Void round.
Car misbehaved in both races I did. Quit both of them.
Shame as the practices went so well, I just can't explain it.
Really really 🤬 annoyed right now.
I also hated tonight's round of the Manufacturers Series. I had felt uncomfortable with this race, even though I had finished fifth and fourth at the 4PM and 6:40PM races respectively. I had gave up the ghost in this round of the MS.

Urgh. Race over before it began. Qualified 6th, punted hard at turn 1 and stopped spinning with my front bumper against the wall in the sand. Finished lap 1 in 18th, 19 seconds behind the leader. Kept it pretty clean from there on passing people who pitted or crashed and finished 5th, 22 seconds from first. I think I only made two genuine passes to gain all those spots.

Americas Slot 1, door #7, sharing lobby with @KosmoKazi. Good qualifying but the race was a disaster. Was bumped wide many times, once sandwiched between two cars and once got spun around. Frustrated, made a mistake myself as well. After all the chaos I was last. Made up a few places from people pitting or making mistakes. Caught up with @KosmoKazi, and in the last lap, went side by side as he had bad exit, had the intention to back out but I got bump drafted by another guy which made the situation awkward going into the esses, as I unintentionally had to go for a move at a place I wouldn't want to. As we left each other space, we both ended up losing the position to the guy behind, finishing P12 and P13.

I wasn't able to do slots 2 and 3. I read there were some server issues so maybe that was lucky...

Americas Slot 4, door #19. Got matched together with the Portuguese #1 IOTW, who immediately got lots of very kind messages as soon as chat opened, so it seems he made some new friends in the earlier slots...

Qualified P7. Clean start, although instead of racing smart, another driver insisted in overtaking me with a speedy RCZ and then make a mistake, go again for the move, make another mistake, and so on... until he made a bigger mistake which dropped him out of my slipstream. Unfortunately, I didn't have any from the cars ahead anymore either.

Spent most of the race close to getting into the slip of the two cars ahead, but not close enough. Built a comfortable gap to all the guys behind, in P7. Towards the end, the guys ahead started fighting, and eventually took each other out into the final corner, promoting me to P5.

Was then promoted to P4 starting the final lap as our Portuguese/American pitted from the lead on soft tyres. The good thing about him running that poor strategy is that he qualified ahead of me, but I managed to easily finish ahead without ever being close to him during the race. Even on that strategy, he still managed to anger a few in the post-race chat, however...

Without the unfortunate battles of the first couple of laps, I probably could have been in the podium fight with some slipstream, but in the end, happy with the P4 finish, 7 sec off the winner. First race was such a disaster that my race time in this slot was 21 seconds faster.

My guess would be that the viable strategies they wanted to have were a soft-hard 1 stop or hard only no stop (like Nations at Spa). However I think PD don't have an option to have only have softs and hards (without mediums) so the mediums end up getting included in the available selection regardless.

And people selected them by the millions in my race. There were more switches from meds to hard, than soft to hard

I should have followed my gut feeling and given this race a miss but jumped in at the last minute, I'm struggling with a hearing problem this week and not been able to hear the car and tyre noise was a bit of an issue early in the race but I think it was more the lack of practice and my strategy that went against me.

Qualified a low 17th as blocked on my fast lap which would have seen me top 10, Finished 15th on a one stopper and would probably have been a better option to start on soft and change. I was bumped of 4 times by over enthusiastic over takers using me to slow down and received a penalty when I moved over out of someone's way as I was going slow after re-joining and they thought it would be a good idea to use a slower car for a tow and rammed me from behind, as usual they got no penalty but sure why would we be surprised by that.

Anyway on to the next race and I'm giving the Mini's a miss as I have been racing in Mini lobbies and with BoP on it's just no fun.

I was pretty bummed by tonight's race. I like the track, Sardinia C. I'm usually pretty quick around the smaller tracks. I didn't think my M4 had winning pace, but I qualied okay. B/S lobby, door 15, Q5. I had a pretty simple plan. Hard no stop, follow the guy in 4th and avoid fighting. Drive smooth, be careful. That was out the window when I got absolutely torpedoed in turn 3 (4?), the fast left hander. I was going easy, since P3 and P4 were fighting already, so when P6 comes flying in, totally out of control and slams me off the track, into the barrier, into the barrier edge into a spin, I went from 5th to 19th. Totally demoralized, utterly disgusted, 17 seconds back from P18. I stagger through the next 24 laps gaining 3 places for a depressing P16. All is not lost, though. I take a shower to wash away the failure and go for the second NA slot at 20:20. Door 16, Q11. Brutally rear ended in turn 1, just as I committed to the turn. Spun from P11 to P20. I limped along for 7 more laps, then got hammered into the wall because P18 didn't want to be over taken. Rage quit, lost 3K in DR between the two races, and probably my interest in this game. I love the drive, but I can't deal with the bumper car/Forza/Mario kart bull****e any more. There is no incentive to practice and improve when it can all get unraveled by a dirty or reckless/careless driver.

I have been racing in Mini lobbies and with BoP on it's just no fun.

Mini lobbies with tuning fully open are so much fun - racing tyres, a stiff suspension, a proper gearbox and a good amount of power make them handle like a kart with a roof. With BOP on... not so much.

Still, I'll have a go this weekend - I got on the pace pretty quickly in practice (not hard when there's only one braking zone!) so I should be on for a decent result.

I was looking forward to the race with the Mini but I get more and more the feeling that it's going to be a dirtfest. You're racing a slow and managable car on a track that wouldn't be challenging in cars with four or five times the power. There's only really one corner where a superior driving technique will set you apart and that is where all the divebombs are going to happen. Plus, there's the grid start so you'll be approaching that hairpin bunched right up with everyone. I think Tsukuba would've been the better choice for this one.

Yes this could be a very strange race. Only one braking zone and space to go 5 wide round most the track (except for that chicane at the end where I can see a lot of carnage happening, it was the scene of some shocking behaviour in daily A in the Mx5/mazda roadsters a couple of months back).

I'm guessing there isn't a strong slipstream effect with Minis?

Sorry that it went so badly for you. I think this combo, with a short track, limited overtaking opportunities and the importance of slipstream. Made it more aggressive/dirtier. Much like Tokyo may be.

I've had to find a balance, between showing up with no clue what to expect and preparing for a race. The more practice you put in, the better your chances of a good result, but with that, the higher your expectations of doing well. In the latter case, dirty drivers can truly ruin the experience for you.

I guess we all have that experience, but like truly insane people, we keep showing up and hoping that we can get a good race.

It's actually a nice track for a sprint race when it's clean, if there wasn't the option to non-stop it might made it a bit different but as you said limited overtaking and you just have to pile on the pressure, so many out-brake themselves on the early laps and you need to make the most of it which I did until they caught back up and used me to stop. I race this in lobbies for N100-400 and it's an enjoyable track but the guys who do them races are very clean drivers most of the time.

Agree with all of this, though Tsukuba could be pretty dirty as well with everyone being bunched up going into both of the sharp hairpins on Lap 1. Maybe Brands Hatch Indy, or Suzuka East?

What's happened to Brands? Hasn't come up for ages, either Indy or GP.

Red Bull Ring short might be another possibility? Although the home straight would take forever in the Mini:lol: I actually think it's more enjoyable than the full RBR layout.

I am already trying out different lines to try and minimize divebomb vulnerability. It’s a very strange track in that respect. You don’t necessarily need to run the traditional racing line for competitive lap times.

You were too kind to give back that spot... as you said: I didn't get a good exit and your run up the back stretch was deserved, and I know you were being pressured by that other Porsche. We actually made it through the esses and the wall ok, given that it typically ends badly when side by side there! That guy had pitted for new tires and was trying to get back to the front, and while he's not dirty, he is typically aggressive, so I should have known I needed to press harder when he was behind us both. Glad you had a better result in your second try.

I screwed up that tricky left hander on lap one, cold hard tires for the first time and I made the rookie mistake that put me into the gravel, left me DFL, and 4 sec behind without a tow to keep up with the rest of the field. So I had to grind like hell to catch up, which was massively hard... taking away 0.3 sec per lap only to see it lost on the main straight as the aero train pulled away again... so the fact that I was able to claw back up to 11th/12th by the end was a minor moral victory.

Disappointed that I made that dumb mistake on lap one... at a race like that, there was no room for errors if you wanted a top 10. And: that race was a GRIND anyway... 25 laps of full-send into T1, and that awkward final turn... not one of the more fun tracks to race on (the other Sardegna are so enjoyable...). I did collect what are currently useful FIA points but it all cost me another 500 DR... which has been the story this FIA season. Every race! I'm just not up to speed lately. But I'm committed to one-and-done racing in FIA events, so I just need to "git gud" or deal with it.

I did have an issue with my G29 earlier in the day... the brake was stuck at 20% or so. I run a AXC-Sim Trubrake mod, so it's not the usual dirty sensor issue that plagues the stock design... took it apart, put it back together, and it seems ok, so I'm not sure what the issue was. I hope it's nothing. But I wonder if it was causing me problems at Lemans last week... when I mentioned I was getting pulled by even other Porsches so consistently.

FIA Manufacturers Series - Rd 5 / Sardegna C / Gr4
Qualified: 14th
Race: 12th

Lost about 500 DR / 100 FIA points

Wouldn't hurt if PD set up these N class cars with track set ups. It takes away the tuners ability to set up and allows the novice fair chance to jump in and race, with tighter suspension confidence.

Anyway, loving the Tokyo time of day. SHould be a fun race on RS.

Tuning would be fine if they did it like F1 2020 does, you can just go to the top 10 time list and download/see their tune, it’s simple and works. Then there is never any secret tunes. 👍

Slot 1: I had no pace in qualifying and could only set a 57.2 when I was capable of a 57.0 if I got everything right, so I started P17. I did make it up to P16 before catching the wall at T4 with my right rear, putting me into a perfect 360. Fortunately I at least ended up pointing in the right direction with no engine damage, but I was now 19th of 19. In the end I'd get back up to 16th after other cars also made mistakes.

Slot 2: For qualifying this time I decided to stay off the outside curbing braking for T1. The previous slot, I'd been using the curbing for qualifying, but not for the race. I found the 0.2s I'd been missing in qualifying the previous slot just by staying off that curb. I must've been avoiding it in previous mock qualifying runs but forgotten about it. :banghead: Anyway that was good for 6th on the grid. The 2 cars in front of me went off at T4 on cold tires, and I almost followed them off, but I didn't run as wide so I gained 2 spots right there, only to immediately lose one to the car behind who didn't make the same mistake, so that left me in 5th. We were in an angry pack from 3rd to maybe 10th for several laps, then eventually the Top 3 broke away and I dropped back to 9th after pinballing through the esses several times. Everyone in front of me was going full-send in T1, so despite my many mistakes, I stayed in touch with the pack in front of me. I gained a couple spots as people were punted at the final turn or run off the track at the exit of T1, then passed a few more people on my own. Ending the final lap, in a nearly identical repeat of the last time we raced this combo, I was in 5th headed into the final corner, tried to defend the inside, but still got overtaken at the finish and came home 6th. Unlike last time when I was passed around the outside, this time I went too deep and couldn't hold the inside and the car behind slid (literally) into the gap I left, and had his car pointed in the perfect direction to get a better exit. It was still worth 221 points, which means I now have 4 scores above 200 points, so for the remaining 5 rounds I can just race for maximum points instead of just taking the first "good enough" score I get. I'm probably going to need to average 240-250 per race to even have a hope of finishing in the Top 10 for Chevy. While that's 10-20 points better than my best scores so far, it's probably do-able if I can tidy up my mistakes (getting a corner cut penalty at Fuji on my way to 5th place and 231 points, pinballing through the esses at Sardegna before messing up my defense at the final corner on my way to 6th place, etc.).

Another good race - sort of.

Manufacture’s Race – Round 5
Sardegna - Road Track - C
FIA Gran Turismo Championship // Manufacturer Series
Last slot EMEA - TPC Hyundai Genesis GR.4

D/S Lobby
Qualified 19th
Tire strategy: RH (No stop)
Finished 16th
6 points for the Hyundai Team
-870 DR, +/- SR to remain at 99

The TPC Hyundai Genesis GR.4 was NOT awesome tonight!

Race ran clean and good for the lobby and myself but did feel like there just was no GR.4 Genesis power available on the straightaway. One ORANGE with a 2 second penalty for bumping in the braking zone (completely my fault).

No Nation's Cup again for me this weekend so I have all week to get the GR.4 car ready for Tokyo. I cannot wait until Round 7 when the GR.3 car is back.

Enjoy your racing – Good luck to all this season!

I wish there was a way to ban alt accounts in general. I know there isn't a feasible way. The only realistic way I can think is scanning your driving license or ID as proof, but that will NEVER happen.

To me, Alt Accounts seem like they're just for massaging ones ego more than anything. Running in a lower lobby to do better... Especially for dailies, it doesn't work quite as well in FIA due to the points given out, but some will still like the wins.
Taking a hit and falling (DR reductions in this case) are part and parcel of racing, and in fact sport in general. YouTubers also use ALTs a lot of the time in order to make "great content" where they're pulling off last to first wins, crazy overtakes, or yeah just generally some carnage. All to boost their engagement figures. They couldn't make that content on their normal accounts because of the skill gap - there in lies the issue, getting "false" wins because you'e in a lower skill lobby than you should be. I'm sure the lower rated players don't actually want an actual A+ driver in their lobby, taking what could be their win. I actually prefer watching league racing vids on YouTube though tbh, for that reason - the skill level is higher and the racing is of a better quality.
Basically smurfing. it is frown upon in other competitive series but nobody seem to care for it in GT Sport -_-

Gotta be careful with that. There's usually a qualy tune and race tune. Not sure if that's the case, but that's ideal to have two different set ups regarding each session.
