Hi Dredge!! It’s V-man73 here the second driver, as I said to u in lobby, sorry I was surprised you came across the apex, I braked early into t1, u was outside car one, then as I came on the throttle (half throttle) you came across my line from outside him to me, I put my left wheels up on the inside ripple strip, but the instant line check accelerate off the corner had started, damage was done. It was not intended and wasn’t a nose to tear punt or me turning the wheel into you, and as I wasn’t entirely at fault wasn’t going to lift to go back to 6/7th and be amongst the pack. That said I then had a clean race, the winner dive bombed me on his pass of me, but I stayed on track and gave him a glimmer of a move, about lap 6-7 I pulled the same move on Kaitheangler as I got from Davros, but slightly better set up I feel. Other than that no contact. Also you obviously lost your cool ad u spun yourself from 12th to DFL. Anyway see u next time as I said I didn’t try to end you it just happened you came from outside to in, you did the same thing to AshBechan slot 1 turn 1 and had the same result.... I’ll attach my replay of the race, see you out there

Hey man, appreciate the reply and I don’t doubt it was accidental. It was just the first in a cavalcade of contact in that race.

I don’t know if you saw my lobby reply, but I just reckon you should have been more patient. You’ve got to expect me to be hitting that apex. And if you look at the replay, I can’t be anywhere else because the guy on pole braked early as well.

Given that you made contact with the back of my car, I thought the least you could do was lift instead of driving through my rear panel. I get that you didn’t want to lose positions, but neither did I, and I had done nothing wrong.

Yes, I was a victim of the same move in the first race, and I would have been just as upset except a) some much more heinous activity followed in that race and b) the pack didn’t descend because he didn’t completely plough through me.

I’m happy to be corrected if I’m wrong, but I’d love to know exactly how either of those are my fault? I take a wide line in to hit the apex and power out. I get contact to my right rear panel which stops my momentum and lights up my tyres for half a lap.

Anyway, in the end it’s all just a game and no harm done. Look forward to seeing you on track in future rounds.

@ii_Biggles_ii your in Miata! Guess we will have our first race together. Looking forward to it!
Yea, it should be fun, not been on much but I did do FIA Nations and Q4 until rammed off the track on lap 3 so nothing has changed since my last race but looking forward to some fun with other racers like yourself in Miata even if I'm chasing from the back. I only ever bothered with Gr.1-2-3 & 4 but have been enjoying some mini madness and cars on Sports tyres and it has been fun as I couldn't drive to save my life on them tyres but it's fun now.

@KosmoKazi there's a lowlite reel on YouTube of your race showing the one man wrecking crew out there doing what he does. Disgusting as usual. You'll be happy to know he remains at 99 SR and you'll likely encounter him again in your next FIA race.

Edit - as for my race, I went Q9 to P5 for 114 points in my BS lobby. Should have been 4th except I was unceremoniously pushed out of the way on the last lap.
Which YT page? I'd like to see... it was a classic example of his MO. Bottled up a whole mess of top ten guys and ruined several races, I'm sure. I actually tried to lay back and let it unfold but he's like a cockroach and no one ever seems to be able to actually finish him off. It's the damnedest thing.

@KosmoKazi - here you go. Typical of him going inside and running you off. Then when he realizes he isn't going to win, he figures he might as well destroy as many people's races as possible. Then proceeds to tell everyone off in the post race lobby. Good times.

In hindsight, I should have backed out of the throttle and let him continue on with what he wanted to do until I could get by.

But what's not obvious in that video is he was so wide in the corner before, I thought I'd clear him headed up that awkward left hander... but he was able to keep his apex better than I expected, and was able to smear me off the track. It's uncanny.

Haven't really raced at all in the last couple weeks, but saw the Greddy Z and had to do some laps, then saw the new 86 and had to try that too. Ran some good laps, so when I had a few minutes late Saturday, I decided to enter my first FIA race in a while. I'm at 27k right now, so all B/S room. Managed to get pole, with #7 on my door. P3 tried the bump and run in T1, but I managed to hold it together, gave a nudge back, and hit T3 in P1. Drove clean and had about .9 by the second hairpin, then I caught the grass on the outside of the downhill right and looped it. Back on track in 19th place... Sucked that I lost the win, but did manage to work back up to 5th with a CRB, so overall, not a bad race.

I keep scratching my head looking at tomorrow's race. Am I missing something? Even the M4, which is one of the thirstiest cars in Gr4, can make it to the end of the race with no problem, making it a straight sprint. The Nations' race on Saturday is infinitely longer and more strategy focused with higher multipliers. Isn't the Manu series meant to be longer races, and more strategy? This plus the 8-lap race in dailies makes me wonder if the two Sardegna B races were meant to be on layout A?

it is just a sprint race, no worries about fuel or tyres, no matter what car you drive. it is very short but we had these kind of races before. I can remember a similar race with 15 laps at the Goodwood track for example.
And it will likely be a very hectic and aggressive race, prepare yourself for that!

Might not be as bad, as it's the forward layout. T1 and the right-hand gravel pit hairpin(GPH), are known trouble areas. It's when one feels any type of bump from another player, that's when things start getting messy.
If players can be patient for a fraction of a second, the racing is usually good. Plus, it's not a One Make.

Based on what I've seen of this guy (ironically it turns out I have a replay saved of a race he was in on his Portuguese account where nothing happened) I don't know why you all don't just punt him on sight. He clearly has no interest in driving properly, so I wouldn't feel any guilt for saving everyone's race by getting rid of him as soon as possible.

I think tomorrow’s strategy entails sitting back for 5 laps while everyone crashes out. Then hopefully recouping the last bit of positions in the end of the race as the tire wear with mediums is just enough for the FF’s to understeer out of corners

He's unfortunately very adept at avoiding the intended consequences of being punted. It's true. He is skilled at avoiding them and able to minimize the damage when he does get plugged. It often takes a move that takes you out of the race as well, to get the job done, if it can be. It's mind-boggling really. As noted above, he turns TCS on, and has developed a unique skill set. The other part is that he's genuinely fast, so that if he is in front, he is often able to take a win. It's clearly his MO. As frustrating a pig of a player that exists.

In with @RX8 Racer. Pretty happy with 5th but again, a couple of idiots in the lobby causing mischief!

5th on the grid behind the train of Toyotas. Started off ok with no problems. Front 6 pulled out a 4 second gap early on. 2 cars in front started fighting and holding us up so 2 leaders disappeared up the road. I eventually got past the ‘Doctor’ in front who then decided to put me into the dirt at the right hander bottom of the hill. 6th got past me and then next lap the Doctor then pushed him into the dirt at the top of the hill so I was back into 5th where I stayed. Saw that @RX8 Racer had also called out the doctor after qualifying so he had no doubt had a run in with him too.

The Doctor ran up my back at the left before the Carousel and scuppered my final flying lap (which had been under clean air, since my previous two slipstream laps were garbage).

Driving standards for this race are horrific.

Had what seemed to be a fairly solid run for me, but nothing really to show for it. Got door 20 in a lobby. Screwed up qualifying by just getting a track limit penalty on the final turn. However I was out long enough to get a full clear lap, and while not the fastest it was within half a second of what I was hoping for. Good enough for p17.

Race starts and there are a couple of wrecks, i make a few passes and am actually trying to pass an 86 for p13 when I make my mistake. I try to hang it outside on turn 1 to get a good run on exit and cut back, but there was a car behind. They send it and bump me wide-ish. I dont wreck, but the next 2 cars get through. Then in the sweeping left handed an RCZ had the run inside due to turn 1 and they promptly send it and understeer me a shade wide as well.

But I catch up and now it is a jag in front. They try defensive into turn 1, but as we get close they go to pull back to the racing line, I stay inside. They swerve directly in front to block while we are braking. I bump them, still get a better exit, but they slide and I end up tapping their rear, given them the turbo boost, me the brakes and the car behind me a free spot.

Uneventful from there. I get a 0.5 track limits final turn lap 11 and try to gap the NSX behind, but they are just close enough for a bumpy but fairly clean pass inside. There was contact, but we both left room. Crawl home p18.

Discounting the penalty as I was pushing that corner all race I felt I drove well enough except for the other 3 corners where there was contact. Yet those small bits cost me 5 spots. So despite a fairly good drive for me when I thought I was overmatched I just dont have the finish to show for it. That's racing I guess.

And if it is going to remain this aggressive I dont know when my next Manu race will be. I like a bit less bumper action on longer races. Good luck everyone else out there still going.

That’s my usual split. “The Doctor” is a serial offender. Absolute moron.

I was in slot 1 with a mix of A and B drivers and @pennanton . Unsurprisingly he won.

I was punted off the track on lap 1, as is the fashion these days. Weirdly it was at the entry to the long downhill right hander. I lost about 9 seconds to the pack. The culprit quit the race after a couple of laps. The rest of the race was ok and I fought back to p11. I’m really getting sick of the heroes punting on lap 1. I will probably go again in a later slot as I can’t imagine doing any worse than that.

Glad I sat out Slot 1.

I'm waiting for Slot 3 before I make my first attempt tonight as hopefully the maniacs will have either had their fun and gone to bed, or dropped low enough that I don't get grouped with them.

Sounds like a plan! Although that's my usual plan and it never generally goes to plan...

seriously: you might have already noticed form the first Anzac / Asian reports that the main issue is getting punted into the gravel. try to avoid this at all costs. (easier said then done, I know) Once you are into the gravel your race will effectively be over...
The track itself is quite easy, a few laps in free practice are enough to learn it. Mistah's guide is very helpfull, as usual. tyres and fuel are no issue, it is a 12 lap sprint race, expect a lot of aggressive driving and try to survive. stay close to the car in front and try to keep the slipstream on the straight (that is if you did not follow up to my very good advise to start in front)

one thing I did notice in practice is that is more important then normal to break in time, braking just a bit too late will hurt here....

good luck and be carefull out there!!!

Hi everyone,

First time here posting on the forums as I switched from Forza over to GT just a month ago.

Decided to take part in round 1 to try out online, really felt the pressure in Qualifying and put P18. Start was clean but got caught up behind an Audi on the opening stages who was blocking me madly rather than defending.

Went for the overcut and got out just ahead of him. Ran in clean air from then on taking it one car at a time and taking care of the tyres and managed to bring it home P10. Pretty satisfied with climbing 8 places but def need to work on keeping it together during qualifying.

Will take part in Round 2 today and see what happens, peaked at 1.25.2 on practice, with an average of mid to high 25s. Still getting used to the GT physics and online play (I didn’t bother playing online on Forza because that is just Mario Kart) but overall very enjoyable so far and much cleaner.

See you in round 2!

PS: If anyone was to add/race my PSN is JuanAP95X since I’m new to the platform and my mates are over on XBOX.

Jeez they really need to up the penalty to 5 seconds for punts. Got punted 3 times at the hairpin, every time the bloke either got no pen, or with the time lost recovering, served the pen and was still 6 seconds up the road. Not really a punishment that fits the crime.
Agreed. Punt penalties need to be much harsher - although the flipside to that is when someone lightly punts you into the car ahead and you get done for it and they get away with it... 😤

Was managing a low 55 in practice but ended up only managing a 56.4 which put me p20 door 17 for the race. So off the back in the big Lexus brakes to the back to save some front tyre for later in the race.

Ended up having a nice run made a couple of nice clean moves under brakes and picked up places as people spun or were punted in front of me managed race pace in the low 26s basically the entire race. Pushed harder towards the end but was stuck between a split in the pack of about 6s with 3 to go. Ended up p7 and about 3 seconds behind 6th plus a clean race bonus. 162 points that will do, not a big fan of the track and the Lexus seems a bit slow in gr4. Also today was a long one at work and I was getting back, leg and foot cramps sitting in the sim so time to lay on the couch.

This might be a stupid idea, but in FIA I would be happy for the punting penalty to be damage which persists until the punted racer gets back in front. If it’s at the end of the race the post race penalty should put them behind the punter.

It should theoretically ensure there is never an advantage to punting someone off.
