his own fans and Aubameyang has been given the armband.

I hope Arsenal fans are happy with themselves

Surely Klopp isn't going to coach both teams right?

Little bit, yeah. Perhaps the captain shouldn't be telling the fans to **** off. For the record, he was booed/jeered for taking his sweet time walking off the pitch when the team needed to score.

There is a league game on tomorrow night and I'm in work for most of tomorrow so I sort of have to post this now, here are this weekends games.

Friday Night
Norwich v Watford (8pm Sky)

Saturday
Burnley v West Ham
Chelsea v Crystal Palace (12.30 BT)
Leicester v Arsenal (5.30 Sky)
Newcastle v Bournemouth
Southampton v Everton
Tottenham v Sheffield United

Sunday
Man United v Brighton (2pm)
Wolves v Aston Villa (2pm Sky)
Liverpool v Man City (4.30 Sky)

Liverpool-Man City the obvious big game but Leicester-Arsenal is pretty big as well.

There is another international break after this weekend as the Euro Qualifiers conclude, Gareth Southgate named his England squad today, Hudson-Odoi and Ox-Chamberlain are both back in, Lingard and Kyle Walker continue to miss out.

Feyenoord Rotterdam are playing against Young Boys, in the Europa League. They have a new trainer, Dick Advocaat.

There is also the first round of the FA cup this weekend, BBC and BT are sharing the coverage again and both will have matches this weekend, starting with Dulwich Hamlet v Carlisle on BBC Two tonight.

Michael O'Neill has been appointed new Stoke manager, he leaves his position as Northern Ireland head coach after eight years in charge, when he took over they were 129th in the rankings and he took them up to 20th in 2017, he will still take charge of their final qualifiers during the international break.

American Christian Pulisic scored his 5th goal of the season as Chelsea beat Crystal Palace 2-0. Hope his good form continues.

Another American, Deandre Yedlin scored a goal for Newcastle as they won at home over Bournemouth 2-1.

Wolves 2-1 Aston Villa
Man United 3-1 Brighton
Liverpool 3-1 Man City

Impressive Liverpool performance in another VAR (or on this occasion lack of!) riddled game, Fabinho with a lovely long range goal for the first but there was a hand-ball from Alexander-Arnold at the other end right before the goal and it was pretty blatant and it wasn't referred to VAR, Salah with a nice header for the next goal with offside doubts and again VAR wasn't used as Liverpool went 2-0 up at the break. Mane got a third before Bernardo Silva got a goal back and there was another hand ball too from TAA, Pep went mad on the touchline and at full time he shock the refs hand and said 'thank you so much, SO MUCH!' sarcastically.

Man United had a nice win and performance with goals from Pereira Rashford and a Propper own goal and Dunk got Brighton's goal, nice win for Wolves too.
