So, India is one of the countries that's not eligible for FIA. That also means that I cannot get an S ranking right? During the previous season I qualified for the requirements but I'm guessing that since India isn't eligible, that's the reason why I cannot get an S rank.
Yep, I've tried too. We can't get one. What's your PSN btw, have I ever raced with you? There's only like 10 people who do FIAs seriously.

Honestly, the best argument against one-shot racing is the last time slot each round. If you've ever been in one of those races, you'd know exactly what the problem is with making every race the last chance, and never suggest it again.
Then you had a bad season and move on. DC's are equipment related. I'd compare it's failure no differently than your system or your controller. Or because we are using "real life" usage, think of your connection as the engine. If your engine program sucks, you replace it. Meaning you might have to spend some money on your internet in order to help reduce the risk of DCing.
Sure thing. Now expand it. 16 cars of 20 on the grid get engine failure as the lights are coming on. What happens "in real life"? Probably a red flag.

Or let's take another connection issue - the guy in front of you forgets to start driving in the warm up lap. What happens "in real life"? I'm not actually sure how this would go (probably everyone drives past them), but I'm pretty certain it wouldn't be "I also forget how to drive and spend the next 45 seconds driving forwards and backwards into the barrier while other people behind me also do the same thing, then start the race pointing the wrong way up the track".

In an online racing classic, one of the guys has a vehicle issue that makes every car vanish. Meanwhile everyone can see him and he's an absolute menace. What happens "in real life"?

These things cannot happen in real life but do in the game, because esports isn't real life. Games can, and should, be better than real life, and multiple entries allows for players to work round these issues that would otherwise see them burning a week's practice in a one-shot affair.

As for being crashed out. Well, again, it's bad luck and you move on. Not to the next race in a hour. Allowing multiple runs of a various round means you can be the a-hole and take someone out to negligible penalty, helping racing in that the a-hole will have to rethink his driving, and you can worry less about said a-hole.
In the words of Michael "Alfred Pennyworth" Caine, some men just want to watch the world burn. Hedge fund managers realised earlier this year that assuming everyone invests in good faith to make money, and nobody would deliberately lose money just to spite you, was a bad assumption to make, and some people are just out to troll. In one-shot races, you'll still have bastards who just act like bastards because they're bastards, but now you won't be able to do anything about it...

... and in real life they'd be black-flagged and banned from the next race, or races, or series, or country (in the case of Maldonado), or racing altogether. In GT Sport they can carry on and, with a three/four-day gap to the next race build up any DR/SR they've lost and **** you up in the next FIA race. And the next one. And the next one. They can't do that with 20 minutes.

One-shot FIA races only results in troll heaven outside the top split. This doesn't exactly sell Sport Mode.

As for the rotting dog wang Gr.4 Atenza. Firstly, a bit harsh. Calling it a fat pig is a more accurate term. Secondly, you picked the manufacturer. You should've done the research (or taken a peak at the many others who have and posted their results publicly).
I thought I was being kind  but you've lightly missed the point here.

Many manufacturers have a good Gr.3 car and a sucky Gr.4 one. Or a good Gr.4 car and a mediocre Gr.3 one. Not many have competitive cars in both classes, or pap cars in both classes, so most of the time your manufacturer choice is a compromise where you pick the brand for the car you want to drive for points at the expense of a worse car in the other class (or you just want to race that marque).

Now with that in mind let's go back to bastards bastarding. Say you've picked a good Gr.3 and an arse Gr.4. Bastard has picked the opposite to you, and knows he has no chance in Gr.3 but a much faster car in Gr.4, so bastard sets out to ruin all Gr.3 races to deny you the points you could get, and he can drive off into the sunset in Gr.4 while you flounder about in a dog-egg car. That wrecks your season and boosts his. Again, with one-shot, he can do it every Gr.3 race and recover lost DR/SR in the days before the next race, but with multiple entries he can't spoil every Gr.3 race you're in.

Of course you can choose to be the bastard back in the single Gr.4 race, so that nobody gets any points, and everyone around either of you has an awful experience. And then every race outside top split becomes troll heaven again. This still doesn't exactly sell Sport Mode.

It's still technically possible in multiple entry races, but you'd need a troll with five accounts all at the same level.

Im also dissapointed that there is no detailed schedule:( I was planning to do some practice race after work, but without fuel/tyre multipliers there is no sense... Aaaah PD

It’s worse than that... we don’t even know which car to use on Saturdays which was meant to be one make. Could be a GR1 or could be a kart or anything inbetween

No was Wednesday!

Well DTS pit stop is 28 seconds in my custom race... Without changing tyres. Did a 4 lap race. Tyre/fuel 10x. Pitted End of Lap 2. Just added fuel(2.4 laps) in the Mustang.

Came out 18 seconds behind 19th place AI.

You’ve seemed to have been taken advantage of by some people. And I am sorry the game hasn’t been kind to you. But you cannot us that mistreatment as the basis of your opinion.

I've had neither particular kindness nor unkindness from the game, nor any particular mistreatment from anyone.

Not that it's relevant - trying to turn me into the subject of the discussion doesn't address the points made.

Having run a few seasons using only the final slot as my “one and done” I can’t agree with this statement. The majority of races I’ve entered in the final slot have been great and a hell of a lot better than most daily races I have entered.

Its clear there are pros and cons to “one and done” or “multi slots”, personally I prefer the one and done approach and still only race in one event per round. I just love that little bit excitement I get when sat on the grid knowing that this is it no matter what!!

There are bigger “problems” with FIA imo and why I don’t understand why people take it so seriously; with penalties, lobby issues, unfair points system, unbalanced bop, stupidly high multipliers (not been too bad lately, not holding my breath for this season though) etc for me FIA is just a better version of dailies and I just hope to enjoy the racing 👍.

Going with Mazda for this one having not used them much if at all. Hopefully see a few of you guys out on track .

Really? I've always found them faintly awful - though I can't say whether they're better or worse that the first slot  First slot is always the one where nobody's really totally sure about everything and you get that attitude that @Groundfish mentions: this one doesn't matter because there's always a next one. Second and third slots always seem to be best; people want to get done before the night is getting on, and they've had a practice run in the first slot so everything goes along smoothly.

I can't say why final slot is usually poor. I'd guess the late hour means a lot of tired people (especially in the +1, +2, and +3 timezones across Europe; an 11pm race in the UK is midnight almost everywhere else and 1am in Eastern Europe; and EMEA doesn't end there!) who've already had four absolutely mince races, but I've found that the moment something doesn't go completely right they go spare. Maybe there's too much riding on it after too many previous attempts?

All the worst divebombs and revenge divebombs I've seen are first and last races, and when the back half of the grid goes full red SR, or DNFs, or NCs, it's always been a last slot. Except that Tokyo East Outer race a while back in Gr.4s, after a penalty system change (can't remember if it was total penalty death or total war); all five races that night were a catastrophe. Funny, but an all-round waste of time

That said, I rarely do final slots. Some of that's because experience has taught me to avoid them, and some because if I haven't got reasonable points on the board before the last-chance saloon, I probably won't get them then either.

In my region around my dr I found there weren’t many points to be had in the early slot. I’ve pretty much only ever raced second or third slot, there are always more points available (from what I have seen) but it’s stupidly aggressive.
Brands Hatch was a great example.
I was able to run longer on the tires and it put me out ahead of some very fast people coming out catching on fresh rubber.
They tried to force past me hitting me so I was forced to slow a bit and protect causing penalties and sr downs.
This wasn’t the first time. There’s places at Brands you can’t do much .
I have personally seen also players just sending things early in the races, and doing it again next race third slot too.
So, these are the bad races.
The majority of FIA I have had have been very fun close clean competitions, but you remember the bad ones and when it’s often the same players...well you know...I have adopted a one and done and I don’t practice all week. For me it’s just good races I’m after. For myself I enjoy the high quality matching more than anything.
I really invest no more into these than the dailies.

I can't resist DTG and any Gr.4 Daily race. However, I'm getting a bit over the Dailies.
Since I do one and done FIA, it pretty much balances out the few quality races I have in a Daily. Save for maybe a dodgy move by an FIA player(there's usually one - depending where I qualify), seem to be less risks involved overall.
In a Daily, players have a whole week to wreck or fix or strategize or switch cars. FIA qualifying, shows who you're racing for real(can't qualify in the META and run something else).

Still haven't picked my brand. I weighed the performance differences. Now, it's about the livery for each of those choices. Which car will look the best at each track, in my replays.:)

I was also hoping to see the official FIA schedule today. However, regardless of the details, I'll be using Hyundai again this season. I tested several manufacturers recently (Aston, Mercedes, Lexus, Chevy, Viper in particular) and while I would be equally happy in any of those Gr 3 cars vs. the Genesis, there is still something about the Gr 4 Genesis that really suits me better than the Gr 4 for any of those other manufacturers. It feels really good regardless of track or tire compound. Looking forward to it!

With the new season, I will stick with Hyundai, but will switch colours from my "traditional" yellow-blue to the new colours of our team:
Hyundai Manufacturers Cup 2021.jpg

Time for objectives.
