A new milestone for me as I was in an FIA race with an A+ driver for the first time:

Gran Turismo™SPORT_20210605150447.jpg

Qualified 8th 4.6 second off pole. I got held up just before the straight by the Dutchman who at that point had 3 seconds worth of penalties. I was surprised at how tight the grid was, but if A+ people are showing up I suppose it's a strong field.

Turn 1 a Porsche behind me completely misjudges the braking but he was close enough to me that when he moved to the inside he shot right past me and I didn't have to worry. He bumped a Ferrari but nobody lost a place.

I tried to keep in slipstream of the cars in front but couldn't really manage it. I was running in FM2 and shortshifting so there wasn't much I could do, and a Supra passed me at the start of the straight at the top of the circuit.

Coming out of the mini-karussel a Swede in an Alfa running 2nd went wide and spun so I got a place back there. I let him back past me at the top straight again on lap 2 and tried to follow his slip, I sort of managed it but not really. On the straight and I was right behind the Ukranian in an NSX who I usually race against, I bumped him down the straight and got some time in at FM6. He pitted (and tbf his fronts were basically normal and his rears weren't) so I started lap 3 in 8th.

The Porsche who had dived into turn 1 had caught up to me by this point and after giving a few bumps along I eventually went wide at the left hander that's just after a portaloo on the right hand side - a hateful corner with fitting ornamentation. Further along the Swede in the Alfa went wide on the right hander leading on to the top straight (side-note: I've just discovered my name is spray painted on the track there) so I gained another place up to 8th. Going round the Karussel the Supra who'd passed me earlier and was in 3rd spun so I went up to 7th.

Remarkably in all of this an Aston Martin that had fallen off the back of the train I was following in the opening lap had ended up in 4th, which was the final 200 point-paying place. I hoped he would struggle and push back the Ferrari and Porsche behind him but instead he just got wide at the left-hander before the mini-Karussel, putting me up to 6th. I had checked how much fuel I used going from the bridge to the end flat out and I had enough to go for it but I didn't catch up even though I think the Ferrari up ahead was close to running out.

Gran Turismo™SPORT_20210605160127.jpg

Ended up with this, beat the A+ driver and my DR is now 46.8k. Winning race time was 25:16 in a 230-something room, I was a 25:32. It's frustrating that a track where the GT-R works going flat out had these conditions attached to it, but I'm not going to manage better than that.

Well that was frustrating thanks to a Dutch idiot.
I'm on my granny outlap and I still catch up to a few people on is a Dutchman in a Jag. I make a point to sit behind them as they'll probably be quicker on the actual lap. However they go wide at Warsteiner and I have to take the place so to not compromise my lap. They try to go under me at the first corner of the Nord but obliviously it wouldn't work. Still it shows the intent. I'm feeling good with the lap. They haven't tried to pass on the run to Swedishcross or from Bergwerk to which I'd have happily let them go. Coming out of the Karussell and I am shoved sideways into a spin. I don't go around because my car in now pinning the Jag into the barrier. Thanks to this I stay ahead but the damage has been done. Overheated, dirty tyres on a psycho car. Coming out of Hohe Acht the car goes around again. Lap over so I quit. The idiot gets seventh on the grid. Funny, even though I back out to the main screen everyone has to wait 4 mins or so as I haven't crossed the line. I call him out and he arrogantly says 'I'm faster so let me pass.' Well you couldn't pass me in the places for it. You made a mistake and then shoved me off when you couldn't pass properlly. What a 🤬. Will be a straight punt on sight in the future. Just no racecraft and a poor attitude. Need less like him in the game.

So starting P20 on Hards. Make a few places on the opening lap as people run into issues. I do accidentally hit a Pole in Swedishcross only because he tapped the brakes and I wasn't expecting that in B rank Gr3. Lap 2 and the car goes in the corner with the Polish flags before Bergwerk and Bergwerk itself. :dunce: Other than that I was fine and made my stop for meds lap 2 as did those around me. So status quo from there for a P16 finish. These points will end up in the bin, but a top 12 was definitely on if not for the ruined qualy. Can't go again as busy and cannot be bothered. Here's to the next round.
20210605_160122.jpg

Well I'm not doing that again.

Quali lap I binned it extrordinarily on the third corner, just, had a brain blip. realised I'd missed the corner and went BEYOND Narnia! exited and then did another outlap to get some more SR, so started second last.

Finished the race 12th, was just carnage. I need a lie down.

Nothing's impossible with a bit of clever coding, surely?

If player on outlap = true, shortcut = open / bypass Nords / don't reset player / reset lap segments or w/e...start time from the line.

Though it's more complicated than that, it shouldn't be impossible...right?
I guessing its has to do with licenses to use that layout. Just a guess

The race was....something.

So going to this race I was nervous as I'm not much into fuel saving so this is like a test. I managed to nab pole position and from there I got even more nervous.

Race started and set my fuel map to 5 as my plan is to do two laps on FM5 and at the last lap, go all out with FM1 then while the Bug driver overtook me, he was caught getting divebombed by a M6 GT3 driver. He got the two second penalty which was enough for me to regain my lead.

And then going to the Nordschleife, I was greeted by a Vantage GT3 driver where I found him to be a threat as he's gaining on me quick which is where I'm starting to wonder if he's doing strat 1 (no stop) or strat 2 (2M+1H and refuel) but in any case I remained consistent in N24 where the Vantage GT3 was not having a good time around the track but he's still keeping up with me which is where I'm really am convinced that he's doing strat 2.

20210605225758.jpg

By the time we reached the long straight, the inevitable overtake happened and I just let it him pass me because I was planning to be patient and just let him do his thing aka strat 2.

20210605225805.jpg

Here I thought I'm starting to lose the Vantage when the driver was doing strat 2 until the driver spun out and once again I took the lead and it was the same story as ever when we entered the Nords for the second time. And then by the time the final lap arrived, I noticed that he didn't box and that's where I was like "this guy is done like he's gonna lose fuel eventually" and my fears were correct as he ran out of fuel when we entered the Nords for the final time.

Gran Turismo®SPORT_20210605225734.png

And from there, I was on route to my first win with the Porsche 911 RSR.

Gran_TurismoSPORT_20210605185736.png

Overall this race felt nerve racking as I was keeping an eye out on my fuel. I'm glad that I finally won a race with the RSR in the Manufacturers Series. And it also allowed me to complete one of my main goals which is winning a Manufacturers Series race in both the Cayman and RSR.

Was number 20 just like on Wednesday so wasn't expecting much. Matched my practice lap in quali which put me P14. Unfortunately I had a shocking lap 1 of the making 3 big mistakes and another on lap 2 meant I had no chance of a good result though probably would've only been like P10 at best anyway. But on the bright side I wasn't last

Decided to give it a go with only 2 laps practice. Took the risk that not many would no stop. Lack of practice showed as I had a horror of a qualifying session, starting 16th and the slowest of all those that actually set a time.

Stayed in fuel map 1 whole race, just short shifting the entire time. Gamble paid off with almost everyone pitting. Was 3rd on the last lap but got passed by someone who had plenty of fuel and fresh tires.

Well, I did worse than I'd hoped... I used fuel to make up for my mistakes and it cost me greatly by the end. Quali'd 5th, I think I finished 7th...I actually forgot. It's very hot today, I should've had my AC on...it was hard to think straight...

Met @VulcanSpirit in the race. We quali'd within a tenth together, he was ahead and finished ahead. Not much to comment on, other than say...thanks for the race. Sorry, I'm kinda weird.

One guy got pole, drove 2 laps on meds and boxed for hards, but still finished quite far ahead, so the one-stop strat is a viable option after all...

he arrogantly says 'I'm faster so let me pass.'

Interesting to see NA isn’t the only place this attitude is rampant.
No matter the q time or relative pace it’s the overtaking cars responsibility to be safe.

It irritates me because often players over here think the same, since they qualified faster than crashed that everyone owes them some spots back lmao. Why?
Gamers have bizarre thinking sometimes…
Like the attitude they are the only person in the race, only car on track…

Did the jag on OZ and it's really tight for fuel. I ran out at last corner and was on 6 for most of last lap, if I was to go in that again I'd pit YMMV
I tried FM2 and RH, no-stop. Short shifting at about 25-30%. Still had 3% remaining as I crossed the line. Should have started pushing a little harder as I almost caught a Porsche who was clearly on a fuel save mission.

Well, that worked out better than I had thought it would. I purposely gave myself PLENTY of space in the qualifying and ended up chasing the pole sitter in the second half of the lap. She was absolutely flying, and I was 13s behind on my Q time! I ended up Q9.

Went for a no-stop using FM2, RH, BB-1, and short shifting around 25-30%. My lap times weren't amazing, but I kept things consistent and purposely didn't hold up the quick guys. I had a couple of little mistakes along the way, a couple of offs that fortunately didn't cost me too much time or result in any penalties, and I was pretty happy with my driving overall. Last lap I started in 5th, but had to give way to a GTR who had just pitted and was on a go-fast mission. Managed to hold on to 6th until the end, almost catching a Porsche in the last sector. 76 points, and 700-odd DR points. Happy with that, but one is enough in that race!!

First slot was a bit of a disappointment with the disconnection, but I took a breather for the second slot and then went back at it for the third slot.

I put it on pole with a margin of 0.8s which I felt good about, and I managed to open the race up fantastically having a 2s lead when we entered the Nordschleife. I was fuel saving a bit too aggressively though which allowed the other cars to catch me up, and on the run up from Bergwerk I had P2 and P3 breathing down my neck and some guy from further back (I think?) tried to barge through like a mad man before Mutkurve and was trying to shove me off track. This Porsche don't take to being shoved though so I shoved him right back and would you know it, he disappeared? No idea where he ended up, gonna watch the replay later.

That let P2 and P3 squeak by me though so now I was running in P3 and defending from P4, but by the end of lap 2 I was all caught up with them and to my great fortune the guy in P3 pitted so now the hunt was on for P1. I was hanging on to him pretty well, planning to bide my time for any possible mistakes on his part or to make a move on the Döttinger Höhe, but the rear end of the RSR had gotten a bit squirmy at that point and it nearly got away from me a couple of times with the result that we entered the Höhe straight with a far too big of a gap for me to have a chance at regaining slipstream.

Finished P2 in the end, 1.3s down from the leader, which I consider a good run because I kept it on track the whole way through, did a great qualifying lap, scored my highest score to date and further increased my DR by 1200 points.

Well, the extra practice lobbies helped me in the end. Felt I could gain another second on my fastest FP time (8:07.559), but couldn't quite it to gel, which is a shame since the Gr.3 WRX feels incredibly confident and planted over the Nordschleife in lobby trim. I had high hopes for another top 10 score to complete my set for the first season, but that depended entirely on whether I could keep it together and not bin it like I did countless times going into the 15:00 EMEA slot. Would I hold it together, or would I fall foul of the Grüne Hölle's tricks once again?

15:00 Manufacturers
Met @NekoPufferPPP along with two other AMGs and a squadron fleet of five V12 Vantages. Other machinery included two 911s, two Lexuses and one each of an F-Type, FT-1, Citroën, Mustang (!), Peugeot and Viper. Followed the 'slowest out lap' technique shared by others and got a clean lap on Mediums and brake balance -2 with only a few minor mistakes. Time was an 8:11.723 which was just under 4.2 seconds off FP and only 2.552 seconds off the Viper who snatched pole at the last minute. Felt fantastic with that lap which was good enough to land a 4th place start, right behind the British Porsche and the Citroën.

Racing strategy was the no-stop on Hards as I found out early in testing that the time losses for refuelling made any gains on Mediums negligible. Spent the early part of the race maintaining a decent gap over NekoPuffer while saving fuel and keeping as close as possible to the Porsche-Citroën battle up front. The Viper, however, had already disappeared into the sunset, which made me think... did he forget to change compounds before the start? Surely I could end up with a podium or even victory if that was the case? By Adenauer-Forst, everyone from 2nd to 8th seemed to be in with a shout. A couple of corners later, the Porsche loses it on the kerb and drops to the back of the queue - next thing I know, I'm sitting in 3rd with the Citroën seemingly getting more ragged as the first lap went on.

I have to thank NekoPuffer for keeping his distance during this time and bump-drafting me for a boost down Döttinger Höhe. This brought us right up to the back of the Citroën and I was able to pull out in front of the latter with a better run down the start-finish straight. In hindsight, this was to be my undoing, as I forgot to realise that this would have put me on the outside on the second part of the Mercedes Arena chicane. Having braked earlier than the Citroën, I end up being cut off at the apex and lose two places to the Lexus and the recovering Porsche; I didn't realise until much later that the Lexus had made a lunge up the inside, cutting across the white line between the tarmac and inner tyre stack while I was focused on getting a good enough exit. Hence the contact as I was reluctantly forced to slot in behind the Porsche.

As if that wasn't frustrating enough, three of the Astons were beginning to catch up, two of them of French origin and actually running on the one-stop (2M-1H). The first French car actually passed the yellow Dutch one before it became apparent that he was equally desperate to pass me as well. I made sure to defend as hard as I could knowing full well how little run-off there is on the Nordschleife, but through Kesselchen I get boxed in behind the Lexus and thus end up being muscled down to 8th behind both Frenchmen. The Dutch driver also passes under slipstream at Döttinger Höhe, but somewhat tempering my frustration was the sight of both Frenchmen pulling into pit road. The Viper had also pitted at the same time and, to my disbelief, managed to hold the lead with four cars (including NekoPuffer) breathing down his rear bumper.

Things got quiet after that until just after Wehrseifen, where after briefly passing the Dutch Aston and Citroën NekoPuffer was dropping back and I began to pressure him for 6th. Little did I know that as well as heavier tyre wear, he also appeared to be suffering with connection issues from my perspective. While braking through Schwalbenschwanz, every car around me suffered a lag attack; for NekoPuffer, this caused him to abruptly slow down, shuffle towards the the apex then suddenly slam into the barriers. I backed out immediately to avoid getting taken out, which had the side effect of allowing NekoPuffer more space to hang on to 6th. Or so I thought...

Very early on into the final lap, the Lexus cut across the grass at the second chicane and picked up a 1-second penalty. This was served down Döttinger Höhe and thus gave me a genuine chance of catching his slipstream on the run to Tiergarten. It helped that I saved enough fuel in traffic to have 12% remaining and switch to fuel map 1 for the last push from Galgenkopf. Didn't quite have enough power to make the move, but noticed NekoPuffer going much slower up the hill and followed the Lexus past him into 6th. Crossed the line with 5% fuel left in the tank - a considerable jump from the 1% I regularly recorded in testing!

Gran Turismo™SPORT_20210605155704.png

A bit miffed that I lost out on a realistic podium finish, and of the Astons forcing their way past me on Lap 2 when there was no need to, but otherwise delighted with the outcome. Best Gr.3 qualifying, best Gr.3 finish of the year to date and no mistakes severe enough to send me to the shadow realm. Probably the quickest and most consistent I've driven around the 24 Hour circuit with this combo. Thank you NekoPuffer and everyone else in the Top 5 for a close, tense race, and massive respect to the Viper driver for making the one-stop work out for him. I won't be around for the last Season 1 round at Sardegna A, so this will be my last 2021 Gr.3 Manufacturers showing for now. Time for me to retire for the night and savour the real-life 24 Hour race as it happens...

Now that's funny! I probably would have binned it if I was in your position. I can only imagine the guy's face when he ran out of fuel with the entire Nordschliefe left to go...

More fuel onto the fire for online play requiring licensing challenges that cover concepts like these.

...

I'm pretty bummed right now, I was actually looking forward to this round. But things have blown up in my world right now, both in work and home life. Ugh. I'm gonna miss the Toyota round tomorrow and possibly the Nations on Weds. And I was really looking forward to running the Tundra with @RX8 Racer 's itasha livery, too.

I'm watching Total Recall. The real one.

Get yo *** to Mahrs!

So I'm a bit inexperienced with actually running FIA races and did a second race last round and cost myself 20-30 points. I went in and did the first entry for the manufacturer series, qualified on pole and won on a no stop hard tyres in the Lexus which really doesn't like the bumps. This gave me 196 points.

My question is, is it worth going back in for more races? Unlike some I actually really enjoy the track but I'm also guessing that if I enter more I'm probably unlikely to improve the points total from the first race.

It really depends on you.

Me, I always think I'm going to do better but usually I end up doing worse. Personally I am trying to focus on taking my result and moving forward but It all comes down to you and your gut instincts.

I cannot stand people like that. I generally give way to them only to pass them when they bin it 3 corners later.

Well I'm not doing that again.

Gentlemen, you have convinced me that tonight is best spend with a double whiskey in hand and avoiding this race like the plague...

If only there was some way of seeing how much fuel a car had....:lol::lol::lol:

Congrats on the Victory!

Well, that was pretty much it - even though I completely ignored FIA races in the last months - cause of my frustrations of how PD treats the game + buying a new PC and trying ACC and Iracing, I still wanted to do some races from time to time for fun.

Last was a Gr4 at Mt. Panorama, were I was shoved around until I quit, but then I saw N24 which I absolutely love. Thought to have some fun and race multiple slots:

1st slot: shared the lobby with @stpatty - me being the A+ driver that was beaten. Had a not so good quali, being only able to put an 08:20 after being hindered by several drivers that I caught from behind. Then in the race, started P12 and was pretty much around P10 almost all race. Had twice some tussle with a Mazda player, first time he shoved me off on Dottinger straight to get slipstream then he pushed me wide in lap 2 and cost me about 3-4 seconds. Finished in P9, a clean race except with the Mazda.

2nd race - stronger lobby, my 08:17 was only enough for P13on the grid. Managed to climb 2 spots in the beginning but I was pushed in Aremberg after being pushed around whole straight before. Just remembered why I did not bothered with FIA and daily racing anymore...

If it was the Swiss guy in the silver Atenza (I'm assuming it was given the amount of people calling him dirty in the chat after), I had a funny moment with him during the Nations race last Wednesday. He said "f u stupid looser" to me in the chat after. When I watched the replay I saw he'd hit a different British person who was unghosting after going off the track then getting back up to speed. He seems very impatient any time another car's near him.

I did wonder what happened to you since I expected you to come through the field. A Nurburging race where fuel-saving is the strategy is always going to be a tough one for your first race in a while.

I was in touching distance for about 2 laps, I saved fuel to have enough to push in the 2nd half of the race. However when I started to push, passed the Mazda then he forced his way back on the long uphill straight and I lost too much time there to be able to recover.

My Hyundai was not the best here either, lacking a bit of top end on the fast section, plus being a bit squirmy in 2nd gear and lacking acceleration at lower speed compared to the power cars. Plus I am not the best at fuel saving races.

Quick report.

Entered 7pm slot, pretty sure it was 2nd split (door #1 was 72k). Was on an absolute flyer of a qualy lap, on for sub 8:10 at least, then got on the kerb at Bergwerk, a couple of twitches and around she went. 8:22 to put me 17th of 19 when a solid run would have seen me more like top three.

Anyway, it's N24, stuff happened and I finished 10th for 200 ish points, could maybe have sneaked 8th but for a bit of side by side with an Aston on the final lap that was heavily fuel saving. Caught him at the wrong place really - I still went though! It was fun but ultimately a little costly

I'd love to have been able to go again, I could definitely have got a near 300 score without the bin in qualy but real life gets in the way most of the time

Next track Laguna? Hate it, worst track in the world, have never raced there on GT Sport. Time to knuckle down and figure it out

I got sucked in. Went on an alt(close to A/S), in the C7. Noooo recognisable names in the room. Door 14 or something. Qualified on the RH. Everyone else on RM. Exited pits in 4th and just hammered the throttle to get around. I'm not conserving anything. Cars ahead were cruising and let me by.

Started P1. Lancer behind me held station until we entered the Nord. Began to pyit a little pressure, but I started the race on Fuel 2 and slight short shifting.

Lancer was getting some hurry up by an F-Type. They nearly both went off from what I could see by looking back. The F-Type is coming fast. It was patient, as I moved over.
A bit wild on some corner entries, I figured it was on RM. I stayed behind it and the Lancer was about .8-1.2 seconds behind me, until we started the climb uphill.

I followed the F-Type for the whilye lap. Stayed in its tow, as it does the swerve thing. Switched to Fuel 6 and 3 for half the straight. Cross the line with 2.3 laps of fuel. Jag still ahead through the first few turns. Suddenly, T5, Jag slams the brakes and pulls over. I nearly collect its bumper and evade, slowly. It's letting me pass.

Stay on my Fuel 2 through the exit of the GP course. From there, the Jag is dropping .3, .5, 1 second to about 4 seconds. By the big Karussel, I'm 10 seconds ahead. Lancer pits on RH(54% fuel) still in 3rd and another Jag in 4th.

Cross the start finish line with 1.2 laps left. P2 Jag pits this time on RM(I didn't look at it's fuel). P4 Jag moves to P2. 14 seconds behind. By the time I pass the big Karussel, gap is 20 seconds with .5 laps of fuel left. Get to the main straight with .3 laps and set to Fuel 1. Gap grows to 24 seconds at the line.

Lancer finished 3rd, late pitting Jag regains 4th. Penalties for just about everyone, P4 to an RSR that DNF'd.

On to Nations Free Practice. The FFs with no diff are too much fun! Peg-legging half the straights coming out of corners. Longest burn outs ever in the Abarth and Mk1 GTI. Those two do 9.5-10 second laps.
EK9 does in the 8 second range.
Went in the Atenza again. 6.1 was the fastest I could get it.
Jumped in the Demio. Love this little car now that I made liveries for it. So much torque(53.5kgfm). Second only to the monster Atenza(73kgfm). No other cars come close.

Anyway, 7 seconds was the best I could do last night. The diff helps with the torque. Just a whiff of tyre smoke. 4 seconds slower than the S-FR, will surely grow to about 8 seconds after the start of Lap 1. Might run it in "ST-5 class".:sly:
I did that with the Mk1 GTI, at Laguna Seca. Me and a Type II had our own race.

And they said you couldn't do a pit stop and win....

I'm not a fan of fuel saving races, but love the Ring, so I figured if I could qualify close to the front, I could probably salvage a top 5 even doing the 2M 1H w/fuel strategy, and it would still be good points and probably fun.

Lined up in the Jaguar in P3 but right behind a Mopar driver who is known to be sketchy, at best. I wanted to get to the front as quickly as possible and did so by the Schumacher "S" after 2 clean passes. I built up a 10 second lead on lap 1, and a 19 second lead on lap 2 before I pit for tires and fuel. I was happily surprised when 3rd, 4th and 5th also pit which put me back out in 2nd, 9 seconds behind the Viper, and 5 seconds ahead of new 3rd place. Perfect. :)

I figured I would get close to him by the end of the last lap but would only risk an overtake if it was very safe to do so. Having seen this guy in action many times, I wasn't going to risk anything but a guaranteed clean pass. Didn't have to worry about that as he binned it around 2/3 of the way through the lap as I had closed the gap to 2 seconds, gifting me the lead. From there, I just brought it home for a comfortable 9 second victory. Pretty happy with that

A season best 170 points, and a nice 1400 DR ~35.8K DR

69th sport mode win and 7th FIA win. :D

Hey, uh, I was looking at the Manufacturers Series manufacturer ranking - what the hell is going on with Renault Sport? Not only are they in dead-last, but they have less than half as many points as the next automaker. I’d chalk it up to a lack of skilled drivers signing up for Renault Sport, but I wouldn’t know for sure.

Ty

Ty I'll try. If it goes bad I have one more race.

Ok I did two FIAs. Both I qualified p5 and both I finished 7th. I used 2 diff. strats. First was rh not stop dm. The 2nd was 2 laps RM 1 lap RH....and fm where it makes sense of course. But I had I think .9 fuel left and I did a lil fm last lap bc I wasn't sure. It felt better with 2 laps med. I'm going to do the 2nd one again. But less fuel at pit. 73 points twice. If I mess up and get less so be it. I love Nurb Theres other races I like

FIA Manu Series - 24h Nurburgring

17:00 Slot - No Stop - A/S Lobby
Door: #5
Qualified: 3rd
Finished m: 14th

Murphy’s Law: everything that could go wrong went wrong! - Disastrous, forgettable...

18:20 Slot - No Stop - A/S Lobby
Door: #11
Qualified: 2nd
Finished: 2nd

After a shaky start, losing five positions in first few turns due to over anxious drivers on medium tires, I got it together and battled my way back to 4th. Kept up with 2 cars ahead until they pitted and gained the lead for a little bit. Got passed by the pole with new tires and fuel.. then settled in 2nd with 22s gap to 3rd. Happy with it!
