So here we go again and D8 and a good Q puts me Q6. If I can make it through the first corner I might do well. Did a lap and rage quit, this is totally pointless.
I WANT TO RACE!!!
Mate, I was in the lobby with you. If I recall correctly, you flung it from way too far back into T1 Lap 2, clattered me into the guy ahead of me, and then ragequit. I don't think it's everyone else.

If you were clean and I hit you I'm sorry, but after getting pushed around for a lap I'd had enough so I was going for a guy who had pushed me and I didn't care about anything as I was quitting. Yes it's bad behaviour and it shouldn't be allowed, but unfortunately it is.

2021 Nations - Autopolis
2021 Toyota 86 GR

Slot 1 - DR A SR S
Door 11

Jumped on the alt because I run Nations on the alt after both my main accounts DR resets came in nations races. First, I really like this little car. Easy to catch it in a slide, just enough power to break the wheels free, its just kind of fun. I dig it.

So, lobby opens up, some familiar names, but didn't see any GTP folks. I jumped out fast in qualy and was having a great start to my lap when I caught the guy in front that made a mistake. Didn't want to pass him, but really had no options. Got around him clean on the inside of the hairpin and managed to salvage a Q2.

In the lobby, I set by BB to +5 and had the TC already up in HUD. When the grid opened, I plopped it in TC 1 and held the e-brake with the foot planted. Lights went out and I went full Verstappen, out the gates with a quickness. Managed to pull in front of p1 before the braking zone. He backed out, thinking he'd probably just pass me later on after we broke away. We did break away!

It was like a rubber-band race for 10 laps. I'd pull away just getting out of the slip, then have a misplaced tire, or miss my braking by a hair, and he'd get back in. Luckily I could pull enough gap before the final sector that he couldn't get a good run on me in the last turn. Took the Victory by 0.685 seconds. Good clean race. Nothing too exciting, just constant pressure. 167 points or so.

On to the next one!

The two sequences that defined my Nations Round 1. Maybe I’m too harsh on my reaction to these drivers? Maybe they’re not dirty and I’m just getting too worked up?

Edit: rewatching these, there’s no excuse for these incidents. In the first he shouldn’t have punted me at the hairpin and then, assuming it was accidental, he could have slotted back in behind through the double right and reset. Instead he got grumpy that I was still ahead.

In the second race, that Subi liveried car had no place pushing his nose in at turn 1. The following taps and punts never happen without that.

Still fuming!

I did the first three slots today, which is all I had the patience for. What I learned from this round is that low-end road cars really exposes some people’s lack of race craft. Had two potential top 10 finishes ruined by utter clowns forcing their way past at the worst times, either killing my car’s momentum or just straight up pushing me off the track. Ended with P15 for 79 points. The GR 86 is pretty fun to drive but this round was ruined by the sheer incompetence on display.

Good to race with @KosmoKazi in the first slot at least.

Welp, I could sit here and discuss how my 3 attempts at Nations tonight went.......

(which you can find here )

I think these clips below from slot 2 and 3 says it all. Guess it's ok for me to start barging people out the way 🤷‍♂️ 🥶

That first guy is a pretty regular tap wide driver, at least whenever I've seen them. They love the slight bump in the rear to get you loose while they shoot past. Not a fan. Never seen the second driver, but they obviously had no problems leaving their foot in it when you were getting pushed off by them. So annoying.

Yeah, he’d been tapping my bumper for about a lap before the hairpin punt. I called him out after the race and he showed no remorse. Just whinged that I made contact when I had got past him again. (I did, but it was minor and there was no way I was being polite after this)

Dude in the second one apologized and claimed it was accidental but that somehow seems worse, because if it’s genuinely accidental contact, surely you lift to avoid the push?

Yeah, never seen that tofu livery player. I'd leave more room for unknown players. If they follow you wide, then, it's elbows out.

The Subi, I think I've seen that player before. That mess throws you off your rhytmn.

Copy that. How do I get one of my replays upload to YouTube?
Watch the replay, then tap the share button and choose video clip. You’ll be prompted to share to YouTube or Twitter. Depending on length you may need to change the default video clip length.

You need to link your PS4 to your YouTube account and if your YouTube isn’t verified you can’t upload clips longer than 15 minutes.

If you want to edit them you can use sharefactory before sharing the video or edit in YouTube.

I had one of those moments today, someone claimed he reported me because of this exchange
The sheer audacity of some people to act surprised when they get the elbows out and it backfires

Both of these incidents is exactly the sort of stuff, even more agitating when its the sort of unsporting conduct that falls outside the parameters of the penalty system.

Especially the one with Dragline at T1. He pushes you aside and just carries on. Me, when I do something like that to another player I back off, let him gather himself and give the spot back. Hopefully then the other guy understands that it wasn't intentional and the in the spirit of sportsmanship a wrong has been corrected. But no, dudes will do that to you, and totally take advantage of the situation. In that case, I drive even faster than I normally do in the red mist and fix the issue myself.

I wish I had your skill to chase them down. I inevitably get angry and then lose my rhythm and my lap times suffer. Last night I drove really good recovery drives by my standards, but when you’ve lost 18-20 seconds in a 10 lap race, it’s a lost cause.

It wasn’t just me either. In those 2 races another guy who I race often started pole in both. In race 1 he finished DFL and in race 2 he finished around p9 both as a result of others’ indiscretions. He’s a good clean racer and we are usually very similar in pace. I can only imagine he is feeling the same way as me today.

I don't give the position back if I accidentally do it to be honest, but if someone returns the favour I just shrug it off.

I think you spinning out in the first incident is on you. Yeah he bumped you wide, but he gave you space after the initial contact -you still had track position and you would've maintained it without getting your braking wrong at the bottom of the hill. But after he passed you then you were very deliberately bumping and squeezing him wide, and then you put yourself in a vulnerable position with an aggressive move.

I'm not saying it's right or wrong but if you're going to give someone else the impression that you're out to get them, then you put them in a position where they can either back off or spin you...they're going to spin you

I’m going to disagree vehemently here. I didn’t get my braking point wrong at the bottom of the hill. I nailed that braking point every time. He braked early to try and cut back but it meant he ran wide and got a worse run up the hill.

Did I hold him narrow? Yes. Did I try and drive him off? No. He always had room. He was behind. He shouldn’t be making contact.

If other people think I’m wrong then please let me know. But I think I had track position at all critical times.

Sorry just had another look, I missed the second bump he gave you at the bottom of the hill

yeah I would've given him a spray

Did a couple practice races days before, but really only ran 3 test laps. Showed up for the 4th slot, I'm not sure if all the top tier guys had quit and this was the top tier or I ended up at the top of the second tier room since I was door #1. Nabbed pole, broke away exiting Turn 1, and really just ran away with the whole thing. Made a couple braking mistakes that kept it close, but I maintained a lead of about a second.

Not bad for someone who owns an 86. 😄

I ended up running three slots in the Nations last night. I only got a slight bit of practice in Fri night and nothing Saturday morning, as I had a work gig that day. I get home maybe 20 min before Slot 2.

Slot 2, not great. But given the lack of practice and preparation, I suppose that's to be expected. I made the mistake of trying to slipstream qualify and ended up having to slam on the brakes pretty hard in my first flying lap to avoid a three car traffic jam in sector 2 before the hairpin. Then my second flying lap ends up in the in the grass for another similar incident. I think I started P14 or something like that.

I make up several positions on the first lap but then miss my braking point on T1 on the next lap. I have nowhere to go as there's someone to both my inside and outside. I mash the throttle to put myself into the gravel pit rather cause a three car pileup of my own. When I dig myself out of the gravel, I'm DFL and 17 sec behind the next closest car. I obviously had some good race pace as I closed that 17 sec gap to 9.5 sec by the end of the race but I still finished DFL.

Slot 3. I actually set a good Q time even though I only got 1 flying lap in after letting so many people by to avoid a similar situation to the previous Q session. I start P4.

Then I have one of the biggest brain farts that I've had in long time and don't hold the brake on the grid and get a pretty big false start penalty. By the time I finally start and get through T1, I'm something like P15. Again, I have decent race pace and gain several positions but lost way too much time on the lead pack to ever hope to bridge the gap. I take consolation in being able to work my way up the field and finish P9.

Slot 4. Fastest lobby of the night, at least in terms of Q times. I again only get one flying lap in but this time biff it pretty hard - a full sec slower than my previous race. I'm slapping myself on the forehead as I start in P15.

I buckle down, focus, get my elbows out and go for my most aggressive start of the night. I kept it clean but I made sure I got the inside line for most of the first lap and didn't give an inch to people trying to push me off my line. I'm up to P8 by the end of L1. I gain a position on the tight lefthander before the downhill straight on L2 for P7. I spend the next several laps in the midfield slipstream train, long enough that I start to think that this may be how we're going to finish the race. But then on L6, P8 bridges the gap, gets on my tail and bumps me going into the tight downhill lefthander. I'm just able to catch it before I go off-track but he obviously gets ahead of me. I'm close enough to him that I'm able to brake late and give him exactly the same type of tap in the double righthander at the bottom of the hill. I gain the position back and he falls in behind me and we race clean and contact free for the remainder of the race.

A couple of incidents ahead of us allow me to move up to P5 on L7 and my now squeaky clean race buddy makes a few overtake attempts on me but can't make them stick. Finally on L9, he's able to get position and passes me on the inside of the double righthander on L9. It took me a lot longer than I wanted (and longer than it probably should have) but I finally had a good race and result, crossing the line in P6 for 72 pts.

Time is again tight this upcoming week but I'm hoping to get at least one go at Sardegna on Wed. We'll see. :gtpflag:

Hi Dredge!! It’s V-man73 here the second driver, as I said to u in lobby, sorry I was surprised you came across the apex, I braked early into t1, u was outside car one, then as I came on the throttle (half throttle) you came across my line from outside him to me, I put my left wheels up on the inside ripple strip, but the instant line check accelerate off the corner had started, damage was done. It was not intended and wasn’t a nose to tear punt or me turning the wheel into you, and as I wasn’t entirely at fault wasn’t going to lift to go back to 6/7th and be amongst the pack. That said I then had a clean race, the winner dive bombed me on his pass of me, but I stayed on track and gave him a glimmer of a move, about lap 6-7 I pulled the same move on Kaitheangler as I got from Davros, but slightly better set up I feel. Other than that no contact. Also you obviously lost your cool ad u spun yourself from 12th to DFL. Anyway see u next time as I said I didn’t try to end you it just happened you came from outside to in, you did the same thing to AshBechan slot 1 turn 1 and had the same result.... I’ll attach my replay of the race, see you out there

Good to race with @KosmoKazi in the first slot at least.
That was my 'real' race on the main account. Unfortunately my top 10 was ruined by the most famous Idiot of the (Every) Week. He ran me wide on purpose and plowed through to take my position after scuffling with four others so badly that there was a logjam. I was trying to avoid it but at some point you've got to try and get past that garbage or you'll get passed by the rest of the train.

I had a much better race on my Alt, even at a higher DR and higher lobby. Ran 2nd most of the race, frustratingly lost 2 positions on the last lap to guys that were closing on me the whole race, but still a solid 4th place and nice (for me) points haul of 153 on that account. I won't make any serious effort on that one, though, was just to run it for fun. Maybe should have re-run the main, but I like to stick to one-and-done and live with it, to develop good habits instead of disposable efforts.

Ironically, that same Idiot who ruined my race on the main account WON the race I did on my alt account... he was ahead from the first lap, and I could never catch him while protecting my second place, up from my 8th place starting position after a very clean first lap for me and a couple of passes in the rest of the opening laps.

Not a terrible start to the season, but I hope that the 99 points I got on the main account aren't included in my final tally. The 125 or so I would have gotten without 'that' guy would have been a decent start.

@KosmoKazi there's a lowlite reel on YouTube of your race showing the one man wrecking crew out there doing what he does. Disgusting as usual. You'll be happy to know he remains at 99 SR and you'll likely encounter him again in your next FIA race.

Edit - as for my race, I went Q9 to P5 for 114 points in my BS lobby. Should have been 4th except I was unceremoniously pushed out of the way on the last lap.
