Yup, that was my plan exactly.

So copy all the settings exactly as per the event notice and BOP and should be same? I've heard some people stating they're not quite the same, but I'll test on that basis anyway.
The physics aren't the same, but the fuel will be the same. Custom races limit you to 10x for tyre/fuel though, so you can't use them for races higher than that. (Also longer tracks like the Nurburgring have lower limits, I don't know why)

There used to be a money farming method at the Nordschleife where you could race against Gr.1 cars and have the fuel multiplier high enough so they'd run out of fuel and it'd be an easy win even in a very slow car, so to stop that they limited the multipliers

Custom race against AI? If so you can change all the settings beforehand including tyre wear and fuel, grip reduction needs to be on Real and Boost Off, I always also just race against one AI opponent as I find them incredibly annoying!

Can confirm, the AI is obnoxious to race against.

However if you’re in lower lobbies - like me - it is useful in that it teaches you how to handle passing a driver that chooses to brake mid corner or goes At 70 around a corner that’s 90+

Not as good for determining a race pace against other people, but good for learning the circuit and a basic tire/fuel strategy before facing live competition.

Looking forward to tomorrow's race. Feels nice to drive road cars again. The Minis are fun, and I happen to love this course. Very reminiscent of the Daily Race A from the 2nd week of December 2020 that featured N100 cars with the Mazda Demio as the meta. Scooped up over 20 wins on that Daily Race that week, so here's hoping I actually have a shot at winning my first-ever Nations Cup race! My practice lap gives me some hope at least! :D

Oh I remember that (I did it at Le Mans), didn't realise that was why it got changed.

So for Tokyo next week. Can confirm that you're in trouble if you drive a thirsty car, drive an automatic or are shocking at fuel saving . First lobby test last night and in the Corvette, with short shifting, managed to get to lap 7. You can't put enough fuel in to make it to the end. Major short shifting after that, and even running fuel map 6 for the last two laps, ran out of fuel 3/4 way round the final lap. I did lose slip early on which doesn't help. Poor guy in a GTR had to fuel twice and ended up 1 minute 20 seconds behind the winner.

Going to take some practice with shifting and mapping to keep it to a one stop.

Tried the Vette too and made it to the end after stopping lap 7, but was set to fuel map 3 for the whole second stint and short shifting also. Didn't have any slipstream.
I practiced this in a Custom Race several weeks ago, and ran into the same issues you did, so I put the fuel map at 2 in combination with short shifting (as soon as the red bar begins to fill), and made it to Lap 8. Refilling all the way again meant if I continued to drive like the first stint, I'd have enough fuel for one lap at full rich, shifting at the redline on the final lap. This was all running solo.

The world is working against me, first I had to wake up at 4 AM to make a meeting for work Wednesday morning. Then after getting home late, it was a dive bomber on Wednesday's FIA. He just decided to barge in on a great and enjoyable race I was having. Then it was YouTube not processing my video. Then I make a nice well thought out post on GTP and the silly touch pad on my laptop decided to wig out and deleted my GTP post. I give up... Not losing my mind again.

Started bad, finished ok, lost my mind in the middle. LOL. Love Greddy.

Yeah second attempt I did the same with a little nudge to map 3 through the docks a few times and made it into pits lap 8 with 0.7 laps of fuel left.

One thing I do not like about the csl elite is the litttle joystick. I had to change MFD Up and Down to the the left side buttons so I could change my fuel mapping. The joystick seems overly sensitive in that you have to hit it perfectly up or down.

I use the right side joystick on my CSL for the MFD, left and right to cycle through and up and down to change. (I think they call it the funky switch). I only use the left joystick to look behind.

Yeah I don't have any issues with the right hand joystick on my Fanatec either, though it took some getting used to when the wheel was new for sure.

I was in that same race with @Seth_Logan and the rest of you, I ran a moderate fuel saving first stint and pitted on lap 8 with 7% fuel left, just under 1 lap, then I went flat out for the second stint which left me half a lap short of making the full distance so I was limping through most of the final lap in FM 6 and 6th gear.

That was my first go with tyres and fuel turned on however, and I haven't practiced fuel saving in the Cayman at all so I was kind of winging it. Gonna practice some more so I can find a good balance. If I can eke out one more lap before pitting I should be able to go flat out in the second stint no problem, and if I can't I need to sneak some fuel saving into the second stint as well.

I ran completely without slipstream in the second stint though, so if I can catch some of that half a lap shouldn't be hard to find.

Well, I did a 56.867. Not far off. I'll run it. Should be exciting to see who tries to go even more at the apex, when players are already at the apex.
I am expecting lots more of this. Going to run it as a laugh. Not expecting anything but a silly 20 minutes. Or if I get launched early, a long boring finish. Either way it means no stressing and practicing for a serious combo this week.

See how we go

Congrats to Dragline for the podium, but what the hell, man?! The Car 8th & 15th in my pic above. Just ruined everything. The purple car blasts through three of us. I drop spots. Then, That darren guy is shoving and blocking three of us at the back! We were in striking distance to stay with everyone else and we each had a go at knocking this dude out of the picture so we could race! Ridiculous.

Once we dropped darren, we(9th and 4th above) had a clean battle to the finish.

Edit: At Raptor. For sure. I was being too nice with leaving room. Then, BAM!

In @05XR8 s lobby. Bump drafted a dude through qualy. Pole with a 56.6 for me, 2nd with a 56.8 for him.

Race was ok. 3 of us at the front got out of slip range of 4th on the first lap (not sure what happened behind). Built a gap, but the other 2 up front wanted to battle the whole way instead of bump drafting to get a huge break. Nothing much happened until lap 17 when 4th caught up and a 3 way bump fest erupted around me. I kept it clean and just hung with pack until I was p4 going in to the last turn. Didn’t quite nail it and came out p3. Ran to the line for a podium and 135 points. Silly but amusing race.

edit: @Raptor013 didn’t realize you were in there too. Sounds like it was mayhem back in the pack. Glad some clean battling was the worst I had to deal with.

It was not too horrible. Just basic horrible, but still, it was manageable. Not sure if players had too much rear brake. Some were slamming on the brakes and having to deal with massive oversteer and speed dropping off.

Watch for three wide nearly everywhere. It can work if people give room(
