First off, I apologise to @PirovacBoy for not mentioning him by name in my last write-up. Thanks for the hard racing at Interlagos and the practice runs for this evening's trip around Sardegna B. Hope to see you on the track again the 18:20 turned out to be a less than easy affair.

18:20 Manufacturers
Plenty of variety once again, though I was only one of three 4WD cohorts along with the Lancer Evo from last time out and a Portuguese Mazda. Realised from practice runs that high 1:24s were achievable in qualifying with a gentle out lap, and this proved to be the case when I set a 1:24.962 to go 4th behind two Audis and a Scirocco. Gap between me and the polesitter was just over 9 hundredths - my fastest in testing was a 1:24.732, so not far off a second pole in that case.

Generally, I was happy with my race pace going into this, so had high hopes of getting a good finish and possibly taking advantage of the FWD runners eating their tyres up. Those hopes were quickly dashed when the TTs made an early break for it and the Halfords Scirocco (the same one who finished 2nd at Interlagos) makes a run on me through Turns 6, 7 and 8. Had a lucky break when the other Scirocco (driven by an Austrian player) slid and hit the inner barrier, but after that things went downhill. Couldn't get a consistent rhythm going as I was too focused on fighting the Halfords car then tried to defend from the more potent Red Bull BMW until he took 4th down the start-finish straight. For some reason, the WRX didn't feel as eager to turn in as in testing, though that could've been partially down to the minor errors I was making under braking during that phase.

More fighting ensued as the recovering Austrian bump drafted me and the BMW went wide near the turbines. Went three-wide a couple of times on Lap 5 as the Scirocco tried to force his way back past; at Turn 4, I was on the inside, the BMW got hung out to dry, but the Scirocco pulls clear and rockets into the distance on his way to retaking 3rd. This scrapping only allowed the tricolore Ferrari an opportunity to get a similar run to the Halfords car which I could do nothing against. The BMW also forced his way back past at Turn 8. End of the lap I put three wheels over the blue line at the final 'S' bend - something which I swore I would not do after practice - which is enough to pick up a penalty. As if the race wasn't already stressful enough! Followed the Cayman home in 8th as the rest of the group still fought for 4th, this time against the red and yellow TT who dropped off after taking the lead the few times.

Dejected to have lost out on Top 5 honours again, but still pleasantly surprised to salvage 201 points and another DR boost out of it. The speed differentials and constant scrapping in the first half made this a lot more frustrating and wearying than the test lobbies, and there were many times where I ended up driving a lot more forcefully than I would've liked despite the need to conserve the front tyres. Had I stuck it on pole, I'm sure I would've had the same issues against the TTs judging by how easily they rocketed away near the start. Not up for a rerun so this will have to do for tonight.

Was pretty stoked for this after performing well in testing, but despite a great qualifying session the 18:20 turned out to be a less than easy affair.

All Good my Friend, you really Made me sweat in that Race…the pressure you were putting on me over the Final few laps nearly crushed me. I enjoyed every second fighting it out in a fair manner with you. Respect for that, you drove like a Real Champ.
I was looking forward to meet you again when i entered 1st Slot for todays Round, but unfortunaly we didn’t end up in the Same Lobby.
Shout out to @TPC_Watto.
I think you were in my Lobby?!

Honestly I don't understand some drivers. 1st race, guy dips a wheel in the gravel out of the 1st corner so I go up the inside of him at the left hander, and then he punts me off. Went away and had food and watched a bit of tv and came back for another try.

Same guy gets last corner wrong in quali (put a wheel on the grass of the outside and nearly spun out), and then blatantly blocks me in the straight so I don't get my 2nd quali lap in. In the race I am having a nice bit of side by side action when the same guy dives up the inside of both of us and pushes us off the track.

3rd attempt and he qualifies in 1st with a 1:24.2 and then drives off into the distance (I got 4th). Not sure why he drives the way he does, he is clearly fast enough for top split races, but he drives like an idiot. If I ever see him in a race near me again I am probably going to put him in dust, and I wasn't the only one who felt that way. Strange that someone so fast gives so little respect to other people.

On the other hand I had a good race with the rest of the guys around me, so thanks to all the good drivers I had fun with :)

I had a break from GT and FIA (had a baby) and I feel like since I have come back the top few splits are so poor etiquette wise. I felt like I was the only one driving fair. Everybody else happy to just force you wide. The penalty system seems to allow for it these days so they don't even get penalised.

Lots of people ruining other drivers qualifying laps too. Its just not that enjoyable for me at the moment :(

Manufacturers Rd 2

Was looking forward to this race as much as I was dreading it, and in the end... not a fat lot happened! (Where I was at least)

Entered 3rd slot along with @Lost Sheltie

Was on a solid lap on my first hot lap in qualifying then messed up the final sector to the tune of 0.4s, stayed out, second lap was awful but the third and final lap of my qualifying run gave me a 24.9 and 3rd on the grid

And basically, 5th overtook 4th early on, top four broke away, I made a mistake on L9 to surrender 3rd place and came home 4th, 0.2 off 3rd for 272 pts (rounded down after a guilty party that Sheltie may have mentioned left the room). With the pace I'd had in practice I was very tempted to go again, but it seemed a lot of points to gamble and after seeing how fast a race could get destroyed through impatience (or blind stupidity) I decided discretion was the better part of valour and the points were collected (although I really could have had 300+ at this combo!)

I dont know what's happened to the driving standards in FIA lately, but I know down in Asia the merging of the Manufacturers regions seems to have brought out a serious change in behaviour. It seems the attitude that if the game doesnt punish you then it is fair has taken over for an awful lot of drivers. Added to that the increasing bumping due to all the ping issues and server loads and it is making the lobbies a bit of a mess. Nations still being Oceania only hasn't been affected as much since it is usually the same people most lobbies so we know what we are doing, or how people race, but Manu is getting messy.

I also agree that Gr4 seems to really bring out the worst in peolle these days.

You’re like literally the only other guy I’ve seen that is representing Ferrari. I NEED to know what you’re doing to get along with the Group 3 car…. I just can’t seem to figure that one out!!

I did 3 slots in the Euros today on the Alt. Meh…

Did first N/A slot on the main in an A/S room. Might even have been my first ever FIA on the main since turning A. Racing was decent. Might get the last slot tonight. Not sure

Best of luck to everyone else!

When I first picked the Ferrari I took the Gr.3 around DTS (first race of that exhibition series) and I honestly felt I'd made a massive mistake. Things you can do in more stable FR cars - which I was used to - the Ferrari will have you in the barrier. Over time I've learned how to handle it and not only would I say it's one of the best cars in the game to drive I'd also say it's played a massive part in me increasing my pace over the past nine months or so.

Two things you really need to focus on are keeping some throttle through corners to keep the car balanced (a full, quick lift can result in sudden crazy oversteer), and keep your inputs smooth - the smoother the better

Then it's just about practice. In my first exhibition series with Ferrari there were two tracks that were in the first part of this year's official series and I was over 0.6s a lap quicker at both Catalunya and Fuji this year than when I first used the car

So stick with it, be patient, learn to be smooth (this will transfer to ANY car) and keep the throttle on a little through corners and it'll be worth it 👍

Missed round 1 so was hoping to bank a good one at Sardegna, at a track and Gr4 combo that I’ve had success on in the past.

Didn‘t even have much time to practice, though, so expectations were so-so. Was also not as high on my friends list FP times, but I was comfortable I had good enough pace at go time.

Qualified 4th, was glad for that, knowing it was a straight sprint and that the Porsche is a solid race car, felt like I could likely hold my position and just hit my marks for a great result.

But then: MY (SONY) TV SHUT OFF ON ME ON LAP 2!!

This was heading right into that hard right-hander at the end of Sector 2... a critical place to defend!

As I’ve been battling this issue since I bought it last year, I was somewhat prepared... I quickly hit Option to engage auto-drive, hoping it was in time to have avoided the sand trap or be punted... then grabbed the remote to turn it on again. I was amazed I had NOT LOST ANY POSITIONS! But I had lost track position and was now going to have to defend. I tried to set up an outside/inside cutback into Turn 1, because I had no chance to defend in the run the car behind me had, but in doing so, I was opened up to a dirty (overtly dirty purposeful rammer) behind him and lost three positions at once. Eventually fell back to 9th trying to avoid and defend the nonsense that he was causing.

Managed to shake that cheater when he went wide eventually at the hard right handed into Sector 3, feeeing me up to race my way back to an eventual 6th. But given the damage, that’s all I could do. Happy to bank 140 FIA points given the lack of practice and the tv issue.

I really like this track. It’s a lot of fun to race on and in Gr4 especially.

...replacement tv is due next week, after three months battle with Sony concierge services!

Incidentally, saw @OGMowerman in my lobby matching screen... but appeared he got disconnected, as did three others before the race started...

I find I qualify poorly, and move up the field. So a 16 minute group 4 race isn’t going to suit me or the Chev. Finished mid field every slot I ran, this is slot 4 after missing an earlier slot. Found the racing fierce, and did accidentally Tag 1 car at the bottom right handed. pulled off the pass of the year end of lap 4, lol going under, yes underneath a WRX. Looking forward to longer races

Personal experience. I had problems with three out of five group 4 races last season, zero out of five group 3 races. And now it starts again with problems in the first group 4 race I can attend (I missed last week's race). This kind of widespread dirty driving has only happened to me in group 4 races, whereas in group 3 you get the occasional dirty driver sure but it's just that one driver.

In this race I ran afoul of four different dirty drivers, and that's the theme for all the group 4 races once they get dirty. I should have known things were gonna go sideways when I had people nearly muscling me off track on the qualifying outlap...

It just isn't fun to race in those conditions.
Understand the frustration and it might be good to take a break once in a while, and hope you will reconcider in the near future and will not let them win in the end. My last 4 GR 4 races were actually pretty okay, midd B level, did not really experience any real evil on track. but the next one might be the one that makes me want to quit too, you never know...

You might just have been unlucky with the lobbies lately, but do hope that you will not also get into dirty lobbies in GR 3 the coming races, because they are there.....😬

Anyway, in the end it is just a game and playing it should be fun. and if you are not having fun...what's the point then?🤔

To be honest, I've seen the reverse when it comes to driving standards.

The Manufacturer Cup races with the entire Asia region have been largely clean with some tough racing throughout. You get the occasional biff and bash from some of the Chinese and Malaysians, but overall its been okay.

The Nations Cup on the other hand has gotten worse, maybe it's due in part to all the network drop outs, maybe some drivers are risking it all as we only get 3 attempts to everyone else's 5.

Slightly gutted GTS froze on the entry lobby last night when trying to get a second attempt at the race. I feel I had the pace for a top-10, if not top-5 finish and had I not been side swiped into the dirty stuff I would have easily raked in more points than the rather sad 47 points I ended up with. I was ranked #3 in the first lobby and #9 in the second lobby, so I can only assume there would have been more points up for grabs in that second race as well... 🙁

At least now I've got two weeks to practice for the next manu race in the car I prefer out of the two.

I think you were in my Lobby?!
I was in your lobby, way down the order in a death match for 16th. I won out when the other car out braked themselves on the last lap.
Fun times 😂
The first 3 races of this season have all gone terribly. Hopefully I can start picking up some points soon!

I think it has a lot to do with where you find yourself in the pecking order.

My Nations races have been good when I’m in my regular split. When I drop 1 it’s terrible.

Manu is generally rougher for me because there seem to be a group of drivers around our rating who are consistently over aggressive.

I liked it better when they were being filtered out due to low SR.

Great advice. Do you brake with the left or the right foot? I am currently a one-foot driver so hard to keep a little throttle but want to adapt to what suits the car which I love (and also the Gr4) but have trouble keeping evenly on the track.

Left. Much easier to transfer quickly from one foot to the other than it is to move your foot from one pedal to another

FIA Manufacturers Series - Season 2
Round 2 at Sardegna B

19:00 Slot

Door: #16
Qualified: 9th
Finished: 7th

Strategy: 12M

Race was clean and I managed to get to 5th place at one point. Was being chased but kept a good gap until someone crashed ahead and just happened to come back from ghost right in front of me, slowing me down and allowing the car behind to erase the gap. - in the end I managed to avoid any mishaps and finished 7h. Couldn’t top previous race but I was fine with it.

Yeah, I was definitely in no condition to race last night for the Manufacturers Series race at Sardegna B - I had a fever of 102! I'm still getting over this, too, so I'm hoping I'll be all better by Friday morning, since I have a MeetUp event that evening.

Been kind of a bummer to not be matched with GT Planet friends in FIA races much for a while. @Odiesback @CurbHog @crusselz @csmirnoff @Keith2324 @afc5150 @mobilmasher @Geauxgreddy @C_Raccoon23 @HaydenFan69 ...seems like forever since I was consistently on grids with most of you. Hoping to catch more of you as the season wears on.

Unfortunately I have been getting bombarded with some dirty racers and have been making some silly mistakes myself. So my DR has really taken a hit. But I'll get back up there one day. Until then, keep your pedal to the metal buddy!

I too miss racing with familiar faces, It's wonderful racing with people you know you can respect for being clean racers. Although, I have had the opportunity to share the track with other people from our community and have felt privileged to have had the opportunity to do so. We'll all share the track again when our DRs cross paths again.

I haven’t run this entire segment of the summer series. Nothing looks really interesting to warrant spending hours practicing for. If you’re at the 41k DR mark when the X2019 comes up, you’ll probably see me. But outside that, I have zero interest.

1) I don't spend hours practicing! I only put in 10 laps FP for the Mfrs Race last night, then 10 minutes of FP after entering! I'm pretty pleased with my results knowing that I don't practice near as much as a lot of people do, when I think about it.

2) I haven't even looked at the schedule, taking it week by week if I'm able to play... but I'm excited if there's a X2019 race... that's awesome! I hope I can make that one.

3) Hope to see you out there in any case!

Yeah it's a bummer. My DR took a big hit recently when I made the mistake of entering a few dailies and I've dropped to ~29K DR. Now I find myself struggling to get top 10s in high BS FIA races. Maybe I'm not aggressive enough, I don't know, but I don't feel like it's really racing anymore, just a battle to survive. So given the current state of play and the general poor behaviour, I can't really see me climbing back up to where you are anytime soon.

Entered Wednesday's race with not a whole lot of expectation. I had done a couple practice "custom" arcade races, mostly to get an idea of fuel and tire usage. Watched one of the top FP times, then, it was off to the races.
19:00 slot N/A- B+C/S lobby, door 14 (more about that shortly)
Started out strong on qual 1, but got hammered when a 'Vette went wide at the tight right at the bottom of the hill and came back in right in front of me as I cleared the guard rail. Head down, I got clear and ran a quick lap with no traffic, and nailed pole! The P2 was .8 seconds behind!! I was overjoyed! Then, as I watched the driver intro, the horror of my position occured to me. Long straight with a hard left at the end, and 19 low level drivers behind me. Terror gripped my heart with flashbacks to Monza.
I got a good start, but failed to watch behind me. I made the corner great, then made the pleb error of booting the gas. I spun the car and lost 10 positions. It was no one's fault but mine. Then I had to work my way forward, dealing with the door bangers, punters, and blockers. I'm ashamed to say I lost my temper a couple times and retaliated. Long, hard drive got me back to P4.
About the door number. I'm a B DR, although my rate has been dropping like a rock for the last week because of the slam games at Monza. However, there were 9 B-DR and 10 C-DR. Why was my door number 14? I was so confused. Any way, looking forward to this weekend and next Wednesday. Maybe I can stay calm and drive hard.

What is everyone driving for Nations at Lago Maggiore?

With the high tyre wear I'm thinking the best qualy cars will struggle in-race. I haven't tried any race testing yet, but I'm thinking the Slophy might be a viable option?
