2021 F1 Driver ThreadFormula 1

Thats not so bad then. I only spend $100 a year on maintenance. Two oil changes.

So $10,000 a year. Every successful business owner in the world can start an F1 team then! We should have 40 cars on the grid no problem!
Your car doesn't need to refuel and change tyres? I doubt it. Also add insurance and taxes. And we're not talking about F1, just an entry level of GT4 series or the smallest Formulas season.

Fuel isn't maintenance. Its running costs. Same for taxes and insurance. Tires last more than one year. This topic is F1. So thats what we're talking about.

I think they're going to be regretting that.

Shame, I wouldn't have minded having a fittipaldi and a Schumacher in the same line up, what a story that would have been.

Well there goes Haas' credibility out the window. Good job Gene. As rich as you are, you morals fold for a little extra money. Even with the forthcoming Ferrari help. Disappointed.

**** Haas. I hope 2021 will bring them nothing but reliability issues.

Same. My respect for them and Mazepin has dropped through the floor. I will never be a fan of Haas, at least not with the current management.

Surprised the sponsors and F1 didn't do anything about it.

Botch both pit stops in the same manner when the drivers were set for their best result
Two drivers who crash into each other and openly complain about how bad the car is
A scam title sponsor who bails and then slanders the team on social media
One of their drivers almost dies in the car
New driver brings a #MeToo scandal to the team

Things are going well...

America is #1! Our goal is to make the Life team look competent!

They look like a bunch of wankers.

I know F1 and FIA have taken a back seat with this but they must know this also hurts their image as well. I'd like to think this isn't over in that respect.

In the meantime, who the f are Has F1?

Formula 1: We race as (m)one(y)

Very clever!

I do hope F1 as a whole gets backlash for accepting this to happen.

The fact that nothing was done both from Haas and F1, pretty much means they're ok with it at this point.

Maybe we need a petition to start?

You've got to feel for Mick Schumacher, really.
One can only hope there'll be an opening at Alfa Romeo in 2022. You'd have to figure by then either Kimi will finally step aside or they'll decide to trade up from Giovinazzi.

Either that or he pulls his Ferrari ties and goes to McLaren/Mercedes.

I doubt they'll let him go that easily. Certainly the folks at Maranello know that having a Schumacher in a red car when they return to winning form would be a PR bonanza, but at the same time they're still investing mainly in Leclerc right now and unless Sainz royally stuffs it up next season, I can't see them only keeping him on for one year.

That said, we all know how things can go upside down in a second, so maybe Leclerc-Schumacher in 2022 isn't too far out the realm of possibility too.

The problem with kicking Mazepin out is that Haas will lose a lot of funding, and for a team that's on the ropes, it's basically a death sentence. I don't know what I'd rather - a guy who touches women inappropriately or one less team on the grid. If Haas want to stay in the game, they need to take the money or they'll be forced to pull out (even if Mazepin doesn't if you know what I mean). It's a sticky situation that I definitely wouldn't want to be a part of.

Surely that's the easiest part?

I think that a better-late-than-never affirmative action right now from Haas would boost their credibility enormously. They could blame legal pressure from a billionaire before doing a sink or swim Right Thing. Sponsors would be onto that like a tramp on chips.
